QUESTION OF THE DAY: OCTOBER 2
SOUP'S ON! Favorite soup? Least favorite soup?
MOLLY
I don't usually start eating soup until it's pretty consistently cold outside. After that, I'm a big fan of minestrone and other tomato-veggie style soup. I also really like potato leek soup and green pea soup.
I love Olive Garden's Zuppa Tuscana soup, you can find low-fat version recipes for it online so I make that at home for a wonderful alternative. Least favorite's would probably be pea soup and tomato soup.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: OCT 3
What's one food you've heard about, but never tried?
MOLLY
Quinoa ( not sure i spelled that right) it is a grain with a high protien content. supposed to have other benifits i can't remember... but it seemed high on the calorie content to me, and hasn't jumped off the shelf at the grocery store to me, so i havn't tried it yet.
probably try almond milk before i try quinoa...
Eggplant!
I'm really curious because it looks so funny ahaha.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: OCT 4
Are you a morning person, a night owl, or something else?

QUESTION OF THE DAY: OCT 4
Are you a morning person, a night owl, or something else?
MOLLY
This varies a lot for me. I used to be a total night owl, and that tendency still comes through when I'm hanging out with certain people, or when I'm on vacation and don't have to wake up early. In general, I do my best work in the afternoon and early evening. That's my favorite time for exercise, too. I've never been a real morning person (like my mom who wakes up at 4:30am), but I love the feeling of early mornings in the summer and fall. Taking walks just as the sun is coming up is one of my favorite things.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: OCT 5
Do you all still want me to keep posting QODs?
MOLLY
Hi Molly & Friends,
I'm not new to CC, but looking for a new thread to help motivate me to get back on track. I like the positive energy I've found here!
2 years ago I tipped the scales around 250. I started CC in March at 232 and now I'm 207...I was down to 202 in august, but September brought my 37th birthday and 5lbs as a gift!
I would love to join the Autumn Count Down.
My goals are:
1. log all foods every day (i've been good with breakfast and lunch then don't chart)
2. Increase water consumption
3. Exercise at least 4 times a week
The questions of the day seem like fun!
Oct 2: fav soup...miso but I generally have light veggie canned soup to cut down on the cals and sodium
Oct 3: Tofu...i've tried it but never prepared it myself. I'd like to try to cook it myself so I can control the fat and salt
Oct 4: MORNING person. I fall asleep at 9am :)

QUESTION OF THE DAY: OCT 5
Do you all still want me to keep posting QODs?
MOLLY
There don't seem to be many people answering the QODs these days, so I guess the real question is whether you want to keep posting them. I'll bet it's getting tough to keep coming up with new ones!
well, i kind of like that there is something to stop in her to check and respond to, but i am not sure it is helping motivate me much... but a few clearly have. your fiber question has shifted my eating, and i like the soup question and what haven' you tried question a bunch. so, if those struck me, maybe others like the food color questions have helped others. but i agree with medveditsa, not many people are answering regularly... perhaps if we took turns asking questions, or combined questions with&nbs p;weigh ins... or revisiting our goals... celebrations, hmmmm what else is motivating?
I am going to the County Fair today .... is it theoretically possible to find something reasonably healthy to eat???
thoretically i think... i wonder if you have already gone?
what about chicken breast? i think often there is BBQ chicken, and you could just remove the skin if you want to...
on second thought, eating before and after and bringing healthy snacks( they should let you if you explane it is a health issue... and it is) or just deciding that it is OK to splurge...
Tri Tip on a roll
baked beans
coleslaw
(Not too bad ... at least it wasn't all fried!)
yeah! i knew there were ways to make decent choices even amid a fair of fried foods!
new goal. I want to be in the low 120's by January. i am hoping i can fight again by then, and i would like to be more solid muscle... i know i have flab to trim. i also know these last 15 lbs are likely to be difficult. (they already have been difficult... for the last 3 months i have been holding steady)
to achieve this, i will focus on my water, protien(1/4 of my cals) and fiber intake, and getting at least 400 cals excercize per day. some kind of excercize. hmmmm. maybe average 500 cals excercize daily over a week... which sounds easier to stick to?
Molly, I just went a fair this weekend and they had baked potatoes. I got a little chili, brocolli and no cheese...but I had to have sour cream, just a little. IT was delicious! Of course my hubby and kids had fried oreos, sausage & peppers, ice cream and cotton candy!
Hey.. Im a newbie..
MY GOALS:
To be 110lbs by Jan 1st 2009 (20lbs) .. before anyone bashes me about unhealthy weight goals I am v. short.. lol 5'1
To exercise more...
To eat more fruits and veggies and cut desserts down to once or twice a week.
my answer to the question of the day.. I'd like questions of the days.. one suggestion would be that it'd be interesting if there were some trivia questions on health/fitness/weighloss issues...
one more thing .. if anyone is reading this i would REALLY like a buddy!!

That's pretty impressive for fair food. Good job! (I would have ended up with a big plate of funnel cake and had to go do aerobics for 2 hours.)
I'm here still waiting for my 50 pounds lost milestone. I've been within 3 pounds of it for about a month, but I went on vacation, then it was TTOM, so I haven't really made any progress since then. Hopefully sometime in the next two weeks. Bah.
Ali... i wouldn't mind having a buddy... haven't tried that before so i am not sure how it works. I kind of think of this thread and the folk who visit it as my buddies.
now that they have stopped, i am really missing the QOD. molly, you were really good at coming up with them. was it to tiresome to comeup with something different every day? maybe we could brainstorm a bunch as a group for future use. :)
i weighed in today at 124. don't know where that came from. i have been pretty steady at 130, spiked to 134 and now down to 124? i had to check 3 times to make sure it was really saying that. i still figure it was a fluke. if not, that puts me at 48 lbs lost i think. wow.
I guess my little whine session last night worked, because, as of this morning I HAVE LOST 50 POUNDS! Sorry, I didn't mean to yell in here. I'm just a little excited. I'm excited to have lost that 50, and I'm excited that now I have less than 100 to lose. Yay!
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
