Cooking Brown Rice
Inherently, I am a lazy man. I love eating rice and actually enjoy eating brown rice which is better for me. But the problem is that it takes so much longer to cook brown rice vs. white rice. Are there rice cookers that cook brown rice?
Also, what are some tips you have when it comes rice cooking? Anything will help.
I cook brown rice in the oven. It sounds weird, but the even, uniform heat lets me forget about it while it's cooking, and I don't have to worry about any rice sticking to the bottom of the pan. I put 1 cup of rice and 2-2 1/2 cups of water in a smallish glass baking dish in a 325 degree oven, sometimes with a tablespoon of butter. I cover with some aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes or so.
I love brown rice... When I have the choice, I'll always choose it over white rice. I also like other, exotic kinds of rice, like red rice from Bhutan or the Camargue in France or Chinese black "forbidden" rice.
