Contracting tummy really works?

Quote  |  Reply
I work 9 to 5 and I feel like wasting my time just sitting at my desk not doing any calories burning. Any ways to do some simple exercise? I usually lift my calves to level with my thighs and I contract my tummy everytime I remember. Do these work for you? Any other suggestions?

lol I close my door and spend about 10 minutes just walking in circles. I might eventually wear a path in the carpet and get caught!
get one of those big inflatable pilates balls that u sit on to strengthen ur back.. if u have room in ur office anyway :)

try clenching your butt cheeks and holding for a couple seconds before releasing. Do that throughout the day- you will feel it the next day!
I know that when I had ballet classes, my ballet teacher would tell us to contract our stomach muscles for the whole day (or as often as possible) to strengthen both our abs and back. It helped me so much I rarely had to do ab workouts. I'm sure that having athletics helped a lot as well, like running with your abs contracted but still relaxed enough to extend those muscles while breathing. Honestly, I've never had a 9-5 job sitting all day, but I'd say get up for everything you can. And if you live in a city area, you can always walk to the restaurant you're eating at for lunch instead of drive. Sorry I'm not much help.
i've heard of this as the 'pilates prep move'. I do think it works, and i actually do it so often that i don't even realize i'm doing it sometimes anymore. i'll be laying in bed trying to fall asleep and realize i'm contracting my stomach muscles and i have to tell myself to relax!
If your building has stairs you can walk up and down those when you need a break.  My building has 5 floors that are spaced widely apart providing a good stair climb that I do 3 times a day.  I'm out of breath by the time I reach the fith floor.
belly rolls start at the top go down then roll back up
