I eat corned beef with veggies for a dinner by removing with a slotted spoon, but also keep the broth and veggies together as it is an excellent soup the next day, spice it up to taste.

Recipe Ingredients for Corned Beef and Cabbage

1 lb corn beef brisket
5 carrots
3 ribs celery
1 onion
1/3 turnip
1/2 head of cabbage
4 potatoes
2 cloves garlic
1 worcestershire sauce
1 salt and pepper to taste

Recipe Directions for Corned Beef and Cabbage

  1. Put corned beef, onions and garlic in crock pot, just cover with water and cook 1 hour on high. Add a couple of shakes of worcestershire and salt and pepper.

  2. Add rest of veggies (except for cabbage)cut in large chunks, turn to low and cook for 3 -4 hours (check after 3 hours to ensure veggies are still a little firm).

  3. Remove veggies with slotted spoon and place in bowl.

  4. Remove corned beef, cool and slice. Put cabbage pieces in crock pot on high with sliced corned beef and cook for 1/2 - 1 hour (check cabbage firmness to your choice).

  5. Combine with veggies, warm up and serve.
