woohooooo 1st 10lbs lost!!! yayayay
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Unfortunately I cannot afford a bodybugg at this time. I still have no idea what caloric intake i need to lose weight and that is frustrating.
I have went here http://www.phord.com/cc/ and it's actually telling me to consume under 1500 calories. I don't think I can do that without feeling sick.
The strangest thing though, after having a couple of days where I ate more, I dropped down 2 pounds today.
I don't get it!! Argh.
I knew i was forgetting something!
I tend to walk anywhere from 35 - 60 min 3 - 5 times per week. I usually burn 180 calories if I get a mile in.
I walk slower because I have a heart condition. Doctor will not let me get too strenuous.
I have been doing a little strength training 2 x a week using light weights with my arms.
Ive been floating up about a lb since Thursday. Granted only 2 days since weighin and it was a big loss (4 lbs) so Im not concerned. Along with my lucky early month, my losses still predictably yoyo. In the end, I always end up combining both weeks and dividing by two because its a high, low, high, low pattern with losses.
Kate-YAH! Good for you that is awesome!
missfairfax-sounds like you just reved up your metabalisom. I'd really suggest walking everyday cardio is a big key to weight loss. The mathamatical diagnoses of this whole process can be a little confusing and frustraighting at times, but you really seem to be over thinking it a bit. Allot of people on here start out at 1500 calories just to get started. I've been sticking to that for the last month and a half, with a cheat day once a week. I no it doesn't seem doable right now, but your body will adjust, your stomach will shrink and you may start to find it diffucult to even meet 1500 some days. It's a life changing process. Sometimes it's going to be more difficult than others, but you can do it. Just think of it as a mind game you are going to win.
sun-you are doing so good. Your posts really are encouraging.
Saturday weigh in was 251lbs. I am 3lbs. off, but I can deal with that. I am steadily dropping and made my goal for the first of this month, so very happy. I seem to hit my weigh in goal for Saturdays on Wednesdays I don't quite get that, but as long as is evens out to the same numbers I'm wanting by the end of the month we're all good. I have been falling out of all my clothes. I literally have 2 pairs of pants that won't stay up, and everything else I have to where a belt it's wonderful, but have been dreading spending money on new clothes. So, me and mom went to some thrift stores Saturday; I've been dieing to find a black skirt, something I can wear with anything, throw on when I'm in a rush in the morning, and cooler with it being summer. I was getting a little discouraged I wasn't finding anything I liked or in the right size, till the last store. I found it, the perfect black skirt. It hit right above the knee, hugged my curves just right, and was a SIZE 18, I have not been in a size 18 probably since I was like 13 maybe! I was in shock, the skirt itself is made of some kind of strech material, but the waste band wasn't it had a little hook at the top and a zipper in the back. I had no problems getting either to fasten. What a great experience. This weekend with my jogging, new black skirt and my good weigh in for Saturday has just put me over the moon. Gotta love it when you find something that really works for you, and the support you really need to push forward!

Can you imagine dressing for the winter holidays :D :D :D !! Exciting ~ plus having that confidence boost of the socializing with our new improved bods.
I have never realized this group was here.... I have always felt there weren't very many people starting over 300...
Anyway, I would like to join your group. I see that you post numbers on the first of every month... any other "rules"?
Here are my stats:
- Age - 31
- Height - 5'6"
- SW/HW - 355
- CW - 345

Even if there's a bad month, checking in with a number allows me to track us as a group and we are off to January 2009 with much success already achieved. Some of us will be have met goal, others like myself will be continuing on.
Including those who started in January and those who've joined more recently, those of us who've updated for July 1st have this year lost a combined total of ... 600.8 lbs
Just imagine if we were still carrying around that combined weight but nope -- it is gone buh bye! Really proud of everyone :D
That's so much lost! For some reason, I like to think in size of other people...that means we lost 4 150 pound people! That's so crazy. But everyone's doing a great job.
Liza - that made me laugh this morning 4 whole people lost! That puts it into a very real picture for me. Thanks for a mood lifter!
Four blob people! It is kind of creepy to think there is a little (tiny, actually) portion of a blob person that came off of me!
Hi Everyone...
With work busy season and the holiday...I'm a little late with my weigh-in.
As of July 1st: CW - 283
Thank you...and sorry for the late notice! Great job everyone!!!
Sunnyone, glad to make you laugh. For some reason, when the numbers get like that, I really think in terms of people. I know that I wrote somewhere about losing the same as an averaged sized 5 year old child. Think it just makes me think of how much extra weight I've been carrying around. And in terms of being a good steward of the earth and it's resources, I recognize that I eat so much more than I should which reduces what is left over for everyone else. Yes, I alone do not cause global food problems, but I like to remind myself that I'm part of it.
Hope everyone is doing well with life and that your road to health is going smoothly!
no change for me as of july 1st
Liza - I am the same way I always think of people when I start to think of the weight I have lost and what I still have to lose. It also makes me think of that tv commericial I think it is for Tylenol that says for every 1 lb lost you lose 400 lbs of pressure off your knees or something like that and it always makes me think of what I am putting my body through by carrying so much extra weight around.
Hey, sounds like everyone is doing so good I can't believe we have actually lost a total of 600lbs. that's incredible. What a great motivator. Have you guys thought about a goal for that, like maybe a collective loss of 1000-1200 lbs. by the end of the year? Sun, are you going to continue this blog even after the end of this year? I'm really enjoying this group and would hate to lose all you guys after this year. Especially since I will still need to work off some lbs. into next yr.
I'm doing a little yo-yo routine lately. The other day I actually saw 249 I was so thrilled and than I blew it and had a ton of pizza that night. I counted that as my free day and am hoping by Saturday I can get it all worked off for a good weigh in. I'm steadily sticking to being 3lbs. behind my goal for the week, but that's ok in the end an extra week to get them 3lbs. off is not going to disappoint me to bad:) . I was a little surprised I just noticed as I'm losing weight my burn meter is going down, in the amount of calories I burn in a day. I've heard of that happening, but didn't think I would really see it happen for awhile. Just a little interesting to kind of see your body change without you noticing. Big news, I am so excited I signed a lease for a new apt it's so like New York loft kind of a feeling the building is so cool its brick and on the inside the wood banisters are like historically rest-orated and has dark maroon carpet in the hallway its like out of a movie. I'm on the third floor, I love being up high kind of a safty thing I think, and nice not to have anyone above me. So, I'm going to have to do stairs every day and that will push some extra exercise, and its about a mile away from work so no excuses not to walk so plenty of exercise there and I get to save on gas, that's fabulous.
