Cooking anything nice this Valentine's Day?

Quote  |  Reply

Just wondering what your romantic meals are going to be tonight?

I'm cooking:

boiled new potatoes topped with a massive handful of watercress with strips of smoked salmon layered on top, with a dill and lemon juice vinaigrette.

We have strawberries with mint and sugar for afters :D

I made my boyfriend some heart-shaped waffles topped with blueberries, sugar free maple syrup, butter, and powdered sugar.

Then for lunch we're going to our favorite Japanese place and I'm getting sushi and hibachi salmon.

Dinner won't be anything special, though.  Your meal sounds delicious by the way!
Starter - Asparagus wrapped in pancetta with hollandaise sauce

Main - Duck breast with raspberry coulis served with green beans and potato and gruyere croquettes

Dessert - Choclate torte with fruits of the forest

And no I'm not calorie counting for this meal!!

Lol rockydog, I'm not gonna calorie count tonight either! I'm making tiger shrimp cocktail (with the martini glass, and lemon wedges, and celery - all the works), then pasta with shrimp and Alfredo sauce (made from scratch), and homemade vanilla milkshake topped with whipped cream and almonds for the hubby for dessert. I'm gonna serve the main course with caesar salad and garlic bread with cheese and fresh parsley. Yummy! Too bad I don't get off work until 6 pm, but we'll just make it a late dinner then :)

Good luck with all the cooking and bon apetit! :)

I have sirloin tip steaks marinating in the refrig right now to grill later.  Making a spinach puff, artisian bread, red cabbage and onions and for dessert, strawberries in Nutella fondue.  Maybe a bottle of red.  Happy Valentine's Day!

Our Valentines dinner is tomorrow since the boy is still in Istanbul for work.

So he's getting a lovely organic Moroccan Lamb PIE and I'm making him roasted mashed potatoes with gravy.  (No way I would make a lamb PIE, it came from our organic delivery!)  Also, Ratatouille I'm making tonight.

I will probably have left over Ratatouille over a small scoop of potatoes.  Followed by a lush bottle of Rioja I picked up today!

Home made Lemon Bars for dessert! Laughing

What's a lemon bar? I like lemons :D
The lemon bars I make have a shortbread cookie bottom crust with a semi-gooey top layer of lemon filling.  When cooled, I dust them with powdered sugar...very yummy!

I never cook (fiance does it, lucky me!), so my Valentine's Day gift to my fiance is that I will actually cook tonight.  :D  We'll probably be doing hamburger helper and cake from a mix (I said I never cook - I can just about boil water and brown meat!), but I haven't decided for sure yet.  Gotta go to class in 15 minutes and on my way back will be stopping by the store.

We are roasting a whole turkey breast and having spaghetti squash and cucumber salad on the side. Yum yum!

We're both dieting together, so we are planning to stay on track tonite Smile

Kat, lemon bars are fabulous!  Really easy to make, but obviously not low-cal!  Let me know if you want the recipe! :)
Its my sisters birthday today, so its portillos for dinner, her choice, and im going to bake her some cookies ^^
I'm going to kat0386's for dinner.

Alex and I don't make a big fuss over this holiday.  He's letting me do things this year because it'll be my only year ever celebrating Valentines Day with a fiance, so I did get him a present, but for dinner, we bought TV dinners yesterday and will probably have that.

Unless he's got somethin' up his sleeve I don't know about, which he'd better not 'cause I just a high calorie breakfast with my nephew.  I hate breakfast, but he wasn't going to let me out of that room until I ate something.

I made a fancy but healthy breakfast this morning - low-sodium bacon and dry-fried eggs, and I made small pancakes (I left the sugar and fat out and honestly didn't even notice the difference!)  topped with  microwaved strawberries (no sugar) and the big lashout was  topping the pancakes with real maple syrup...  it was yummy, and since I only had ONE of everything (and carefully measured out my tablespoon of maple syrup) it didn't have any more calories than a regular brekky. Except for the big glass of OJ DH poured me when my back was turned... oh well. Once in awhile won't hurt!

I don't know what we're having for dinner yet - DH is going to take me to the supermarket in a few minutes and we'll see what appeals. It will definitely include dessert and apple cider. :)

My mom made my dad a his favorite cake (homemade carrot cake) in the shape of a heart. One day I'm gonna find out how many calories is in it.

Tonight we are getting a couples massage (yay!) and then I'm going to make us a simple (but cute) dinner.

I found this adorable pasta at World Market--it's white and pink hearts.  So we will have that, some wine, and I'm making a chocolate-cherry cake for dessert (in a heart-shaped cakepan, of course!).
2 boxes of chocolate
2 boxes of chocolate

We had Sonic Burgers... with a friend tagging along.

Last night though, we celebrated by going to an Italian/Japanese restaurant and splitting dishes (I got Chicken marsala with spinach fettucini! yum yum yum!!!). Then we had some fruit/chocolate fondue while watching a movie.

Tonight we didn't get done with work until 8, so we were home pretty late. He's playing Mass Effect with his friend and we're expecting another one over for a few drinks later on. So, that'll be kind of fun. :)

..Sometimes I wish my boyfriend was more romantic. He gave me $65 to shop with (got a real Victoria's Secret bra... ooo!) and he paid for me to get waxed at a salon, hahaha. Neither very romantic, but both appreciated.

Buon giorno de San Valentino! Boun Apetito! <3

we had the crab cakes from the Weight Watches All-Time Favorites cookbook... a very good recipe if you want something that feels fancy but won't wreck your diet (plus, it left some room in the calorie count for some of that valentine candy!)

Real maple syrup is soooooo delicious.  Thats what I call a worthwhile use of calories.
