Does it count?

Quote  |  Reply

So I have been steadily gaining for a few weeks now, and I am just a few pounds away from what my doctor considers to be a "restored" weight. However, the deal is that I earn my freedom back (i.e. moderate exercise, less monitoring and fewer doctor's visits) once I get my period back. So, in order to do one final push I have cut off almost all exercise (except yoga in a cold room) and have been eating like a maniac. And yesterday, there was some light spotting! This is the first evidence of a period in about a year, so I was ecstatic! However, there have been no other signs of a period since and its been over a full day! Does this spotting count as a period? What can I do to push my body over the edge and produce a full on period?

Give it a little time hun!!!

Its not only about weight, you can be a normal, healthy weight but still not get your period. If your body isnt producing enough estrogen then you wont get your period. You need a certain fat % to have enough estrogen to have a period. Keep eating, repair your body and it will happen.

Answering your question - No i wouldnt consider spotting to be a period. What were your periods like before your ed. Like light/heavy, 3/5/7 days long??

I imagine they wont automaticaly go back to what they were before but in my opinion, when youve had at least three days in a row of bleeding, then youve had a period.

Spotting is a good sign, and i would say that if you keep eating well, next cycle there is a good chance you will have one.

It can take time to get it back. Your body does not reapir fully just because you are at X weight. It takes being consistent. Now it is good you are putting things in to place to help yourself. That is a way to help it come. How is your eating caloric wise and nutrients like fat? Those are also important.
