QUESTION OF THE DAY MONDAY JULY 28
How close are you to the weight goal you set for yourself at the beginning of this 75 day Countdown Adventure? Doing anything this week to "kick it up a notch?"
My original goal had been to hit my main goal of 120 by the end of August. However, I hit a plateau over the last 6 weeks or so, and just last week finally lost a little more, so I've still got 19 pounds to go. I'm okay with that, though, because as previously stated, the plateau is a normal thing due to the weight I've already lost, so I just keep reminding myself that I'm not doing anything wrong - my body just needs to reset.
I started a second job a few weeks ago, too, so now I'm pretty much working all the time. The upside is that the part time job is much more physical, so it helps me burn calories and is very busy so I don't have time to snack. The downside is that I also don't have time to, and I'm very tired when I do have any time off so am not motivated to, work out.
At this point, not much I can do to kick it up a notch. Just keeping on, keeping on. Probably won't lose 19 pounds in the next month (wouldn't THAT be nice), but that's okay. I know that the fact that it's getting harder and slower now just means I'm getting closer and closer to my goal.
I'll get there!

I didn't really set a specific weight goal for the end of August, but I've been aiming at reaching 230 by the end of the summer (beginning of September). I've lost about 12 pounds since we started the challenge, and I still have a little over 5 to go. I think I'll make it, but it's going to be close. I have been working on reducing my sugar intake, and that seems to have sped things up a bit. I just got back from a 4 day trip to Portland, though, and I'm carrying around 3 pounds of water weight. Hopefully that will come off over the next few days, and then I can get to work on that last 5 or so pounds.

What are you proud of for this summer?

QUESTION OF THE DAY -- TUESDAY JULY 29
What are you proud of for this summer?
I think I've done pretty well this summer. Things I'm proud of:
- I kept going with calorie counting and exercise, even when I didn't lost weight for 3 weeks.
- I was able to let go enough to really enjoy my birthday cheesecake.
- I've continued to exercise daily, even while working a job that keeps me on my feet for 5 hours a day.
- I've upped my protein intake and decreased my consumption of refined sugars.
- I've lost over 12 pounds, and reached two significant milestones (lost 30, then 40 pounds.)

I am really proud of myself for sticking with this! For one, I didn't think I would ever see any results or get myself motivated enough to even try. Second, I am proud that I have logged in one a regular basis, without that I could never have lost any weight. Thank you CC family!!!

I started the challenge a few months into it. But my goal weight for the end of August/ First of September is 174-175. I can make the goal but I will have to loose almost 2 lbs a week for the rest of the summer. But my average has been right at 2 lbs a week. So I know I can do it.
As for "Kicking it up a notch", I can't think of anything specific except to make sure that I don't slack off.

I have stayed on course and have lost an average of 2 lbs a week. I even went on vacation for 5 days and still lost 1 lb that week. I have learned a lot of things which I believe will help me become a healthier and more active person for the rest of my life.

QUESTION OF THE DAY -- WED JULY 30
Ok Ladies, our 75 days of Summer end officially on Friday August 1. My plan is to start a FABULOUS FALL thread in late August, to cover Sept-Oct-November. Shall we just keep this thread open for the next 3.5 weeks or so, until I am back from Alaska and start the new thread? And will you all keep checking in even if the QODs stop when I skedaddle to Alaska?
MOLLY
BUT!!!!
Hey guess what, all!!! I dropped down below 160! I am officially 159.2 as of this afternoon (I didn't weigh myself this morning or else i could have seen maybe 158). But that means I'm only 1.2 lb away from my July goal. While that seems like a lot to accomplish in a day in a half, I've got full intent on eating EXTREMELY healthy tomorrow (even better than usual!), as well as packing some more stuff and working on my feet (which always burns more Calories than I could eat in two days!).
I've not seen a dip below 160 since the end of 10 grade (2003). I'm only 12 pounds away from my first MAJOR goal --> 148 = 50 pounds lost.
I am also proud of my food selection for supper tonight. I had salad with ginger dressing, miso soup, and edamame, with water. Even with that little bit of food (or so it seemed), I felt full about halfway through my edamame and now have about 3/4 to eat later as a snack or as a meal tomorrow.
My Calories are low for today, at 1149, but I'm going to wait until my 10-p.m. munchies before I eat again. Any ideas on how to curb late-night sugar cravings!?
Way to go, Leopardrayne! That's awesome!
On the QOD, I would definitely be interested in sticking around here for August, then moving on to a fall thread.
I think you should keep this thread open til you come back to start the fall one. I'll keep on posting even without the QOD!
Wooo hooo, LeopardRayne!
OK, we'll keep this thread going in August until we start a new one in September .... so keep checking in, y'all!

QUESTION OF THE DAY -- THURSDAY JULY 31
Do you work outside the home? If so, what do you do? If not, what was your last job? (If never, what is your dream job?)

MOLLY
During the school year, I'm a grad student. I'm working on my MA in Slavic Languages and Literatures. This summer, I'm working at our graduate library on campus, which involves lots of walking and heavy lifting. (Yay for getting paid to exercise in the air conditioning!)
I haven't been around for quite awhile, well visible anyway (lurking). I've just been so discouraged stuck on a plateau FOREVER. But I did have to chime in on the QOD about sticking with this thread thru August… please please please people continue posting! I really enjoy seeing your progress and humor etc! I promise I'll read every word! and occasionally write a few myself!
I am absolutely for a September thread also! To show good faith, I'll even answer today's QOD…
Yes I work outside the home, full time, for a publishing company. We publish 5 different community newspapers in the Sacramento CA area, and I love it!
Here's to a healthy end of summer!
I am so glad that you are keeping this thread around, it helps me stick with it!
Currently I do not work outside of the house. I am a stay at home with of 3. I love it, but the pay really sucks! LOL!
QOD ~ I use to work out side of the home as a Certified Nurses Asst. I loved it!
I'm going to be gone for a week or so. Have some personal issues to take care of. I'll be back though.
Take care ya'all! :D
I work for the school district - I'm a Staff Secretary (please note the I capitalized BOTH of those words but refrained from using the word "Extraordinaire"!). I work mostly in Special Education and it's a huge deal, especially with California's budget crisis. We are all in some sort of crisis!
I like the job, LOVE the people I work for/with. Education is such a great environment to work around. Sadly, I mostly sit at a desk....
Bonsfam - what papers in Sacramento? I live just 30 miles up 80 in Auburn...
Do you work outside the home? If so, what do you do? If not, what was your last job? (If never, what is your dream job?)
The answer is:::
Help me, I hate my job. I work at a buffet (the agony!) and I get paid minimum wage. I also go to college full time (except in the summer - during which it's only half-time). For the next month I'll be unemployed merely because my parents are moving, and I promised I'd help until they were on their feet. My dream job is to be a prison psychologist. Until then, I'd just LOVE to leave this buffet setting, and maybe work in social work for awhile.
That's all.
Congrats on everybody for sticking with it these past 75 days and I hope to see you all in Molly's next thread.
P.S. As of TODAY I made my 75-day goal, to 158 lb. Thank you all!
Congratulations leopardrayne!!! Way to go!

It should come as no big surprise that I am a midwife. I actually sort of work in my own home because my prenatal office is behind my home in what formally was a garage apartment. But I also work in other people's homes because I deliver babies in my client's homes. ![]()
Midwifery IS my dream job and I do love it! I can't think of anything more rewarding and the fact that I get paid is just icing on the cake. (Uhh, maybe that was a bad analogy to use to a bunch of calorie counters.) ![]()

I work for an industrial supply house. I've been with the company for 16 years first as accountant/IT but the company was bought out last year and I have since been moved from accounting (well sort of I'm still handling some) to sales/order entry. So far I love it and everyone I work for. The new owners are awesome and very willing to work with us.
