How to convert/reduce ingredients in recipe

Quote  |  Reply

I found this holiday recipe on CC for "reindeer poop" but it makes 100 servings. I would like to reduce the recipe to only make 25 servings. So how do I reduce 3 cups of oatmeal, 2 cups of sugar, .25 cup of cocoa, .5 cup milk, .5 cup butter, .75 cup of peanut butter by four??

well..divide all the ingredients by 4?

ex. 3/4 cups of oatmeal

2/4 or 1/2 cup of sugar

.25/4 or 1/16th cup or 1 tablespoon of cocoa

.5/4 or 1/8 cup or 2 tablespoons milk

.5/4 or 1/8th cup or 2tablespoons butter

.75/4 or 3/16th or 3 tablespoons peanut butter

Im pretty sure thats right, maybe somebody could check my math

Thanks. I needed help with the ingredients that was calling for .25 cup! So thanks alot.

no prob! i hope my math is right!

Just remember there are 16 tablespoons in a cup, 8 in half a cup, and 4 in a quarter cup....for future reference!

Great. I didnt know that. Thanks for the reference.

Use Google as well.  Type this line:

convert .25 cup/4  to tablespoons

and it gives you the answer:

(.25 US cups) / 4 = 1 US tablespoon
