Reason: **EDIT: Updated members
I can wear some size 18 pants now and 1X (14-16W) blouses. I am excitedly looking ahead to getting into the 20x numbers (209, 208...) I can't believe how much I am approaching 200! That'll be some day, when I cross that threshold! I don't think I've weighed 200 since 4th grade! Also, when I hit 203, I will be able to say I'm half the person I was, because I started at 406.
What's your start weight? 305
Whats your current weight? 226.5
Whats your final goal weight? 185
My lowest weight was achieved on June 13 - 224.5 - 80.5 lbs. lost. Then I ate to celebrate (hahaha) and for maintenance the rest of the month. I am okay with a net .5 lb. loss for June. I was feeling like I was slowing down so much that it wouldn't have been long before I was going to get discouraged and fall off the wagon and I decided to hang out at +/- 225 for awhile. Plus we made an offer on a house and it was accepted, so I must say I have been distracted with the planning and cleaning and excitement... But, I found my WW packet where I started my journey with a 10-wk program that work paid for - it was September 15th, 2007. So losing around 80 lbs in less than a year is something I am going to be very proud of and I'm not going to sweat the "slowdown" in my progress. I feel very comfortable (as far as being able to get around much more easily, walk faster, hug myself - hehe - and sleep better than I have in a long time) at this size, so I will move back into weight loss mode after awhile - maybe September 15th? We'll see... Great progress for all the CC buddies for continuing on our journies - each of us in our own way and at our own speed. KUDOS TO ALL!!!!!
YAH!! You guys are awesome. It's so encouraging to hear about everyone's success. I have dropped down a bit from my splurge last week, but wanted to give myself one more day to make a final attempt at a weight loss push for my July 1st weigh in. So, to be continued.......

Thats impressive about the biking to work Brett. We're all hating the gas cost now but way to put your money where your mouth is and get your workout. With all your progress, your so close now! And Matt - way to start out strong, thats a serious jump on your journey. Continued success with through August to you!

Checking in. No change; still the same. Kinda bummed about not losing, but okay with not gaining. Hoping July will be better. I'll see what a new doctor has to say at the end of the month (I'm praying that the new doctor will be more helpful than the former).

Yeah I have lost 15lbs! My first month of calorie count has been great. I'm so excited to see the sucess I have (I know the first month weight comes off faster but still it feels good to have a great start!) Its so great to read everyone's sucess and wow there is a lot of it to cheer about!! Good luck to everyone in July and have a great holiday.

sun-thanks for the encouragement, you really are great!
sunny-that is awesome what a great drop! This is the first life changing "program" I have done that actually makes me feel like I am really losing weight, and not just water weight. I can feel the inches coming off. Good luck you are doing great.
Brett-that is awesome, I would love to ride my bike to work every day; the gas alone right now is killing me, and to get some extra cardio in would be great. You've come so far it really amazes me how much you have changed. You look great, but from what I can tell from some of your posts you're changing your lifestyle and that's what this process is all about.
Ok, I am going to try to contain myself. but it is very difficult. I weighed in this morning at...251lbs. :) I could not be happier, I am right on target. I have not been this low, with my weight, in probably 6 years. I feel awesome, and I have to officially wear a belt with every pair of jeans I own. I can't believe I am digging out old clothes because nothing fits anymore, I have actually lost inches. Seriously thinking about going to Goodwill or The Salvation Army to get at least a few things to wear to work (my work clothes are huge). On another happy note. My mom is seeing my success and slowly jumping on the band wagon. She has made a couple comments about feeling like she needs to start her diabetes medicine again, we lost allot of weight together last summer and she has put all the weight back on and some, I am very worried about the thought of her taking her medicine again (some of that stuff had some bad side effects); so hopefully she can start the journey with me again and get healthier. I think it has really helped with me not pushing I kind of flaunt my success, but I don't preach to her about what she could do to help herself. My mom is kind of a see than do kind of a person, so seeing my results has started to give her motivation to do something.

Good job everyone! We are doing it!
Only a few from June weigh in to still update and we might hear from of the May weigh ins. We may be a smaller group but the determination to go the distance is strong.
Making my Weigh In - No change for me, I am hoping July is better. I am late sorry but I had some dental work done and have not been online much. Everyone looks like there doing very well.
Great July to you Velvet - wishing you progress !!
Woohoo! That is great, Sun, now you are WELL under the 300 mark!
sun-thats awesome I'm so happy for you I agree with Denise you are well under 300 now.
Good luck with April everyone.
Someone please help me. Anyone?
Start: 311lbs
Now: 292-294 lbs (staying there for a month and a week now)
What am I doing wrong? I started off great, cycling calories.
Over the span of a month and a week, the numbers won't move down.
I have tried, increasing exercise/decreasing exercise. Upping calories, lowering calories. Increasing water, watching sodium, changing my foods. Taking a day off, not taking a day off.
I'm really getting frustrated.
I'm averaging around 1600- 1900 per day.
My BMR is 2025. If I'm supposed to subtract 500 from that, then my daily intake should be 1525 in order to lose weight, correct?
I really want this. I HAVE to lose this weight. I nearly gave up last night.
I posted on spark people but no one is answering me.
I feel desperate today. I don't know why. Anyone....anything.
Thank you so much in advance.
P.S. I know that I do not have a thyroid problem because my thyroid panel came back normal in May 2008.
y BMR is 2025. If I'm supposed to subtract 500 from that, then my daily intake should be 1525 in order to lose weight, correct?
This is wrong. You BMR has nothing to do with the deficit process, your BMR is the number of calories that you body would burn if you were to lie in bed all day and do nothing.
Here is some info that i posted on another thread about a month ago, hopefully you can get some good info from it.
My Start weight was about 329lbs and Im now currently at 299.8lbs Im 5'9 and 28 years old.
My calorie intake is about 1700- 2000 per day ..
Everyone will tell you something diffrent, figure out what works best for you.
You need to fgure out your BMR ( link at the bottom) then determine your activity level. I chose sedentary then i can just input whatever activities i do on to this site. (make sure you put in your activities or your deficit will be too high)
so as an example if you BMR is 2025 and you are sedentary ( meaning you work a desk job and dont exercise on a regular basis) =
2025 x 1.2 = 2430
( this is the number of calories you need to eat everyday inorder to stay at the weight you are right now)
Obviously we dont want to stay at that weight so we need to create a deficit, 1pound loss = 3500 calories, 2lbs loss = 7000cal
So inorder for you to lose 2 lbs per week you need to create a weekly deficit of 7000calories. or a deficit of 1000 calories a day. ( this 1000 calorie deficit includes your exercise as well) Any more than this is considered unhealthy keep in mind tho with an exercise routine and eating right, us bigger girls will probably lose more than this in the first few weeks.
Dont hesitate to buy a food scale, they are a life saver !! so easy to judge way more than an actual portion. 15g of PB doesnt seem like much =( and its alot less once its actually weighed.
I know im not a Pro .. there are ppl on here who have lost lots of weight.. and im only starting, so we have some things in common.
Just take it one day at a time. oh and dont be afraid to have a day where you can have a free day with no counting ( in moderation ofcourse). It helps alot .. and on my last free day .. i think i was only about 300 cal over what i usually eat, I didnt want half as much junk that i used to eat.
If you want to chat, or mail whatever. add me to friends send me a line. Im on the PC alot !
I hope this helps you.

I was going to ask, have you taken your measurements at all? A lot of time the weight seems to plateau a bit but you still are losing inches from your body.
Thank you Korali!
Either I'm really stupid and /or tired, but I cannot understand how many calories I should be taking in. I've been using the harris benedict formula.
I walk about a mile and burn 180 calories 3 times per week.
Other than this I'm sedentary /computer work.
Liza, thank you for your input too. I have been tracking my measurements and beginning of May my hips were 59 1/2 inches. They are 55 inches today. And have been at 55 inches since the first week of June.
Hey
Missfairfax- I know your frustration, I plateaued for over 2 months! I tried allsorts. In the end I upped my calories for a few weeks (and allowed myself to put on a few pounds) and then started again. It seemed to boost my metabolism again.
Renaer- well done! I weighed in at 251 yesterday aswell. Since us Brits count in stones and pounds, it crosses a threshold. Now officially 17 stone something and not 18+.
Good luck to all! x
missfairfax -- I lost nothing for several months. I started out strong last year and lost about 70 lbs. I even made it through the holidays okay. After that the loss just stopped. I think it was a combination of slacking off on my program (not all that much, I didn't think) and of my body needing fewer calories because of the weight loss. I tried shaking things up too. Interestingly, even though I was maintaining good deficits most days, when I was really honest about my intake and expenditure I realized that when I averaged the numbers over weeks that I was not really getting much of a deficit after all. Most days I was, but some days I wasn't, and over time it was almost a wash even though I felt like I was still on program.
Then I sort of gave up for a while and gained several pounds back. I was in denial about that also and was convinced it was water. It wasn't!
So then I knew I had to get back on track to not lose what I had worked so hard for over the past year. I got a trainer and a bodybugg. The bodybug is this little device that tracks your activity level through the day so that it gives you a really good estimate of your daily burn. For me, this helped because I was not able to convince myself that I had been more active or burned more calories than I actually had, and it made me get off my butt more. I found that my actual daily burn without exercise was a few hundred calories LOWER than what CC gave me for sedentary, so that was an important find for me. I also started tracking calories more closely, and over the past month I have lost the 2 lbs/week that I set out to lose. The bodybugg is kind of expensive and at first I thought it was a ripoff because you can estimate your burn using calculators here also, and a heart rate monitor, but for me it really helps because it is easy and puts the numbers I need right out in front of me so that I can't argue with them! I don't like to push expensive gadgets, but on the other hand it really helped me and it is something to think about if it interests you...
Otherwise I would suggest that you do what you have been doing calorie-wise (those numbers sound good), but try to walk EVERY day if you can. One thing I have learned from using the bodybugg is that it makes a huge difference if you do something on a daily basis. You might also stop changing things up for now and stick with this routine for at least 2 weeks and give it time to work for you. It really will work, just keep it up!
missfairfax-what are your workouts like? If you're doing allot of weight training more than likely your stall is you putting on muscle, it ways more than fat. Are you including plenty of cardio, also? Trust me, you don't want to give up. I know I started at 315 and am now 251 and am feeling so much better about myself. Stick with it, it will be worth it. Good luck.
Korali-thanks for the analogy. Have to say I don't understand it, but will have to study it a bit.
laurabow-Yah! That's awesome, it's so cool we're the same weight. Never heard of the stone thing, that's different. You're doing so great! Good luck.
denise-great motivational advice. I want to get one of those bodybugg things it sounds interesting.
