Anyone been able to figure this out?
everyone is different!
I drink LOTS of water all day long (its all I will drink during the week)
eat a protein filled breakfast 5:30am
1/2 grapefruit mid morning 8:30am
get some excerises "walk" (20 min) 10am
eat a "huge" garden salad with vinegar dressing for lunch noon
get some more exercise "walk"(20 min) 2pm
sugar free jello or yogurt or grapes or apples for a mid day snack 4pm
eat a well rounded dinner 6pm
go for a 60 min "fast walk" 7pm
9pm go to bed!
this works for me most of the time. When I feel hungry I drink more water and go for a walk to clear my head (at work I stare at a computer all day long). So I need to take my breaks during the day...otherwise I would snack my way through....not good on the body :-)
another thing that may work for you is to be prepared for your hunger, carry with you something that you can eat (and not feel bad about). fresh veggies, water bottle, trail mix, protein bar, apples....
I stay away from sugar because when I start I cant stop and it makes me "think" I am hungry...
Good luck! and remember when you need encouragement cc is here for you!!
Thanks for the advice and support CC. I'm an accountant so i know all about the "stare at the computer" thing. What do you do during your breaks? Go for a walk during the day?
Funny I am accounting/fleet services!!!
Yes I walk during my breaks about 20 min at about 3.5 mph 2x's a day and I try for a short one after my lunch at noon! It may not seem like much but it helps me :-) if I could shower at work I would jog but I don't think my co-workers want to see me all sweaty...ha ha
before I started cc I thought I was a pretty good "healthy" eater...drank my 64 oz of water everyday and my salad for lunch. But I started logging EVERYTHING and saw how much or little I did consume and of what! it was an eye opener for me.
Good luck again we know you can do it!!don't want to get that accounting ass everyone keeps telling me about... ha ha (that was not intended as in insult to anyone) just some motivational talk that helps me! nothing personal..to anyone!
That's great advice, thanks and good luck to you too on you healthy goals.
What kind of accounting do you do? I'm in public accounting, just curious how the other side is.
I find for me the best way to stave off hunger is drinking a lot of water and chewing gum. also chewing the gum helps keep me from snacking because I don't want any food to mix with the gum and I don't let myself take the gum out when I know I’m not really hungry. The guy in the cube right behind me has a drawer FULL of chocolate we are talking good chocolate and he makes sure the whole department knows about it and welcomes everyone to take as much as they want. So sitting right in front of him seeing people come and help themselves all day it is really hard 10 minutes before lunch when I’m really hungry not to eat it, but it doesn’t mix well with gum so… I haven’t eaten any since June 15th
Wow ranyave, Gum does the opposite for me, My stomache is saying "she's chewing, here it comes..." and nothing ever comes!![]()
Take psyllium!!! Thats the best thing I ever did....I'll put a small amount of milk in a cup, and add water..then put a spoonful of splenda, and 2 tbsps of psyllium in it and eat with a spoon then wash it down with a glass of water....3 times a day...After the 3rd or 4th day, you'll feel significanlty fuller during the day!!
Eat. More specifically, eat lots of vegetables and make sure you get enough fat, fibre and protein in your diet. (The veggies will take care of the fibre part.)
- Fat: Fat triggers satiety. A stir fry cooked in 1 tsp. of oil per person will keep you full longer than one cooked with no oil in a non-stick pan. 1 piece of toast with butter or peanut butter will keep you full longer than 2 pieces of toast without.
- Protein: Protein takes longer to digest which keeps you full longer. A glass of milk will keep you full longer than a glass of juice (or a glass of water, but I was going for a calorie-equivalent comparison).
- Vegetables: Sometimes, you're just hungry. There's only about 30 calories in a whole cucumber. There's only 5 calories in a cup of spinach. 20 calories for a large tomato. You can have a really big salad for less than 100 calories. Or snack on a ton of veggie sticks for the same. Plys they're full of nutrients, so you're less likely to get vitamin-deficiency cravings.
I like light popcorn. Its 15 calories a cup. 4 cups with 16oz of water and I am satisfied for a while. Also, i love this drink called Crystal Bay Grape Water. Its 0 calories and taste like Welches grape soda, it goes great with the popcorn too.
There are many great snacking ideas listed here already. I am an emotional eater, so I want to make sure that what my body really wants is food and not comfort.
This is what I do to curb the Hungry Horrors:
- Go for a walk (burning calories sometimes keeps you from eating them).
- Call a friend (it's rude to eat while on the phone).
- Work on my hobby, sewing (can't sew and eat at the same time).
...and if none of these things are working (which means it's pretty serious), I will:
- Eat sugar-free jello (yes, the ENTIRE package).
- Eat 2 Weetabix wafers slowly while drinking water between bites (filling).
...if after all this I am still hungry, I will give in and have myself a high calorie day because my body is obviously needing more food.
