QUESTION OF THE DAY: AUG 25
It's 4 months until Christmas. What's your favorite thing about Christmas? (Or, if you celebrate a different holiday, insert your favorite winter holiday!)
MOLLY
I'm not really a huge fan of the whole Christmas season. Most of my family members don't get along, and I'm the only one who lives on the west coast. I fly out there and spend the two weeks surrounding Christmas flying and driving all over the east coast so I can see everybody without any of them having to see each other. (Including flying from DC to Florida every year on Christmas day so I can have Christmas eve dinner and Christmas brunch with Mom in DC and Christmas dinner with Dad in Florida.) I like seeing my niece, and that's the time I get to see her most, but I think my favorite part is when I get back home and can take a long bath, lay down in my own bed, and remember how lovely it is to live 3000 miles away from those crazy people I call my family.

MOLLY
My favorite thing about Christmas really is finding and/or making gifts for everyone. I've already started working on some things and love to present a really beautiful gift that shows that thought went into every aspect, from the color of the bow, the type of wrapping, the shape of the box, to whatever is inside. I don't always achieve what I aim for, but I try!
And then, of course, there's all the yummy food! This will be my first holiday season after having lost 35 or so pounds, so it will be a challenge to indulge without undoing all my hard work!
I love making christmas candies with my family... luckily we usually give most of them away with christmas gifts. I can't imagine not making them though...
YYYIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEE!
I just hit my September 1 goal a week early! I now officially weigh 229.8 pounds, .2 pounds less than the weight on my driver's license. Yay!
GOOD JOB!!!!

I love to give. I think sometimes that I would rather just give people gifts more than I like to recive them.
Hello All! I saw this group and thought it looked like fun. I am currently in a challenge group which finishes on Labor Day. I have discovered that I am more motivated to lose weight when I report my weekly weigh in to people I really don't know. I guess I don't want to look like the one who isn't trying. Anyway, I haven't read the entire thread yet, but I am interested in doing so in order to get know everyone.
My Goals:
1. Lose at least one pound per week.
2. Do an out of the ordinary exercise activity once every three weeks. (Urban hike, biking at the county park, canoe trip, etc.)
3. Start incorporating strengthening exercises into my week.
4. Take time to log my calories again. (I kind of fell off of the wagon when I got busy at work.)
5. Find time to relax and renew my body and mind. (I should add that to my calendar.)
My favorite thing about Christmas is the food. I love baking all the different kinds of cookies and cakes. I give them away in cute containers so I don't end up eating to much.
On another note my scale said I gained 2lbs over night. That has to be water weight, right? I ate the same amount but yesterday was the first time I didn't do any type of exercise in a couple of weeks. I guess I'll just have to wait till tomorrow and check again:(

MOLLY'S UNIVERSAL DIETING RULE #18
If you gain, it's WATER. If you lose, it's WEIGHT. (Don't worry, it will pass!)

I love all the preparations. I can't pick just one. Finding the perfect gift, the perfect wrapping paper, ribbon that matches perfectly. Baking hundreds of cookies, then getting everyone else to eat them. Decorating every inch of the house, inside and out.

What's one bit of EXTRA exercise you did (will do) today?

QUESTION OF THE DAY: AUG 26
What's one bit of EXTRA exercise you did (will do) today? I will do some wall push ups. I can't do the regular ones, but I can do them against the wall! They still work.

I like the music and decorating my house....all over! :)
My extra bit of exercise will be the video I have from the Biggest loser its been awhile. And does taking my son to the farm to pick peaches count I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of lifting. We are having such a fall day in New England today. I love it!!!
my exercise today is the kids class at judo. i can stay about 1 hour cause the munchkin has to get to bed ( who schedules kids classes from 7-9pm????!!) something extra? i will go on mid morning walk for sure, and try for a longer lunch time walk too... don't think i have time for anything else... maybe i will try to jog tomorow morning.
are we going to keep each other updated regularly regarding our progress on the goals we set at the begining? the group started on a wednesday... that might be a good day to do a goal update... gives you the rest of the week to work on...just an idea :)

MOLLY
Today's a work day, and I usually get about 5 miles of walking in between my commute and walking around at work. I might try to go to the grocery store after work, which is about 2 miles there and back, so that would be extra exercise. Either way, Monday is a strength training day, so I'll get that in tonight.
