Wow- well done to all of you!
Ive got a tricky weekend coming up- staying with friends at the coast. Anyone familiar with English seaside culture will know that it usually involves fish and chips, doughnuts and lots of beer!!
I will try to be good, but will allow some indulgence. I have been to the gym twice this week so far and my body is telling me I'm doing well (It aches like hell!). I'm actually enjoying it, did a mini triathalon yesterday which started with 15 minutes on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the bike and 15 minutes swimming. Phew!
I would love to join your group please. My SW was 305 and as of 8/1/08 it is 297. I look forward to the remaining months of 2008!
hello everyone. it's me, brett, weighing in for august.
SW: 320 lbs.
JULY 1st: 212 lbs.
AUG 1st: 201 lbs.
MONTH LOSS: 11 lbs.
TOTAL LOSS: 119 lbs.
damn. i really wanted to get to 200 for our monthly weigh in, but i fell a pound short. oh well. i'm not that upset since i am doing waaaaay better than i thought i would have at this point. when i started this whole thing, i made a spreadsheet with every week's goal weigh. then, every week when i weighed in, i would write in what my real weight was and how much i had lost to date. on my chart, this upcoming monday i'm supposed to be at 210 for my goal, so i am ahead of schedule still. so that makes me happy. i'm heading on vacation next week, so i hope i can stick to eating right. i would hate to see me get down to 200 and then balloon back up in a week. i feel confident that i can stay relatively on track.
well, i guess that's it from brett-land. it's fantastic to see everyone doing so well. i'm always in shock to look at all the loss totals on our list. we really are amazing and inspiring people. they should be filming us for a documentary or something. i feel like we should be famous. haha. see you all in september!

Total Loss so far 26.5 lbs. Wow its so nice to enter those stats today. I was a little frustrated because it is weigh in day for my biggest loser "Mommie" challenge and I didn't lose any weight this week (although I followed my diet and exercise plan). Seeing these numbers makes me feel better already! I'm doing it! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Keep up the great work!
Aug 1st and already half those with July weights have updated - Yay! The updates have been great and congrats to the thread newbies with their great intial losses.
Especially appreciate all the personal updates - really interesting to hear how the months gone and things pending for everyone.
And Sunny - you really touched on something there. Im on that scale weekly (okay, daily but updating my weight log weekly) so I know really like the idea of realizing what we can do in one month aside from the Yays and Dangs of weekly weighins. Its the big picture and each month presents another opportunity despite what daily or weekly flucuations might hand us.

August 1st weight is 462, still carrying alot of water weight so not as good as I had hoped, so Sept should be way better.
Ok, weighing in today at 322.4! I knew this past month was pretty good, but was not expecting much of a loss this week. So, I was very excited this morning since this week had been bad foods (within cal range though) and some really emotionally difficult things in my personal life. So, I had 2 cheat days since my last Sat weigh in. I agree with everyone here though, when you see the loss over a month's period, it's great! Reminds you that it's not just a pound or two loss, but a whole bunch through the month. And I'm sure it's even more helpful when you wind up gaining on some weeks to see that overall you're still down.
So, I originally set a goal of 299 by Christmas when I see my family. I'm actually ahead of schedule, since I've been averaging a little over 2 lbs a week. And have already thought that I could get there by Thanksgiving. But, I think my parents are planning on coming to visit in end of Oct or early November. I might be able to get there by the time they're in town, but really am not sure - probably a bit of a stretch. I don't know why it's so important to me at this point, but I think I just wanted to surprise them. They don't know that I'm actually losing weight, but I know that they have been really concerned about it. So, we'll see what happens. Although, I was looking, if I keep it at 2 lb/week average, I could actually be in the 280s by the end of the year. Crazy! Not expecting that at all, but even thinking that it's possible is awesome.
Anyway, grats on all that loss everyone! Very cool.

So July wasn't the best month for me, but I walked away with a loss, so I won't complain...too much.
I'm so close to 50 lbs loss that I can taste it! I hope that July was just a crazy plateau month and now I will be able to get back on track.

Does anyone else have someone special in their life that has voiced concern that if you lose weight they are afraid you will leave them? My thought on this is if the person thinks I am only with them because I am overweight, then what are they doing so terrible that they think I won't stick around if I lose it? Seems like along with my changing eating habits, maybe they should change their behaviour as well. Maybe a loved one quietly tries to sabotage your eating, by cooking fattening food or wanting to go out a lot. Anyone have any of these issues?
Im enjoying the after TOM easier weight loss I hit each early month. Got a cortisone shot Wednesday for my last Vegas trip departure Saturday. The first one I had shots but the 2nd didnt and the walking was a beating. Normally the doctor wouldnt allow this new one so close but it being such an exception, finally got him to okay it.
Ive read that if cortisone doesnt stay with you long, it shouldnt be considered a long term treatment which is my scenario (wore off in less than a month) but amazing for occasional times.
Sun123 - I have heard that about the Cortisone shots that they are not long term and that they do not last long, but at least you know if your going to a special event or trip you can get them and not have to deal with the pain. I hope you have a great time in Vegas!
Colurful - It is not uncommon for people around you to start to feel alittle threatened by weight loss, it doesnt happen to everyone, but some do experience it and yes they can try to sabatoge your weight loss but you need to be strong and stay your course if that is what you wish.

my 8/1/8 weight is 255.

- 19 of the 55 started from the beginning.
- 8 of the 19 are still here,weighing in Aug 1st.
- Those 8 have been joined by newer members and our current group is at 19 members weighing in August 1st.
- The current 19 started at different times this year, some recently, and we have had great success:
- For July 2008 combined loss is 130.8 lbs !!
- For year 2008 combined loss is 702.2 lbs !!
For those of us still here, we rock! Four months left until Jan 2009 and excited about the continued progress we'll make.
Those numbers are so encouraging! I am afraid I can't stop eating this week! I will read the posts here for motivation. I will not go back to 305 - I guarantee it! ![]()
