Contraceptive Implant and Weight Loss/ Gain
Hi guys,
Don't know if this is the right fourm forthe question but I've been on the pill for over 10 yrs, and my Doc has suggested moving onto the Implant- Implanon.
The obviosu benefit is not having to remember to take it but he said that as this is progesteron (sp!?) only I will probably find it easier to lose weight, have less mood swings.
do any of you have any experiences with this? I'd be realyl grateful of any feedback ![]()
I have this and it's fab!! No forgetting to take it or leaving it at home if you're staying away, no worrying about using extra contraception if you're on antibiotics or have a tummy bug or whatever. And best of all NO PERIODS!!!
I found it relatively easy to lose weight before so don't know if it helped at all but it doesn't increase appetite or anything like the pill does so you shouldn't put on weight. As for mood swings, I suffer from depression and anxiety anyway so I still get these BUT you don't have PMT to contend with!
I'd say go for it, I love having it, it's practically 100% foolproof and will keep me safe all the way through university at least! I'd definately recommend it, not least for the fact that you can say "Hey, wanna feel my implant?"
Thank u so much for your reply- i suffer from anxiety too, so i'm hoping if i can eliminate my pmt that will be one less thing affecting my moods etc. I'm booked in to go see my doctor monday- if i drop an lb or so thats great- but think the lack of pmt and hopefully periods is enough to convince me! x
Good luck with it :)
I've been using Implanon for a few months and I am very pleased with it. I don't have any mood swings with it. I didn't start actively trying to lose weight until after I had it so I can't answer that question.
I do suggest that you learn as much as you can from as many different sources as you can. Some people absolutley hate Implanon because of how it effects them. Good luck to you. If you do end up getting one, I hope you love it as much as I do.
Why do I get bad cramps after I eat?
