"I've got that goin' for me, which is good" <---- anyone know the reference?

I know "So I've got that going for me, which is nice" is from Caddyshack, when Bill Murray and Chevy Chase are in Bill's "house", and Bill is just talking and talking and Chevy is just trying to get his ball back and play through ...

That is a funny FUNNY movie.

Actually, it's when he's got a guy pinned up against the wall and is telling him how he caddied for the Dalai Lama and when he asked him for a tip afterward, he was promised "total consciousness" on his deathbed, and then he says "So, I got that goin' for me.... which is nice."

Yes, I'm a geek. :P

oh, you're totally right ... the part in his house was the only thing I could think of where he's going on and on, sort of stream of consciousness, but that part is about where he's breeding that new grass for the golf course (among other uses.)

okay, back on topic - sorry for the thread hijack!!

Y'all sound like my husband. The movie name would have been sufficient.  But yes, didn't mean to get us off track.  I am eating cabbage soup from Tabbachnik (brand) It's a frozen soup and they are very tasty!  90 cals for a pretty small serving so I'm supplimenting with frozen veggies + 1 tsp flavored olive oil mmmmmmm

Back to work...

Hello everyone!!

First, for the question of the day -- I hate the original egg beaters!!! The one with yolk is ok, but the original made me gag!!! Never again!!

Ok, I think this is a great idea!! I am already in two groups to lose 10 lbs by July, but I am becoming a challenge whore :) No time like the summer to try to get that rockin body!!!

My goals are pretty much the same as yours, Molly, but I am personalizing them a bit:

1. to count my calories every day. I've only recently become conscious of this, and how my diet affects me. my biggest obstacle is planning my meals, just because I'm doing so much, I never think ahead when it comes to food!! I think I need to dedicate some time on the weekends before I go grocery shopping to draw up a menu for the week and stick to it!!

2. EXERCISE 5 days a week!! This is my first week sticking to this, and the week is almost over. I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN! in an ideal world, I'd like to start jogging every morning. that means going to bed earlier. I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN!

3. drink more water!

4. spend more time outside - this is where the jogging comes in, and the ol' hiking and biking!! hopefully swimming in the ol' water hole as well!!

Welcome aboard, lajohnson1982!!!

You'll find our Countdown Club to be pretty informal, usually upbeat, and that sometimes we wander a bit off track ... which probably burns calories, right? I do post a Question of the Day (QOD) ... just to keep things going. You are free to post your progress, or not .... whatever works for you!

IS EVERYONE DRINKING THEIR WATER??? (I type as I guiltily reach for a gulp)

MOLLY
OK, as I was biking this morning, I narrowly missed running over a mouse that darted out of some bushes ... eeeeek! Talk about swerving and getting one's heart racing.

What diet food do I hate.. Dislike

I hate that fat free cheese. I got some a few weeks back, and that crap made my salad taste nasty. I had to pick the cheese off to finish it. I hate that cheese... DON'T care for it.

Another one is...... That fat free salad dressing. Full of that fake sugar and it's so sweet. Makes my tooth hurts when I think of it. YUK. I can use Equal with no problem.. I just really hate that salad dressing. I can't even taste the Ranch. All I taste is sugar. That fake sugar.

YUK!

Good news to you all. I just lost 2 more pounds.... NOW! I am 162.. I'm doing the happy dance.... :)

Those little moments of panic totally burn extra calories.  I was doing aerobics last month and a huge thunderbolt scared the crud out of me.  My heart rate monitor showed that I burned 13 more calories than usual.

And happy anniversary Molly!  Your progress constantly amazes me and inspires me. As part of the celebration, I'll follow your lead and include 4 servings of broccoli in my dinner tonight, Molly-style.  Congratulations!

lajohnson1982:  Welcome aboard, and I wanted to let you know that, once you get started, you'll get addicted to your morning exercise.  I start my days with a nice, long walk, and I feel weird on the days I skip it.  It was rough waking up early at first, but now I have so much energy from exercise and good food that I don't need an alarm clock anymore.  Good luck!

I also wanted to share my new journal entry with all of you.

Lost 30 Pounds!!
May 22 2008 12:21  Edit |  Delete

I have now officially lost 20% of the weight I want to lose.  Can I do that 4 more times?  Sure!  Was it horribly hard work the first time, full of suffering and toil?  Not really!  Yeah, I haven't had a snickers bar in 4 months, but did they really make me happy?  Nope!  Do you know what does make me happy?  Losing 30 frickin' pounds, that's what!  And baggy underwear!  And my beautiful produce bins!  And losing 30 frickin' pounds!

Pardon me, I'm off to continue my happy dance.

Thank you Molly and Med for the warm welcomes!! I'm hoping joining these challenges will give me some support in losing the weight. I've been on a plateau the last couple months and it's driving me BONKERS!!!! i'm lowering my calorie intake from 1500 to 1250 and adding new work outs (such as the jogging) - pray for me!! And thanks for the encouragement Med!!! I am not the jogging/running type at all!! I had asthma as a teenager, and ever since then have been afraid of running because I've had attacks before - and they're not fun!!

and congratulations, Med, on losing 30 pounds!! wooooo hooooooooo!!! i bet those baggy undies feel good Laughing

I'm in!  I got off track a couple of years ago after losing 20 lb.   I had a relationship go south, and instead of dealing with my feelings properly, I ate emotionally and put all the weight back on.  Embarassed

I'm slowed down by some chronic neck pain and an occasional flare-up of my arthritis, but I'm determined to make up the ground I lost.  I want my stamina back!

Goals:

1.  Exercise 4-5x/week, instead of the 3x I'm doing right now.

2.  Log all my food, so I see if I'm making any major dietary mistakes.

3.  Lose at least 10 lb. during the stated time period, so that the clothes I bought will fit again.

Icky diet foods = almost anything with artificial sweeteners.  Except crystal light.  I can taste almost all of the sugar substitutes (my mom is diabetic and used to have me taste her sodas as a kid to make sure they got it right so I'm very sensitive) and I just don't like them.  I can handle whey low which is essentially a milk sugar in a different form, but that's about it.  If I only have artificial sweeteners as options I'll go without or occasionally use Splenda.

Other icky diet foods = rice cakes, they're not bad for cardboard but they have as many calories as a slice of bread, I'll take the bread, thank you!

Welcome axejudge ... nice to have you with us!!! Please let us know how we can help support you!!!

QUESTION OF THE DAY: MAY 22

What's one so-called "diet food" that you really detest/dislike/avoid/hate?

MOLLY

I have to say that I really hate rice cakes. But I like healthy eating, I just eat way way too much of it. So I guess that it was never healthy eating, I guess I just mean healthy foods.

And again, thanks for sharing your stories, everyone. Molly, your comment about barely makin' it to the mailbox really made me smile. Your progress is incredible! I can't wait until I can build up enough stamina to bike for that long! Your positivity is really an inspiration to me. Thank you.

-My number one goal this summer is to keep my calorie deficit at at least 200 calories every day. That's going to be huge for me, I'm just coming off of 3,500 calorie binges. This is a goal I know I can stick to, even though I might stray once or twice.

-My number two goal is to lose enough weight to do yoga again. That's about 40 pounds, I expect. I don't think I can make it in 75 days, but I'm gonna aim for it. Eyes on the prize! I really miss yoga. I can't do most of the poses anymore because of fat rolls!!!

Goodnight all! :>)

Congrats on the weight loss! 30 lbs is hella awesome!

What's one so-called "diet food" tht you relly detest/dislike/avoid/hate?

I hate fat free cheese. like kraft fat free cheese slices.  blech double blech!!

I am having a hard time with the sodium.  I am vegetarian.  If I eat plain foods...like cooking lentils, and other legumes instead of using the canned counterparts, and eating edamame,peas...then I do pretty good with the sodium.  BUt that gets boring after awhile.  I often make casseroles and then up goes the sodium.  I havent tried the "no salt salt" yet.. I hear they taste kinda funny.  cheese, cottage cheese are high in sodium.  The morning star vege bacon and that type of food is even higher in sodium.  any suggestions?

I am really enjoying this  post.
Morning All-

I'm still struggling with out of control eating.  Hopefully today I will be back on track.  Seems a little daunting with the long weekend here.  There isn't a particular "diet food" that I dislike, however I've had to learn to appreciate fruits and veggies more.  It does seem to be happening though.  Have a good day-Dianne

Diet foods I hate ... fat free salad dressing of any kind ..they all have an aftertaste - and fat free cheese - that stuff is nasty!

Officially down 4.8 pounds! yippee  - have been at this since Jan.  - finally starting to lose.Cool

I was out shopping yesterday afternoon (better stress-shopping than stress eating, right?) and I picked up the niftiest red-white-blue patriotic quilt for less than $20! Anyway, I tried it out on our bed this morning, and it's been officially kitty-tested and cat-approved.  I snapped some photos so I could email them to my wonderful DH.

QUESTION OF THE DAY ... SOMETHING'S FISHY!

Do you like fish? Do you eat fish? What sort of fish will you eat? And do you take a fish-oil supplement? (What the heck, do you own fish?)
