I am short.. started out at a size 32 and am now a 28. In some brands I am a 26, but I have some old size 28 jeans that are still too tight. So losing 68 lbs was only 3 sizes, I guess an average of 23lbs per size, but maybe more weight to drop the first size and less for the last.

Waist has gone from 52 to 47
Hips from 67 to 59.5

I think that inches/clothes sizes need more weight loss to go down at first and then you need to lose fewer pounds to lose inches/sizes when you are smaller... because the circumference (hip/waist size) is linear and size (volume) is cubic. At least that's my theory.

Thanks for the advice Molly :) about getting blood drawn B4 the appt.... And also- I weighed in this morning but I'm up two pounds! But I believe it is water weight since I'm supposed to be starting period tomorrow....

I seem to regularly gain/retain 2-5 pounds of water starting about 5 days before my TOM ... and continuing until it ends. I've seen this happen in September, October and November ... a definite pattern.

An annoying pattern. Grrrrrr.  (But it does drop off again, I promise!)

Hello all. I am a regressor, When i found this site originally I was like 355 went down to 330 now I am back up at 365 or so My scale stops at 350 but this is the biggest I have ever been and I hate it, Found out last week I have gull stones and have to get my gull bladder out.  And also that I have a fatty liver, Man do I feel like a piece of ****.  I am starting to watch my food intake all together I am eating alot of food but I am trying to make it good for you food like for lunch 2 cans of tuna 1 Tbsp of reduced fat mayo, some romaine lettuce on whole wheat roll ups, I will start excercising again soon, I look forward to reponding with some good news soon,  Anybody know anything about the lap band surgery?

At 340 I was wearing 26/28 in pants- 22/24 in tops.

At 240 I'm wearing 20/22 in pants- 16/18 in tops.

It took FOREVER before I dropped a size!

The first size down required a loss of like 50 pounds Surprised From there it's been more like 15-20. It seems like the smaller the clothes- the less weight between the sizes (if that makes any sense)

I wear bigger sizes than some people I've seen of my height and weight (especially in pants). That's b/c I'm pear shaped (Big time) I have gigantic hips! Plus, I've got a very large frame. I'm just a BIG girl. Smile

Btw, I'm 5'9.5

I'm just starting here, i'm at 338.  I would like to get below 300 by spring.
danielle_20077 I'm the exact same way! I'm still wearing my clothes from 60lbs ago. They are finally starting to get really loose though. At 319lbs I was a size 26; I'm still wearing 26 pants and could probbaly go down to a 24 but what the heck, ya know? LOL

Hello,

I recently started dieting, I weighed 314 pounds.  Currently I weigh 304.  I do water aerobics 3 times a week.

Hello johnlynch47!

Hello ez-wider!

Hello mzcas!

Welcome to our cheery little group of weight loss buddies! This is a great place to ask questions, get advice, and run things by other larger dieters to help figure out what works best for each of us! (Plus we also support and encourage one another!)

John ... you might contact Dr. Marc marc42956 ... he's a pediatrician who had the lap-band surgery done this summer.

I'm 5'6" and wear size 3x in scrubs which is what I have to wear at work.... I have some brand new 2x which I'm waiting to wear. I could fit into a 2x top but it would keep riding up on me.  But I've noticed after just 13 pounds of weight loss that they do feel looser around the legs. They are elastic waist.  I do have a pair of jeans that I wear on the weekends that I believe are a size 24 but they are the stretchy kind I think made by Just My Size. Very comfortable but they get loose as the day goes on and I have to pull them up a lot. My problem mostly are my thighs and butt- which is where I carry most of my weight.  In the summer I was shopping in Lane Bryant for a new pair of shorts- bermudas- jeans- and I think I ended up buying a size 26. That was my first pair of 26's- Usually I was in 24's.... I have a lot of size 20's in my closet from previously when I lost weight. If I remember right- when I was 200 pounds I was wearing a size 18 or 16.... Which is what I'm shooting for again- although a size 14 would probably be better.  And last time looking in my journals keeping track of sizes- it seemed that after every 15 or 20 pound loss is when I would go down a size... (If only I had had the mentality in 2000 to try to maintain then I wouldn't be where I am now... but oh well- at least I'm finally doing something now and this time permanently!!!

I had my gallbladder out in Feb. I would highly recommend, if you are having gall bladder trouble and it's bothering you as much as it did me (vomitting after meals, lying in bed thinking I was going to die), I definitely suggest getting it removed. Especially if it can be done via laparoscopy. I was up and about in a week!
Yay... I wasn't going to weigh myself today because it's the first day of TOM but I was pleasantly surprised as those pesky 2 pounds that were here yesterday are gone today.... and I even weighed myself at a different time of the day than normal because I came to work later than normal...perhaps tomorrow I will break down into the 200's....

Yay, Jen32966!!!!

Woot! Woot!

I am back with a new log in.  I used to be mzcas.  I weighed yesterday and weighed 307.  Why me?  I've been eating out too much.  I'm paying for it now.
started at 375 even and am 318 now. so 57 pounds. Laughing
What size clothing did you start at (and what's your current size?)

I was wearing 28's in jeans..sorta.  I'd have to shop for days to find a pair of 28's that would actually go on and not cut off circulation, but that's the biggest size the stores carried around here.  I think in the last year or so before I started my weight loss I'd been able to find 2 pair of jeans with stretch in them that actually fit.  I really should have been wearing 30's.

I'm now wearing 16's or 18's.

How many pounds lost = a loss of a clothing size for you?

The first size drop took about 40lbs.  Every size since then has been about 20lbs.

Did your shoe size change?

Yes, it did.  When I started I wore a 10, preferably wide width.  Now I wear 9's.
