Should I continue eating to reach my min 1200cal intake?
it's 930pm now.
and my total daily intake has amounted to 706cal. (give or take)
I don't know whether I should end it for the day or not. because I'm not the least bit hungry and I'm a tad sleepy now..
so opinions>
Eat more.
Definately.
And try to plan better tomorrow?
If you've eaten practically nothing all day, you've no appetite and you're feeling sleepy/lethargic by 9pm in the evening then that's generally not a good sign.... suggests a slowing metabolism (no appetite) and possibly low blood-sugars (lethargy).
If you have a history of starving and bingeing you've got to make a big effort to regulate your eating habits otherwise you'll trigger more episodes. Right now you're starving... keep it up and by the weekend you'll be out of control again. As irishmum suggests, plan your day better in future so that you get enough to eat. If you exercise for 60 mins a day you are not sedentary. Go with 1400 cals rather than 1200 and split your day into three meals and some snacks.... having a light meal or a snack every 2 or 3 hours. It's better to lose slightly more slowly but healthily than risk slipping back into the starve/binge pattern
Get the most 'bang for your buck' from the foods you choose nutritionally as well. Good/whole foods with plenty of nutrition are more satisfying in small amounts than processed/diet foods. They also have a positive effect on your mental state.... lifting your mood and making the process much easier.
I'd be sleepy if I were starving myself, too.
I am glad to see the positive response from everyone above for this sweetheart to take care of herself.
If we're only talking about one day, I would say that you should try to eat more but if you just can't do it then go on to bed and plan better for the next day. If you've only made the mistake of not eating enough today, it's pretty much the same to me as if you had a day when you ate a little too much. One day isn't going to make or break your diet, or lifestyle change if you prefer. If, however, we are talking about something that is becoming a habit, then perhaps further intervention is needed.
actually, isn't starvation going to make you even more awake? that's what i've read about anyway.
it's actually when I binge, or eat alot, then I get really reallly sleepy.
it's just that I havent had any appetite the whole day and felt really sleepy just now. but it's 1212am now and I havent gotten to sleep yet..
It seems to me like you are either in denial, don't want to get better or are another teenage troll. If you wanted to end your bout with bulimia you wouldn't be arguing with everyone who gives you advice & you would eat.
"Not having an appetite" e.g. fasting, might work for a few days or even a week, but you will binge again & gain another 20lbs unless you learn to eat normally.

I suggest you start posting in Health & Support instead.
maybe you are coming down with something.I know I have no appetite when I'm getting sick.Hopefully you feel better today and can get enough calories.
Ok. I'm going to ignore the arguement above and just answer the question.
If you're not hungry on 700 calories a day, then you may have done your metabolism some serious damage. Have you had an eating disorder in the past? Or prolonged periods of dieting?
If not, then the lack of appetite may be due to illness. If you're not feeling hungry like this for more than 3 days, then get your butt down to the doctors, missy! We wouldn't want you to get ill =]
Try eating something high calorie but relatively light now. Something like peanut butter on crackers, or an apple and some cheese, maybe even a bar of chocolate? I think you should at least try and get to 1000 tonight, preferably nearer 1400, just to be on the safe side.

Oh, ok. Thanks
In that case. 1200 isn't even enough, You need to be aiming for 1600 at least. Also, how old are you, jascuzzie? If you're under 20 (as the teenage comments suggest) then you need to eat 1800 calories every day, AT LEAST.
700 isn't going to cut it. and in the end, all you're going to do is screw up your metabolism to the stage where it is irreparable.
There's no point trying to cheat the system. Don't try and lose weight too fast, because it will come back and bite you in the behind eventually.
I wanna thank all the other constructive comments given by you all.
I know 700 wasn't enough. I was simply asking if in the instant I had eaten 700cal and it was late and i was getting tired, would it be alright to just end the day.that's all.
anyway, I'm 20 years old. so no, I am an adult already, ms alicandra.
No one on this site will ever rectify eating 700 calories a day. Posts like this are being increasingly more common, and I think everyone is just getting a little on edge.
If you truly aren't hungry, eat a big spoonful of peanut butter. Have a bowl of cereal.
You get no good out of going to bed on 700 calories, and you get no bad out of eating even if you're a little tired. Take care.
OP, I agree if you're not hungry on that few calories the answer is to eat more.
I had an ED in my mid-teens, and I understand/remember the mindset that goes along with it. People who haven't experienced it probably mean well, but it is a very skewed perspective that you get with an ED that can be frustrating to others - these are mental disorders that change the way your brain operates; you have a fear of and obsession with food. Telling an anorexic to eat more, or a bulimic to quit throwing up, honestly does no good at all and really, why bother even posting a reply if that's all you have to say? Sorry if I step on any toes there, not trying to be rude but it would hurt my feelings to get a reply like that if I truly had an ED and was struggling with it. I'm also not trying to be condescending if I'm saying something that anyone already knows. Just wanted to put it out there.
Anyway, 'jas' please think of your health - that few calories will wreak havoc on your body, causing damage to your heart and many other issues. Check out this chart, and please try hard to take care of your body!

Actually, jas & I share the same eating disorder. I responded more than just "eat more" or "stop binging" in her other threads. She posted 3 threads earlier yesterday & was given a lot of very good advice.
This is exactly why she needs to post in Health & Support. People in this forum don't assume the implications of posts like this, or know it's comming from someone with an ED, and will give her advice that could be harmful to someone with an ED.

You're right, I have seen quite a few other posts by her since I came across this one. However, I'm interested to know what advice you think I have given that would be harmful to someone with an ED. If I did, obviously that was not my intent and I'd want to know to avoid passing it along in the future. If you just took exception to an opinion that happened to apply to one of your posts, then that's a different issue and it wasn't meant to offend you.
Please know that Calorie Count cannot and will not support you eating less than 1200 calories a day. We consider this unhealthy and CC is all about HEALTHY weight loss or weight maintenance
From Mary Hartley, Calorie Count's Director of Nutrition: "By eating only 800 calories, you will not get enough energy, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and other components of food. In time, you could become malnourished, which can cause severe health risks such as respiratory infections, kidney failure, blindness, heart attack and even death."
Here is a brief reason why never less than 1200 from the Advice section of Calorie Count Plus, under the Q&A tab:
Why must I eat at least 1,200 calories a day when I want to eat less?
In order to get the daily food servings you need for a balanced diet, it takes about 1200 calories a day. With careful planning, you could have a balanced diet on 1000 calories, but the restrictiveness of a very low calorie level can lead to binging and weight cycling, which will take you further from your weight loss goal. What's more, very low calorie diets can cause excessive muscle breakdown and metabolic adaptations, which can drive down your calorie requirements. In the end, you'll need fewer calories to maintain a higher weight
Your body needs at least 1200 calories per day to survive.
Here is a very rough scientific break down provided by a dietician for a5' 2", 19 year old female weighing approximately 100 pounds, sitting around all day and doing nothing:
-The heart needs 12% of the calories (144 cals)
-The kidney needs 12% of the calories (144 cals)
-The Liver needs 23% of the calories (276 cals)
-The brain needs 23% of the calories (276 cals)
-The skeletal muscle needs 30% of the calories (360 cals)
Why eating only 1200 calories or undereating doesn't work to lose weight
http://caloriecount.about.com/wont-lose-faste r-eat-calories-q3127
In the long run, you won’t lose weight faster by eating 1200 calories a day. Under-eating deprives your body of essential nutrients and leads to muscle breakdown to provide energy. With less muscle, you require fewer calories and you reach a weight low plateau more quickly. Restrictive dieting also places you at risk for binge-eating which can lead to weigh gain and a life of yo-yo dieting.
Will I go into starvation mode if I eat 1000 – 1200 calories a day?
http://caloriecount.about.com/starvation-mode -eat-calories-q2046
Your body will not selectively burn stored fat because your central nervous system needs glucose and you can’t make glucose from fat. But protein can be converted to glucose, and so the body breaks down your muscles to provide it. Ultimately, you lose lots of muscle along with fat, and that drives down your calorie requirements because muscle burns calories but fat does not. You then maintain a higher weight on less food making weight gain inevitable. For best results, eat the number of calories prescribed by the Calorie Target calculator in the Tools section.
