Ok, I have a dilemma. I've been watching what I eat and counting calories. I eat Yogurt and fresh fruit for breakfast and usually some OJ. For a snack I eat a Banana, for lunch I usually go to Sub way and Dinner varies with what I'm in the mood for. I always eat dinner at 7 and at 8:00 I go work out for 45minutes to and hour. I usually lose a pound a day. Seriously. Since I've started working out and doing this exact schedule I've been losing weight really fast.
Well, my friend wants to lose weight so she's been doing the same thing and she'll be lucky if she loses 4 ounces.
Whats up? Any advice?
the more overweight you are, the faster you lose. Plus your deficit is probably huge too.
Whats a deficit?
Your deficit is the amount of calories under the amount it takes to maintain your current weight. If you have a large deficit, you're eating a lot less calories than you need to stay the same weight.
It's also typical to lose weight very fast in the beginning. A lot of it end up being water weight, and your rate will naturally slow down once that's gone. How long have you been on this program?
Don't forget that it's just as important to make sure you're eating enough, as it is to make sure you're not eating too much. How many calories are you eating a day? What is your age/weight/height? How many extra do you burn at the gym?
1 pound a day when you first start (as in, for the first week or so) is nothing to be alarmed about, but losing weight too quickly for a long period of time indicates that your calorie deficit is too big (the difference between what you eat and what you burn). After not too long, your body will start to become alarmed at how quickly you're losing, and how few calories you're eating, and will slow your metabolism way down, making it much harder to lose weight, even with fewer calories.
