Do you count midnight as the next day, or when you go to bed?
If I stay up late and eat after midnight (I know it's not a good habit, just occasionally) should I count that as the same day (like if it's a Monday and has just turned midnight so it's going into Tuesday) and write the food down for Monday or for the next day (Tuesday) since it's technically a new morning? Thx!
it shouldn't matter which you do, as long as you are consistent with it. personally my 'day' has nothing to do with the clock. It starts when I wake up and ends when I go to sleep..and naps don't count. Makes it pretty simple for me
I count from the time I wake up. Honestly, either way is not going to make a difference, as long as you pick one way and use it consistently. (i.e. If you start from the time you wake up, do that everyday. OR, if you start counting from midnight on, do that everyday.)
Don't switch back and forth. Pick one way and run with it. :)
It's not necessarily a good idea to count midnight as the next day. You can end up hungry the next day because you've reduced your calories to compensate. Then what do you do? Eat a full day's worth that day and put the extra calories on to the next day, and so on and so on? That's a vicious cycle, and you can end up feeling deprived and frustrated because you start each new day out with a calorie deficit you then have to try and meet but probably can't. It's unreasonable to think that your body won't be hungry in the morning because you fed it at midnight. You're still going to need to eat a full day's worth of food the next day.
Just eat a light, filling snack at midnight if you are hungry and begin the day anew the next morning. Either that or go to bed (unless you are so hungry you really must eat) and break your fast in the morning. But if you consume an extra hundred calories or so at midnight every now and then to quiet your stomach it isn't going to ruin your efforts by any means. It's better than driving yourself crazy trying to keep track of what you already ate for the day and sticking to a reduced menu when you wake up in the morning. Stress is never good for a diet.
I agree with both previous posts. As longs as you stay consistant, it's all that matters. For my sanity ( the little bit that I have left anyways) I just count it from the time I wake up lol
it wont make a difference unless if you count it as the NEXT day and restrict to allow the calories, but chances are that will just put you into some sort of wicked cycle. Just count it as that day and it will average out the same.
it makes no difference whatsoever. your weight is not determined by the clock.
I always count bedtime as the end of a day, not midnight.
I count bedtime as the next day.
When I go to sleep, whatever I eat whenever i wake up is the start of my new day.
when i go to bed.
