The Controversial 5 Bite Diet

Quote  |  Reply

For a quick video clip from Entertainment Tonight or similar brain rotting Celebrity News Show see this link.

Before finding CC, I, along with many other people in the world, have been on diet after diet.  Atkins, South Beach, Cayenne Pepper, Cabbage Soup, low-carb, no-fat, high-protein madness.  Of course none of them worked, as diets aren't typically meant to be a lifestyle choice like CC, healthy choices and moderation.

When I saw this freakin' clip on TV I could not believe it.  First off, this diet claims that you will lose the weight and "never" put it back on.  Secondly, it claims the diet is like having gastric bypass surgery because it shrinks your stomach.  Third, it's based on a 5 bite rule - at each meal (3), you eat 5 bites of "anything", and you're done.  It shows a woman eating a McDonalds hamburger at lunch time.  As long as she eats it in five bites, or eats five bites of it, that's apparently all she needs.

The only rule other than the five bites is that you are encouraged to make a part of your meal protein.  It's just gross to me that someone is hocking the idea of eating "whatever you want" as long as it's five bites of that "whatever".

*sigh*

I could go on for ages about how wrong this diet is, but I will refrain!  I just wanted to let people know about yet another silly fad diet that's making waves.

Last rant: I mean, yeah, I'd be skinny too if I ate 5 bites of ice cream at every meal, but I would also be in a wheelchair from the lack of vitamins and nutrients from a balanced intake of food.  Gah.  When will people learn that there is no quick healthy way of losing weight?

wtf? people will say anything...

thanks for the interesting (though upsetting!) post!
I know, right!?  What's next?  Seriously.
Yeah, crazy... And did you read peoples comments... They actually want to do it!!!

And after a few days you will end up in the hospital because you passed out some place from starvation... that's the stupidest idea I've ever heard in my life! Whoever thought of it should be put up against a wall and shot.

you wouldnt pass out.  Can prolly do 3 bites of food every 4 day and still "live" and be concious (sp?)

OMG. It's sad how dumb people are. (and even sadder that people are really willing to eat 15 bites a day to be thin.)

Not to mention the loon thinks everyone should have a BMI of 18.5 (um, that's underweight!)

I don't know about you guys, but I can so eat a Whopper in five bites if I try hard enough.  And if I'm really hungry, I'll put all the fries on the sandwich.
I just have to laugh sooooo hard how he tries to look really 'scientific' when he tells his story, ehm, so, ehm, he thinks to make money out of this? Cause that can be the only reason for him to talk BS like that! What a JOKE!!!! I don't even get it that people actually fall for this!!!!

Oooohhh! I have a new one! It's called the 10-Pound Hammer Diet. You can eat whatever you want, and I mean ANYTHING as long as you whack yourself in the face with a hammer afterward. Guaranteed you'll lose weight (particularly once you've progressed to the "maintenance" stage: the Hospital Drip Diet).

Wait wait wait, maybe it is feasible if you take really really BIG bites! *snicker*
OK let me see I will challenge myself to eat a Mc D's cheeseburgar in 5 bites......Easy
Ha, my hubby can eat a Mc D's cheeseburger in one bite *rofl*  That sounds like my kind of diet.  Can you imagine how much chocolate you can eat in five ginormous bites?
McD's cheeseburger: 310 calories. 5 bites, no fries. Yep, it could happen. Big Mac - not so much. Still comes down to the selections one makes. Still comes down to strengthening one's self control.

The logic that shrinking your stomach helps is not bad logic. It is exactly what happens with gastric bypass and lapband. And both those proceedures come with a high protien meal plan.

So the only variable becomes: controlling your hunger enough to limit your intake. My personal answer is to have very small meals throughout the day while watching my overall caloric intake very closely. Sometimes I can do it, sometimes I can't.

Perserverance is key.

Thank goodness everyone here believes in moderation and healthy lifestyle, because the nutters that replied under that video are insane! By eating right and tracking what I stick in my mouth, I've lost eight pounds so far. The diet that doctor is pushing is about self-control, but it's aimed at controlling the wrong thing. It's not just how much you eat, it's what you eat. And if someone has enough self-control to eat only 15 bites a day, they certainly can transfer that to a healthier way of losing weight.

And yes, I'm sitting at my computer, taking what is probably my 50th bite of the day. :)

under 18.5 is underweight.

But yeh...dumb diet.

Wow, that is some crazy now.

For those who lack the willpower to maintain this diet, I suggest the "no chew diet". Just have your friend club you in the face hard enough to break your jaw so you have to have your mouth wired shut. Voila!

I'd better quit, I might be giving some people ideas lol
Hmmm a forced liquid diet?  That would be helpful for a while at least lol ;-)
wow...that diet is just sick.
