So much cooler on-line?...

I have this theory, that some (no names) of the frequent posters in the lounge are really nerdy, reclusive, shy, and/or otherwise socially inept... in real life.

Now, don't take this the wrong way. The whole reason I thought of this is because the only time I really post, and/or read others posts in the lounge is when I'm avoiding real life, don't want to do what I'm supposed to do, or in one of my "don't want to be part of society" moods. So, you see how it could lead me to conclude this with regard to the cc'ers that seem to be posting at all hrs. of the day and night. Right?

So, what about it? Do some you "cc lounge frequent flyers" fit this description?

Are you cooler on-line?

I don't know what you mean by cooler, but I've always been a nerdy, reclusive, shy and socially inept person and I've never tried to hide it. I am who I am, online and offline. I'm just more sociable online.

You make it sound like being nerdy, reclusive, shy and social inept is a negative thing.

I think that the ones who are first to jump on people and insult them were probably made fun of and are socially awkward.

The people who are generally nice are probably just regular people outside of the internet too.

And the neurotic people like myself probably have some distant relation to Woody Allen.

So...  what you avoiding tonight??  ;)

Oh, and I am totally cooler online. 

IRL, I have to manage a household, pay bills, manage a store, keep up with whats new in my field, clean up cat puke and kitty litter, maintain my home, weed the garden, wash this dishes, do the laundry etc....

Here, I get to wear a Lara Croft outfit! >;)

Ok. I think your on to something here. Maybe whatever trait or behavior one respresses most in their real life is the one that is most prominent in their on-line persona?

I used to work in a Catholic nursing home and they had a Alzheimer's unit that was home to several Catholic Nuns with advanced Alzheimers dementia. Anyway, those old, demented Nun's cursed like sailors! Because it was something they spent so many years repressing, it was magnified once they had no control over it! Weird, huh? You should have heard some of the things that would come out of their blessed mouths...Sheesh!

I like to post only in the Lounge and I'm not nerdy, reclusive, shy and/or otherwise socially inept. I'm actually quite interactive with people, intelligent, articulate and I love to support those looking for help when I can and I am no different online than I am offline....

And I do have a social life outside of CC, no matter what time of the day or night I post.

I was tormented as a child and I don't think I attack people on here...

Or at least I hope I don't!

 You got me... ;) Avoiding (actively) the guilt I feel for not working out this weekend, not going to work, the mint choc chip ice cream and donut I just ate... O, yeh, and I don't want to think about the fact that I really like this guy I just started dating and it stresses me out to think I might get attached to another man (again) and end up getting hurt (again).... There are many different sides to a person... for me, this forum is just one side.

In some areas of real life, I act exactly the same with strong opinions and discussions.

In other areas of real life I am completely non-serious and very funny.

Then in others, I am more reserved and very quiet.

Even online, I am different depending on the site I am on.

I would imagine it is the same for most. People are much more dynamic than simply "shy or not". They are called moods, everyone has them...and they change.

As for nerdy, yup, I am nerdy ... in that I like learning things and know a lot (though, again, sometimes you just don't want to think).

 Haha.. well I pretty much am a female Woody Allen, though I don't plan on adopting a child and then marrying them in the future.. I just plan on staying neurotic and dirty minded and pessimistic(sp?) for the rest of my life.  Just the way I like it :)

I'm far worse in person. I chased some b'tch down at the grocery store for giving me a dirty look. Screw that. If you don't like my driving, let's hear about it rather than running into the store then flipping me off through the window. She won't do that again.

I think I'm a lot more talkative on-line then in person. I think I express myself better through my writing then in words and it's easier to type things you may be too self conscious to say in person. Ha Ha.

but, the same personality is pretty much still there. :)
