Has anybody ever used the core secret workout? I'ts a big inflatable ball that you use in different positions as you follow along to a dvd. I was told it would relieve pressure from my spine making it easier to exercise. True or not?
I never liked those exercise balls. Some people swear by them but I find them to awkward. I am sure there are plenty of people here that would recommend them.
it is a program like any other based around the swiss ball or fitness balls. there are hundreds of moves that one can do with a swiss ball and most (if not all) promote core strength. the word 'secret' is misleading in that fitness information that works is freely available.
so, true yes - fitness balls do relieve pressure on the spine and promote core strength.
true no, this program is no secret and not necessarily worth the money. unless, of course, you collect workout dvd's ~
Thanks for the feed back!
I have back problems and cant seem to strengthen my core muscles with the traditional sit ups , crunches, etc... as they hurt by back. I heard of this core secrets thing and thought maybe it was the answer.
JuJu;
I too have back issues and use a fitness ball for some of my work outs, usually 2-3 times a week. When I first started I used the exercises on this web site. Look under exercise, beginner's corner, beginner ball work out. Then you can advance to any DVD if you so choose.
Thanks lonestar, will check it out. Did you ever experience any back pain while using the ball? Or the next day?
I work very hard when I use the ball and occasionally have a little discomfort during exercise. More fatigue and weakness than any thing. Occassional muscle spasms when I get home, very seldom. Last night we were doing complete extension before each crunch and I felt it at the time, but no big deal. Today my abs are sore, upper back muscles a little sore with funny movements. Low back is great. I also have had major low back issues with a huge surgery thrown in. I love my fitness ball, 3 years ago when my therapist suggested it I thought she was nuts. Small steps, push yourself to slight discomfort. If you don't push a little you won't advance. Listen to your body. Good luck and have fun.
I absolutely love core secrets! It is very relaxing and it doesn't put a lot of stress on your body. The work out is at a slow pace and is effective. I believe it does relieve pressure on your spine just because being on a round surface like the ball stretches out the kinks in muscles and such.
I too love core secrets! They have made a very short dvd workout for the days you can't get your entire workout in or if you just want to add to your everyday workout. I find it easier on my back and really enjoy the workout. It is very inexpensive compared to other fitness balls sold at walmart or academy sports, and comes with a dvd to workout with.
Thanks for your feedback! I borrowed the ball and dvd from a friend and used it for the first time today. I made it through the 25 minute workout with no problem. I pray that I don't wake up in pain. My back is very tempermental!!
I like sitting on the fitness ball as a chair when I use the computer - that helps my back.
I had the Core Secret dvd that came with the ball, but I found it pretty boring. I tried it a few times, and I don't really find ball exercises that interesting. However, they're pretty good exercises in themselves.
