Is it ok to spritz things with cooking spray? For instance, when I bread meat I spritz both sides with cooking spray and bread it and then repeat. I know the bottle says 0 calories, but I add a tsp of oil to my recipe analyser so I'm counting it, but I just need to know if that's bad for you.

It's not bad for you in moderation, but the calories and fat can add up if you always drench your food with it.
Yes, but ount the cals. O cals? What are you using?? OUrs is at least 1 cal per spray and you need 3. Depends what type of oil too.
SOmetimes you need cooking spray to lightly cover things or they dont crisp. And spray is better than drenching in oils. Just try to stick to canola or olive oil (better) rather than veggie oil. And light sprays

No way - don't use cooking spray! Use Becel Spray Butter or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray Butter. They have 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 fat, and 0 sugar. They're made with water, soybean oil, salt and preservatives. Much healthier than PAM and much more diet-friendly than straight oil.
Though extra virgin olive oil and canola oil are okay in moderation!

Whats wrong with canola oil cooking spray? I mean, you gotta get one thats not packed with added crap, but there's heaps around.
its only more diet friendly as its easier to use a lot less.

i use i can't believe its not butter spray too, it is really 0 calories right?
The sprays still have calories in them...they are mostly all fat (sometimes with added things to keep them from clumping or flour for baking).
They list 0 calories on the cans because the government allows them to round down (they make the serving sizes 1/4th of a second or something very very small so they can round down to 0 calories).
Dont be fooled...like i said above, its almost all fat and oil. Its just a marketing trick to get people to use them.

Check out your nearest kitchen gadgets store. You can purchase your own pump & spray container for oil and fill it at home with olive oil. Not only is it cheaper in the long run than the cooking sprays (which I used to buy) but you will know what's in it.
Yeah I want to do that, but how to figure out how much is coming out in a spray?
