Sun123, can you please make my scale behave????

There is nothing more distressing than stepping on a scale Monday morning, and having it show 4 pounds more than the last time! EEEEK. I am hoping it's just water, but I do think I've hit a hard plateau with too great a calorie deficit, so I've (1) increased my calories by 400; (2) decreased my carb percentage; and (3) increased my healthy fats.

* fondly remembers when weight loss (at the beginning) was so much simpler *

MOLLY

Hang in there Molly! It will start going down for you.

I am happy to report that I had a 5 pound weight loss last week. Only 30 more to go to get to 300. YAY!
What is it with rebelious scales?  Grrrrr....

Pam that is SO wonderful - what a great first week
::tries not to be envious::
Kidding, really happy things have turned around and you are on route to the 200s!!
I am looking forward to that! Maybe I will be able to actually sit in a theater seat and not take the seat up with me when i stand up. And then maybe I can breathe better and my heart won't have to work so hard. I have hope. Thanks for your encouragement!
Well, I'm not down to 250 yet, but I went clothes shopping over the weekend. I bought a pair of 22 slacks to be my reward slacks (that I try on every so often and make progress toward) as well as a couple pair of 2x shorts (men's) and an XL sweat shirt (men's).

Imagine my surprise when I discovered the 22 pants already fit!! The shorts & sweatshirt fit as well. I'm guessing those 22 slacks are simply forgiving. I figure I'll wait another 20 lb before trying the acid test (Lee Rider jeans in size 22).
What a great surprise aovermy and while that 250 hasnt popped up yet, you have evidence with the pants of your efforts!  What a great feeling to fit into clothing your striving for !!

I weighed in at 390.1 which was a .8 gain and I admittedly have been undereating - a bad habit that pops up every once in a while.  When I see those threads questioning how can you not lose or even gain undereating, I just want to show them proof but I slip into it occasionally.  Had a mushroom omelet and an apple and going to work on eating on schedule with this morning's weigh in reminder fresh.

Thinking about heading into the clinic Mon or Tuesday for a reweigh - funny focusing on eating more for a weigh in but may do it.

MARCH IS CLOSING DOWN - LETS DO OUR BEST !!

To aovermy - that had to be a terrific feeling! Congrats!

To hunorpam - I understand about the theater seats. I don't even bother to go anymore. It's too uncomfortable. Congrats on your 5 lb loss.

This seems to have been a hard month for me. I know I've lost some, but not like I had planned on. Here's to hoping April will be a better month.

I get to go to the GYN in the morning for my breast exam and then I get to do the fun part - the dreaded mammogram. I found a hard stationary lump in my armpit, so this is more than just an annual check. I hope it's nothing. I found out 2 months ago that I have congestive heart failure, and am trying to get all the tests done to find out how bad and why. I don't need any more stress in my life.

Ezra, youve got some great progress already and sorry to hear about your heart - weight is usually considered a contributing factor so what a health benefit as you continue!  Ive been postponing my mammogram so appreciate the reminder.
ezrasmao,

Sorry about the lump, good luck on the mammogram. My mother had ovarian cancer and my sister has had breast cancer (at 35 yet!) and I religiously do my self checks as a result. I'm hoping that losing weight will at least slow down what I've often thought of as my inevitable slide toward cancer.

hi everyone,

i wanted to join this forum.  i think that starting off at 300+ makes this journey seem much more overwhelming than it may otherwise be for people who started off at lower weights.  here's my info:

What's your start weight?  328
Whats your current weight?  266
Whats your goal weight? long-term:  135; year-end = whatever a size 14 i

Welcome watchme - Ive got you in the OP and dropped you a PM.  You really have made some progress - congratulations!  True the longer journey means more endurance and longer commitment but as the months pass, we'll have more progress to show as the losses accumulate.

I will be sending out emails to all group members about April 1st weighin - FYI
I weigh in on Saturdays, so this is my final for March:

251 (well, my scale says 250.5, but I always round up). So I didn't make it to 250, but I should next month!

So that's:

starting weight: 406 (Feb, 2007)
starting weight for March, 2008: 262
ending weight for March, 2008: 251

for a loss of 11 lb for March. I'll take it and may April be as kind!

SW: 317
Mar 1: 306
Mar 29: 307 (1 lb gain)  Cry
TL: 10 lbs

That's all. I'm not going to say anything else.

April weigh in

SW: 340

March 1st: 218

April 1st (March 29): 210

March Loss: 8 lbs

TOTAL LOSS: 130 lbs

My appointment with GYN was good. He is not concerned about lump in armpit. He said it is a swollem lymph node. My mammogram is scheduled for Wed. I have a checkup with family Dr on Tues. His office called to tell me that the lab work I had done showed my kidneys to be in good shape, but my cholesterol is way too high. They want to put me on medication to get it down. (My son tried to comfort me by saying that years of bad stuff cannot be undone in just a few months.)

Glad to hear it's just a lymph node, though those puppies hurt when they get swollen! Good news on the kidneys too. High cholesterol is a bad thing though, so the meds may be necessary for at least a while.  Your son is right, a lifetime of bad eating isn't going to be made up by a few months of eating right, though by taking that first step, you're doing something good for yourself. Plus, cholesterol levels aren't all about the food you eat, but also how much you exercise, and what your genetics are. Exercise is a good thing to engage in, it's supposed to raise HDL cholesterol levels (the good kind). I'm doing a blood test thingy in April to see what my HDL, LDL, triglycerides etc. are. It's not through my doc, just gross curiosity on my part. After I lost the first 100 lb and my health checked out perfectly, the doc pretty much lost interest in my weight management program.

update!
