Congratulations Kelseymarie2 It is good to see that you have been so successful with your weight loss. What works for you?
I have just been trying to keep my body moving during the day when I can. So in the morning I go and feed the animals ( Living with many, goats dogs rabbits cats ect ect) so I try to move a bit faster, maybe pick up more things while Im doing it.
Or sitting on a exercise ball rather than the couch ( only for a little while here and there) so if im on the ball i tend to bounce and move more.
But besides that everyday i have been going on the treadmill for an hour. I cant do an hour straight, i get way too bored, so i break it down into 30 minutes, then two 15 . Eating in between , doing other things, then getting back on before bed. Seems to help but I can tell its getting old fast!

Thank you so much! I started my "journey" at the very end of June. It's been a lot of trial and error with calories and exercise. I plateaued at 1200 calories after losing 50ish pounds, turns out I wasn't eating enough; so I bumped it up to 1500 and it's worked out better :). But I've been losing and gaining for the last couple months and I'm sick of it, so I'm hoping this will get me into gear ! I have the right mindset every single day, but that peanut butter jar is pure EVIL I tell you! lol
I'm also trying the whole calorie cycling, started today. I'm eating :
Monday: 1500
Tuesday: 1200
Wednesday: 1800
Thursday: 1600
Friday: 1300
Saturday: 1400
Sunday: 1700
I hope it works out in my favour. And I hope everyone has success as well!
Aweeeesooome Kelseymarie, you've done excellent, I can't wait til I hit one-derland, sometimes it seems like the tunnel is dark and no end. I started at 298 Jan 2005, been on and off, because of those dang plateus. I started Weight Watchers in April 2008, only lost around 18lbs with them, so Im going to try this in conjuction with WW. I'm only off by your calories by 500 so I hope this works. What are you doing for exercise? I hear ya on the peanut butter, I love it. Good luck![]()
I stayed on track the whole week until the night we went out. What I did is the night that we was going out I saved all my calories for that night. I ate a very lite breakfast and lunch. So, I did go over my calories, but not by much.....IT WAS GOOD!!!

Wow thank you! One-derland is definately an amazing place to be, and I know you'll get there! Remember that slow and steady wins the race ! For exercise, I started out with a gym membership (plus, in the summer it was easier to get there) and went 3-4 times a week. I've been slacking lately! I haven't gone to the gym for awhile, and to be honest, I'm going to try a different gym because I'm currently not enjoying mine right now. I also have a treadmill and a stair master at my house, and I try my hardest to work out on those as much as possible. I definately need to start going back to the gym though, I miss the strength training! I also have a pool in my backyard, so it'll definately help me out this summer. I'm so excited that the weather is getting better and spring is almost here. Me and my sister like to go for walks and dare I say it, runs?!! (I can't believe I'm going to attempt it after losing 66 pounds!) in the nice weather :) Good luck with everything as well!
jat_145: Congrats! It's so hard to keep on track when you go out, and it feels so amazing when the night's over and you look back on it, you feel so proud of yourself.
Is everyone still feeling motivated? What are you doing to keep yourself on track? I found that putting an undesirable fat picture of yourself in a place were you have a tendency to overeat( car, office desk or kitchen.) will help keeping you on track.
Tannis I like your Idea of sitting on an exercise ball while watch tv. You can't help but to keep moving. also breaking up your exercising routine throughout the day.
How is everyone doing so far this week?
So far so good. I have been studying for a mid-term and I use to want to snack while I eat, but know I try to take in foods that will keep me satisfied longer. My daughter (who is 6) and I are going today to pick out a workout video....something that will be fun for her too. For those who have kids, the Wiggles videos will keep you moving! I found that making weight loss fun....makes it easier!
Keep up the good work gals!
Nice work, jat, with staying on track while enduring studying for mid-terms! And you have the right idea; make weight loss fun!
I feel like I am staying motivated this week. I didn't like my small weight gain from last week, so I am determined to lose SOMETHING!
Your idea of putting a 'fat' picture in a place where you have a tendency to overeat was interesting because it sounded familiar. I tend to keep pictures of physiques similar to how I would like to look near those areas; athletic, strong, fit, lean women wearing the neat clothing styles that I like but haven't worn since gaining weight.
I also posted my goal for the summer where I can see it everyday, and that reminds me that I can more easily acheive my goal if I lose some weight. My goal is to ride 112 miles on my bicycle in one outing. My longest ride previously was around 68. There is a 100 mile ride 4.2 miles from my house in July, so I am planning on riding to/in/from event, plus about 5 more miles to reach my goal. I put the goal over my desk (where I most often tend to snack too much out of boredom, etc.) to remind me to behave.
So ha ha, I just realized I use 2 things; the fit woman picture at home and my biking goal at work!
Stay strong, ladies, we can do it!!
I wanna join!

Ahhhh not such a great week so far! Its the end of term and one of my friends is leaving uni for good this week, plus it was a friends 21st so big food week! So tasty but not good for the waistline. I've had 2 3000 cal days. Ahhhhh!
The only saving grace is that I have done lots of excercise. 30 mins in the gym mon and yesterday, 5 hr (!) hike on tuesday and an hour walk today. It might minimise the damage, but I'm still expecting a gain this week. I have a night out planned tonigt so need to figure out which low cal drinks I can have. Any suggestions? I'm afraid it is absolutely uneccebtable to stay sober when its my friends last night here ever! Possibly the last time I'll see them for the rest of my life! Hopefully not but it is a possibility!
I have my sister over this weekend too and promised I take her out for a meal and night on the town cos she had a bit of a trauma last weekend. I say a bit. She had a miscarriage. She needs to be looked after right now, so food issues will be taking a backseat.
Still, any advice on how I can not mess this up too much would be fab!
Thanks
p.s. congrats again on everyones weight loss. Its a real inspiration!
Welcome aboard hallebailey, and good luck.
Im doing Ok so far, have a questions for all the ladies out there in the 215-230 lb range. How many calories are you eating per day? Talking to GI-Jane and she thought I might be eating too little, I was eating around 1400 a day and she said I probably should be eating around 1600 a day. I re-took the quiz and she was right. I was starving at night when I was off to bed, this week seems to be better eating 1600 per day, oh that was with light activity. Does this sound right?
Great job, jat_145 and melicious 15 way to stay strong, how about you valrocks40, how are you doing? The picture, great idea, I have one in my wallet, but I like the idea of having one in there of where your going to be.
Tannis, do you have an exercise ball, and if so how well does it work?
Keep up the good work ladies, stay strong thru the weekend. YIKES![]()
Malomadame, I'd like to tell you I have words of wisdom for you, but quite honestly what I'd probably end up doing if I was in that situation is..... if this is a one time deal, I would drink tons of water, do lots of excercise and go have fun and enjoy yourself. Hopefully the water and excercise would compensate for some of the fun, then next week work a little harder.
Good luck with your decision and have a great weekend.![]()
Hi guys, Sorry to hear about some bad news thats happening for some.
Yes i do have an exercise ball, I really enjoy it. It works really well, when I use it properly. I usually just bounce around on it, not to burn anything more to keep my body moving and to have a little fun. They are a great addition to have and cheap! One thing I do love are those elastic bands you use for strength training. They are awesome!
Im feeling rather lazy this week, not sure what the scale will show but as long as its no gain Ill be happy as can be. Still no success on fitting my jeans....sigh.
Only time will tell :)
I have been doing ok not as gung ho as I was the week of 3/8/09. (I usually lose momentum in week 2) But I have been managing to stay in my 1500- 1800 calorie range. Not sure if I should stay there or not. I am nursing and I don't want to deprive my lil one of vital nurturance. Anyone know what calories should be while nursing? I had a great weight loss last week hope I can keep it up without sacrificing anything.
Welcome Hallebailey glad to have you join our group. I glad everyone is still in the race.
malomadame hang in there, have fun but don't overindulge. I agree with Brwnize1967 There is always next week to make it up.
melicious15 in your journal you mention a great site
http://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php you guys should check it out.
keep it up, we can do this.
Hey Valrocks- very cool website.
Melicious 15 thanks for finding it.
Hang on everyone, weekends here, it's going to be a bumpy ride. lol![]()
Stay strong, and have a great weekend everyone. : )
malomadame, family is first....I agree. What I would do is if you go out to eat, choose your food wisely, maybe chicken instead of steak or something like that. My daughters, mom and I are going out tonight so I am already thinking what I will eat. I have always heard that if you exercise before you eat you will not eat as much. So, what I do is I hit a couple of stores and get some walking in as exercise and then after we eat we always go to the mall and walk, it is not as boring walking in the mall, and usually I am caring my bags of stuff that I bought so that adds a little more to your walk. You will be surprised at how many calories you can burn while shopping!
Tell your sis to hang in there. I had a misscarrieg with my first pregancy. I now have two beautiful little girls. Tell her not to get discouraged.
