I'm a little late I know, but reporting in.

I'm  holding steady at 221 for the month. Hoping September will be better.

Hey everyone !

Im back from France, we had an amazing time, but i know i have gained weight, even tho we walked for like 4-6 hours almost everyday.

Im not doing an official weigh in untill tomorrow morning, and i will start back up from there, hopefully all will go well and i will show a real loss for October.

I start school again tomorrow too, already have my lunch and stuff packed, and ive loaded my fridge with healthy food and such, Im more determined than ever to lose this weight =)

I will update again tomorrow with my Sept weighin

~K

Welcome home korali!  My best friend/ boss and his partner are off to Paris tomorrow. Good luck this morn and I find recent gains are easiest to drop when I go after them like it sounds you are set up to.  Aovermy - youve had such a strong year and betting Oct 1 is a good weighin for you!

********************************************* ********
CHECK THE OP UPDATES FOR ACCURACY!

I keep our stats on a spread sheet that does the loss math
and double check it from there but if I mistype an amount or put it on the wrong person, double checking doesnt catch that.

PLEASE CHECK IT EACH MONTH AFTER REPORTING WEIGHIN
TO CONFIRM YOU NEW INFORMATION LISTS CORRECTLY

Welcome back to the grind. Remember to start back on the diet NOW, every calorie counts, dont leave it until tomorrow. You will feel very virtuous if you start today.

Glad you had a good time.

Dont I know it too Wobbley.  Im super strict because while most people have a cheat, Ive had a history of a cheat evolving into a binge period.

I also have a calender of weekly estimated weighins to shoot for through 2009.  Were I to have a cheat, so instead of it seeming like Im postponing my losing weight it is a reminder of how far off "schedule" every continued cheating day would be.

I feel if I had less to lose, I might be more flexible anyway but I know the time I have to put in and I dont want to do anything to extend it further.

Hey eveyone.

Sun-how do you  justify going out to eat when you don't have a cheat day. I have no clue how to log things like that and so when I have plans like going out to eat or eating at someone elses house it turns into my free day for the week. I do agree though I have had a really hard time getting back on the wagon after my free days lately. I'm back on top of everything now and staying there whether I like it or not. I have gained some weight(239), but I am still under 240 which I am thrilled about. Let me know your trick on eating out and still keeping track (even at those places that don't offer nutritional facts anywhere).

Hope everyone is doing well. Good job everyone. We can do it:)

My official weigh in isn't until Friday,  but I am pleased by what I saw on the scale this afternoon.  I was getting my swimsuit on for my hydrotherapy,  and I noticed that it went on easier, so I decided to weigh myself, and sure enough, so far this week I am down 3 more pounds,  so I am very pleased.  The weight finally started coming off again when I started hydrotherapy.
humorpam, good news! Congrats!

renaer14, I have a short list of items not likely to be too awful for a diet. They consist of: grilled chicken breast, grilled sirloin, grilled salmon accompanied by baked potato with all fixins on the side or steamed veg if they have it. None of those are going to be dreadful for you. At people's house, it's a different story, there, portion control is a must! Things I avoid like the plague because they are calorie dense are: carb heavy sides like macaroni & cheese <which is also fat-laden, bonus!>, stuffing, rolls, rice dishes... Instead I try to load up on vegetables. Most meat dishes at people's houses won't be that awful calorie-wise, even wursts (which I eat regularly) and meat loaf isn't awful if you only have one serving of it.

Fast food places, ironically, are easy to get the less bad stuff at because they just about all have one or two choices that won't tip you over and they publish their info. So Wendy's has the chili and salads, and McDs has the salads (plus a happy meal is OK too), and Arby's has the salads or the regular roast beef...

I've found Old Country Buffet to be a pretty good choice for me, because they have the meats at the carvers stand, and white fish, and lots of veggies plus salad fixings so I can eat pretty darn well there. And they have no sugar added low fat vanilla yogurt which is a real bonus for me!
Ang,
I strongly recommend the following:
http://www.healthydiningfinder.com/site/
* To be listed, meals have to meet some basic health guidelines (HERE).
* Meal is broken down but more factors than just calories.
* Restaurants are listed by distance from your home.
* Detailed recipes must be provided and the site does the nutriental breakdown.

There's more but this is where I found Chili's Lettuce Chicken Wraps Appetizer were lower cal than items on their Guiltless Grill.  They only include those who've registered with them including many chain restaurants.

Personally I dont eat out much - too much of a tightwad. When possible I choose from a few restaurants where I already know an option and believing the calories often run higher in preparation, usually balance out the rest of my day to accommodate.  When not possible, I order grilled chicken or fish items but request without any sauce that they may put on it.  When thats not an option, I drop down on portion size and drop calories for that day or following day to balance.

Cheat days definitely work though for some folks.  Cool about keeping under 240 and betting you'll be dropping back down again!

Yay Pam!  Your working it!  Good that the scale moved but I always believe clothes dont lie :P.

My fav fast food right to default to McD Chipolte grilled chicken wrap which is not strips but a good size piece of chicken plus not processed like a mcnugget.  Taste great (I dont normally like Spicy) plus I always rip off much of the tortilla although (trying to remember) although regularly it runs 260 cal.

Also McD 130cal yogurt parfait without adding in the granola or 150 vanilla cone taste great for the calories.  More sugar then Im used to but an occasional treat.

I love the 150 cal vanilla cone at McD's except that I think most of the time it is a 225-300 cal cone the way the people make them. Some of those things are huge! Beware the foods without a cup or other constraint on their serving size.

Booo- Ive had a terrible week! Ive had no discipline and totally eaten everything in sight!! Ive put on 5 pounds :(

I'm going to stay with my parents for the weekend which I'm looking forward to-its always good to relax and go shopping with my mum. But the problem is staying away from temptation. They always get loads of tasty treats in! We're also going out to a fab italian restaurant on saturday night.

I'll just try and be as sensible as I can, but still enjoy myself on saturday night.

Me toooo!!! It is my TOM and of course that started just as I left for a camping trip on Sunday.. I have been eating crap since then and just got back last night. I did get some exercise from kayaking and walking, but the weather was cold at the coast and we didn't do as much as planned and ate MORE than planned. I am up 7 lbs from a combo of the bad eating and TOM bloating.

But, I didn't do THAT bad.. my food log & body bugg say the last 5 days should break even and that I should not have a gain, so hopefully this is all water weight and will flush away soon.. along with the pound I should have lost before that. Yours is probably mostly water also.. let's drink lots of water and flush all this bad stuff out!

humorpam-love the swimsuit story. Loose clothes is my biggest motivator. What is hydrotherapy? Congradulations on the 3lbs. already that is awesome!

aovermy-thank you for the advice. My logical mind tells me all this, but for some reason if I can't measure it out or take it out of a pre weighed wrapper with a set amount of calories I feel like I am cheating and end up going way over. I think my mom's house is probably the most difficult. She knows I count calories and try not to use things like salt or butter and she still dumps it all in there. That's a little frustrating.

Sun-thank you for the site what a great idea. Cheat days are a must for me otherwise I will feel to constricted and really go off the deep end. August I'm just kind of like dealing with and now September I'm going to come back with avengence. I love McD's classic grilled sandwich and their side salads. I try to stick to that whenever i'm in a hurry and can't make supper or lunch. I didn't realize the wrap was so low in calories. I want to try that now. That's better than my grilled sandwich. I'm sure the bread is really what makes it outrageous.

denise-I agree with you I don't ever think McD's cones are what the calories are supposed to be. The portion size is way off all the time. I may be a bit anal, but I weigh mine sometimes if I'm craving a cheap icecream and don't want the temptation of a container in my apt.

laurabow-I'm in the same boat. I can't believe how fast 5lbs can jump right back on you. I had a horrible August and am in make up mode at the moment. I'd suggest skipping the treats and making Saturday your cheat day for your Italian dinner, also lots of water. Water keeps me full and seems to help a bit with cravings. Good luck and have fun!

Well I was very good last night walked for the first time in forever, and this morning I was at 236, thank goodness. Not quite sure how i dropped 3lbs. literally over night, but I am very grateful for it. I want the 220's so bad my goal is to hit at least 229 by the end of the month. I was looking at my chart and this Saturday I will be officially 18lbs. behind on my goal. I'm a little disappointed, but I can't complain really. I'm 80lbs down from my highest weight I would say that's a pretty good accomplishment. Anyway, just rambling now.

Good luck everyone!

Ang

september 1st weigh in was 252 lbs.

also, my starting weight was 325 lbs.

Great Watchme! Got you updated too.

Denise, Im suspicious of what food item Im being served versus what was the size when it went to the lab for nutrition breakdown.  When I tear off some of the tortilla wrap, I actually feel like it only brings me closer to whatever they say the calories are.

Perfect example - subway under 300cal subs.

They include wheat bread and 5 veg, each at a serving thats 5 or less calories.  One is olives - less than 5 calories. Serving size + 3 rings!? THREE RINGS on a 6" sub LOL?  Im not knocking Subway and think they offer a nice option for dieters.  I just feel because how broken down their chart is, you can see what other food servers dont reveal calories were determined for their foods.
Ang thats a great goal and thinking you'll make all efforts to hit it.  Hoping the walk went well and your not 'feeling it' today since it was your first walk.  Regarding cheats, I think we are similiar - avoiding what send us off so a cheat can squelch it for you but fuel desire for me.

Denise & Laura, so good to be at early month especially when reactive gains be the easiest to drop because theyre can be salt retention.   I wish my reg body was as easy to drop weight as times Ive had a binge and gained only to drop it.  Sometimes its about not giving it a chance to "take root" :D.

Ok well I weighed in when i got home from Paris .. and I was like 297 !!

But today i was down to 292.7 .. so thats only 1 lb heavier than i was before i left ... so i didnt manage to do too much damage. I think the first weigh in was me being swollen and retaining water like crazy.

Lets hope that the rest of Sept will go well for all of us !

~K

Sliding into the halfway mark and on a firm 265 which means the 200 down, 100 to go.  Halfway thru the month and since I do best early, thinking this might be a slower one but not giving up until Oct 1 rings in.

I gotta say Sun, you are a great motivation!  There are a lot of you on here too that motivate me!  Even though I haven't been doing great since June, it is people like you on this thread that make me not completely fall off the horse.  Thank you...I know you hear it a lot but I truly appreciate your dedication and had to state it.
