Money. The doctors just want to get paid. She may be motivated by money. But from the article she may be having all these kids thinking they will make her happy. She may really have mental issues.

Very true. I don't know if they do any of that before they let people go through the process.

*nod* There are a lot of doctors saying that, given the woman's life situation and age, implanting that many embryos was unethical and should never have been done.  (Of course, it's apparently not clear whether or not she was implanted or on fertility drugs or what.)

I don't know either.

But I think maybe the doctors in question, and the entire state, should be looking really closely at this and try to determine if maybe they should legally change something so that no one else can do this again...

The article I read said she said they were all IVF. With 'donated' sperm from a friend. But she was married at the time the first 6 were born. And the previous miscarriages she had were tubal (sp). So that means both her and her husband were producing the right stuff. Why not use his sperm? There are just too many weird things with her story.

I have often theorized that there are some women (some, a few, not all) who have babies less because they truly want children and more because they have a need for attention.  I sometimes think the octuplet woman is one of these cases.

I'm seriously batting around the idea of forming a locked group where people who actually know how to discuss/argue various issues can argue them in peace without a certain group (whom I won't call a clique, but they are a group) coming in and taking over the entire thread.

Seriously considering.

I miss being able to have serious, interesting conversations.

Hi Laura.  Yeah Kim I'm still around.  Taking advantage of the lull in business this morning and doing some copying.  Thankfully the copier is on the other side of my desk, so I just keep walking around my desk.  Yay, exercise.  :)
