Homemade baked french fries.  So yummy.

I used to eat ketchup on my breakfast potatoes, but my husband always puts egg in them, so it's not the same.

I definitely use the ketchup spelling.

I'm in the malt vinegar camp in terms of french fry toppings.  I put ketchup on fake chicken nuggets, though.  That's about it.

KETCHUP!

I haven't had ketchup in a long time, come to think of it... *thinks of healthy things to put it on*

I've gotten a little behind on here but have been doing pretty good, I have been able to keep my weight under 230 still but only by 1 pound now. I gained back a pound over the weekend, but am not surprised nor am I disappointed. I had a Girls Night Out Saturday and completely expected to gain a couple of pounds, so only 1 pound is great!

I'll do a quick summary of where I left off last week:

Favorite meal of the day for me is Dinner, that's when I get to eat with my family and I don't think so much about what food I might be missing out on because I am enjoying conversation so much.

Gross food to me is Yogurt-I just cannot get a taste for it & yes, I have tried many kinds. I just don't like it at all. I also hate the smell/taste of sauerkraut, ewww!Sealed Not gonna eat that stuff! I have to agree with Molly too on the internal organs! Gross!

My birthday is October 16th, sometimes it falls on Sweetest Day & Boss's Day, so for that, I am the sweetest boss for the day! Yippee!

I LOVE yard sales, one person's junk is another's treasure! I have at least 2 yard sales a year. I always find more things to put out after my first one. And the extra cash is always good to have. I have never really found any super treasures, but I'm still looking. My DH & I would love to go to the world's longest yard sale sometime, it goes through several states!

I say Ketchup so thats the way I spell it too, the other seems like it's fake to me. I use ketchup on a lot of things...fries, burgers, hot dogs, meatloaf, hash browns, basically any fried potatoes, onion rings. Of course, I don't eat all that fried stuff anymore.  My DH puts it on scrambled eggs & omelets, but he eats weird combinations with condiments. He puts mayo on hot dogs! Yuck!

Molly I would love to see you start up a fall post. I want to keep this up & I have only had any real success since you started this one. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT! I know that if I log in (even if it's not every day) that I am accountable for my actions! So, Please keep it up, plus I like to read everyone's stories, accomplishments & food/exercise tips.

Ketchup. I put it on hot dogs and french fries. And yes french fries w/ mayo is a german thing! That's the first place I ever heard of such a thing. And their mayo tastes NOTHING like ours! It's so much tastier! That's how I gained 80 pounds when I was preggo with my daughter! lol  I lost 72 the day I had her, so don't worry! ALL water!!! lol

Good news! The 2 lbs I gained last week in the .4 increments is almost gone now! I lost 1.6 lbs over night! Can you believe it? I may have lost it all but had to weigh in early this morning since I had to leave for my dr appt.

QUESTION OF THE DAY -- FRIDAY JULY 18: (Today is my DH's 42nd birthday!) When is YOUR birthday?

February 21

QUESTION OF THE WEEKEND - SATURDAY/SUNDAY JULY 19-20: (We're having a Yard Sale Saturday!) Do you like yard sales? Shopping at them? Selling your stuff at them? Any super treasures you've found???

I enjoy going to them but don't get to very often.  We usually have 1-2 a year between my place and my mom's.  We had a yard sale back in June (very short about 4-5 hours because of rain). I was able to sell my son's bunk bed and got almost 1/3 the price I had originally paid for it plus made a little 4 year old's day  - his mom said that's all he wanted for his upcoming birthday was a bunk bed!

QUESTION OF THE DAY - MONDAY JULY 21: Do you spell it catsup or ketchup? Do you like ketchup? What do you put your ketchup on?

ketchup - love it on burgers/meatloaf, fries, and believe it or not scrambled eggs

Molly: I'd love to see a fall version.  Although I fall behind in reading, I love hearing how everyone is doing and getting hints/tips for getting this weight off in a healthy manner.  I hope you are feeling better.  I've noticed my asthma is much worse right now with the higher humidity and high temperatures.  I'm ready for fall!

BTW I'm back up to 250 after a weekend off on a "mini vacation" to Cincinnati with my husband and kids.  I decided to just enjoy myself and not worry about food. I'm sure that by the end of the week I'll be back down once I'm back to drinking lots of water, eating healthy and getting some exercise.

It seems like ketchup is the popular spelling so who spells it catsup?  Is it a regional thing?  I like ketchup on burgers, fries, onion rings and on top of meatloaf.

I ate pretty poorly this weekend and went over my limit 4 of the last seven days  Each day I start off with a pep talk to myself about getting back on track, but I often seem to struggle these days.  I thought I'd try maintaining for awhile, but some days I'm eating above that.  I'm lucky that I haven't gained weight and I think that has to be to the exercise.  I guess even a bad day is better than what I use to do.

I now understand why it's so easy to gain weight; eating an extra 500 a day is so much easier than reducing by 500.  That can make for a quick pound a week gain.  I've got to get this under control.  I'm really concerned that I although it's been nearly 2 years, I still feel like  I could slip right into old habits.  I wonder if this will get easier?

Catsup is the spelling used by Jonathan Swift (author of Gullivers' Travels), and it was popular in the 18th century.  Ketchup is actually closer to the original word, which was katjap, a general name for a number of different Indonesian sauces.  (Yes I'm a nerd, and I'm proud of it.)

QUESTION OF THE DAY -- TUESDAY JULY 22

(Pretend for a moment you don't care about calories.)  Are you an ice cream "purist" (just ice cream, NO cone, NO toppings), or do you like "stuff" on your icecream? Hot fudge? Caramel? Butterscotch? Nuts? Sprinkles? Fruit? And what flavor of ice cream is your favorite????

MOLLY

I'm definitely not an ice cream purist, but I'm picky about what I combine it with.  I'm a huge fan of the waffle cone, especially when they're made fresh.  I really like it when the waffle cone itself is dipped in chocolate (because really everything should be dipped in chocolate).  I love caramel and hot fudge, but I hate the artificially flavored "fruit" sauces.  Extra nuts, no sprinkles, no cherries please.  My favorite flavor of all time is Ben and Jerry' Chocolate therapy, which was chocolate ice cream with a chocolate pudding swirl.  Evil.  I also really love Hagen Daas caramel cone and Dulce du Leche.

I like Hershey's syrup on my ice cream.  Although I know there are many delicious flavors of ice cream out there, and I've tried them, I prefer chocolate - with chocolate bits in it (brownie, malt balls, chocolate-covered nuts; it's all good).

i do not eat ice cream much, have not done it even when i was eating a lot-i do not have that much of a swet tooth. however, i quite like chocolate ice cream or vanilla combine with hot (very sour!) forest fruit

If I'm going to be totally honest - I really like a banana split.  I like whipped cream and nuts on my ice cream and also hot fudge, pineapple or carmel.  Of course I haven't had one in years but my SO is a banana split junkie and I'll take bites of his.  I like most flavors of ice cream on a sugar cone.

I was just reading in my health news letter that Hersey's Free (fat free) ice cream is delicious.  Suppose to be very creamy and only 90-110 cals per serving.  I'm going to give it a try and will let you know.  Have a great day-Dianne

ICE CREAM!!  Ice cream is my very favorite food in the whole world.  If I had to choose just one dessert that I could only have for the rest of my life, it would be ice cream.  Even the whole time I've been dieting, I have had ice cream nearly every single day.

My usual ice cream fix is just plain ice cream or just plain with some fruit i.e., plain chocolate or plain vanilla with some berries, that sort of thing.  I also enjoy fudge bars and ice cream sandwiches. I do like banana splits, but only have one in a blue moon and prefer to make them myself.  I love the banana and some hot fudge and caramel, but am not big on strawberry or pineapple sauces (love fresh fruit, hate fakey-sauces). Whipped cream and nuts are of course required, but maraschino cherries are the work of the devil.

Although, obviously, premium ice creams can't be beat, there are some pretty darn good low fat and even fat free ice creams out there right now that work very well to satisfy my addiction. I have found that the Breyer's fat free double churn ice cream is very creamy and delicious and is only 90 calories per half cup.  Blue Bunny makes a yummy fat free Brownie Sundae one with swirls of hot fudge and stuff but it doesn't agree with me - I think maybe it has one of those funky fat substitutes in it - so I've stopped buying it (your mileage may vary).  Skinny Cow and Weight Watchers both have pretty decent ice cream sandwiches and there's a whole host of good low cal fudge bars out there. I even like fat free and low fat frozen yogurts.

You picked my favorite topic for this question!  I love ice cream!!

Okay... so...  You take a hot, fresh brownie, put 1/2 cup of ice cream on it, and add hot fudge, caramel, and peanuts.  Then add a spoon and enjoy!  Now that I'm thinking of it, I think I'll make one at work Thursday!

ha. i have an apple/strawberry puree in the fridge. it might be good frozen! will try it. 90 cals for a tub and it will probably take some time to eat.)

QUESTION OF THE DAY WED JULY 23

(Without going into details about who you would choose/vote for) ... If the presidential elections could be held in a few weeks -- rather than way off in November -- would you be ok with holding the elections sooner rather than later?
