Cottage Cheese -Eeeewww or Whoohoo??
I am trying to up my protein intake since I don't eat meat- I have never liked cottage cheese but heard it has alot of protein and is more filling than greek yogurt.
I bought some today-small curd (even that word is distasteful) with pineapple in it. At first spoonful I thought, hmmm not bad, but by the third forget it. I think it is the texture-if it were spread on a cracker-maybe... but that sort of defeats the purpose since I am trying to stay relatively low carb.
Has anyone gotten over this??? Is there a brand that is better?

I like the potato and black bean idea, the sandwich/wrap idea and to bulk up salad. I have a spinach salad almost everyday for lunch-now I wish I had some plain in the fridge!
I am skeptical about mixing with PB -but PB is one of my most favorite things! Also yogurt.
I am determined to like it because I need more protein-there are many things I have grown to like!
Also these ideas with some pasta/tomato/dishes. I am sure my mother used to use it in lasagna and shells. Hmmm.
Cottage cheese with pepper on a baked potato is great! I put cottage cheese and shredded carrots on top of white cheddar rice cakes. i love cottage cheese

I'm addicted to the stuff..everytime I go to the fridge, I grab a large spoonful, and sometimes will go to the fridge just so I can grab some cottage cheese, straight out of the tub. I have never tried adding fruit, but I use it as a spread with spinach, smoked salmon, advocado and tomato..another craving.
I'm In australia, and just grab the local safeway no thrills brand. It's much cheaper than weight watchers, but contains exacxtly the same amount of the nutrients.

I had the fortune to grow up on the stuff (not the fat free kind) so now eating Fat Free Cottage Cheese is like heaven in my diet. I love the stuff, most of my diet consists of Cottage Cheese, I usually go to a grocery store and I get the tubs of Lucerne Fat Free Cottage Cheese and eat half of it for lunch then eat the other half about an hour before I work out.
I have always heard that the fat free kind is the 'worst' tasting so you can try going with the 2% milk kind...they all taste the same to me. However for someone who loves Cottage Cheese I can't stand the kind that has the fruit mixed with it.
I actually really love the curd things in cottage cheese. Maybe I'm strange, but I do! The only thing that gets me about the stuff is that it's kind of salty... and since I'm not much of a salt-freak, I always have to mix in some really sweet fruits. My favorites are melons, mandarins, mixed wild berries, strawberries, mangoes or pineapples with coconut.
