Exercising does give you an adrenaline rush, and it has been noted that you shouldn't exercise right before bed because it does keep you awake.
thanks for the reply.  the only time i have to work out is around 6 or 7.  Usually I try to goto bed around 1030-11pm.  I just find myself still wide awake by then..
I can't sleep if I am trying to go to bed hungry. Maybe save some calories to eat something right before you go to sleep... that totally helps me. And the Kava kava tea.
I turn on the history channell or golf channell! Thats enough to knock anyone out!LOL

I suppliment with GABA and it helps me fall asleep.

I have suffered insomnia for years.  I don't think exercise is totally to blame since I had insomnia before I started working out.  But if you find since you started to work out and now can't sleep then you may need to wake up early and do your work out first thing vs in the evening and then you should be able to sleep better.

In the meantime try Valerian Root, melantonin or sominex.  I use the Walmart generic sleep aid it has a different drug than the pain killer PMs as they don't work for my insomnia.

I also now take prescription meds - don't get that Rozerem - its worthless and expensive too.  If you are going to do a prescription Remeron works well and it has a generic.  Its an antidepressant but works wonders for insomnia.  I also have found Xanax to be my friend LOL....  My insurance won't let me refill my ambien anymore so Xanax and remeron are what I use and actually work better than ambien at keeping me asleep.

I'm still recovering from the time change. But working out doesn't bother me.
I have struggled with insomnia for years. I've learned that a low-carb diet will cause insomnia for me. I need to have 1-2 servings of carbs at dinner, or forget it... I'll be tossing and turning.

If I'm having trouble sleeping, I eat something small and carb-rich. Don't need to go crazy - 1/4 cup rice works. The glass of milk also tends to work good. (Does not have to be warm).
I actually have the same problem too.  Before I started exercise, I always had great sleep.  It took me seconds to fall asleep and stay sound sleep until alarm woke me up.

Now, I start to have problem falling asleep.  Sometimes, it takes hours so I have probably 2-3 hours less sleep than before.  However, I have to say that I don't feel particularly more tired during the day.  I guess it might be because I need less sleep since I am exercising??? I don't know.  Now I just go to bed until I feel really tired.  It is being ok for the last two nights.  Let's see if it works in a longer term.....
