Walking at the Y was a great idea,  i agree,  but walking that distance was NOT a great idea! I have paid for it severely since.  I can barely even walk from my bed to the bathroom right now.  My knee is locking up constantly,  and my muscles are screaming at me at the top of their lungs.  I have not been able to go out walking for 2 days now.  It is not that I don't want to,  because i do want to, but I literally can't.  I was asked to work this morning,  and I had said yes,  but now I wish I didn't have to.  I almost called in,  but I didn't. so I will be leaving here in about 5 minutes to go to work.  I'm worried about my knee locking up while I am in the car,  and not being able to get out of the car because of it.

Now for the good news:

I have been following this healthier lifestyle for a week now.  Today is day 8 and I weighed in at 317,  which is a 5 pound loss for the week. YAY!!!!!

YAH PAM!!! Every pain and muscle ache is making it worth it. I've been there the bad knees the back aches and the breathing omg the fact of feeling like you will never breathe right again is not fun AT ALL, but it really is worth it. As the weight goes down things will start to feel better. My back has never felt better. My knees, I won't lie, are having some issues. Is it possible to lose cartilage when you lose weight? Seems a little impossible, but that's what it feels like.

You guys are doing so great! I can so relate to the weird body shape going on with this process. Every time I look in the mirror I'm like where in the world did my butt and boobs go. I'm starting to not have much of a curve to me at all I don't even know what you would call my body type at the moment. I have fallen in love, to a certain point, with under wire bras. I never used to wear them and now I wear them all the time they're the only thing that keep what I do have up and looking "normal."  I do still have a huge issue with my stomach I'm actually noticing it becoming more extra skin than fat in that area. Not sure what to do about that, I do what I can with weights and my core ball, but still allot of skin, surgery may be an option in the future. What I love about CC is that it has taught me how to eat everything I love and still lose weight. I can have ice cream, bread, pasta and even steak and still lose weight. I don't know how you guys go without carbs even for 8 days. Korali, don't feel bad about caving you def went further than I ever could, good luck on the next step.

Life has been insane lately going into finals so crazy busy with school and the next couple months are packed with events work is hosting, so just nuts. I was doing really good, but again got tempted when we had our holiday party for work, even though I was trying to stay busy working the event I still couldn't stay away from all the bad bad food. I just really ate way to much. That was on Thursday, which turned into another 4 day binge I don't know why I keep doing this I binge, get back on track, lose a good amount of weight and than binge again. I've been good this week and if I can stick with past Thursday I may be good for the rest of the week. Thursday may be my downfall for some reason. I hit 227 after this last binge, but this morning I got down to 219. I am really really happy to see the teens again. I'm hoping to stick with this and hit my 214 goal very soon.

Thanks for the great comments guys !

Wow Pam im so impressed and proud of you !!! way to go !!

exam #2 is done ...  2 more to go =) wish me luck !

Korali - Good luck on your next 2 exams!  May God bring back to the forefront of your memory all that is needed to be recalled for your exam! Let us know how they go.

Korali - Good Luck on your exams!

Pam - Your doing a great job and just let your body rest a little, it will get better.

Sun - You would think northern oregon would get cold and they do, but lately here in southern oregon we have had cold and fog and this is not our typical winter weather.

I have been enjoying being done with school for the break.  We are going to get a tree this weekend and decorate our patio.

Five lbs, Pam?! Whoa!! What a rough morning you had with your legs.  Sounds like you are are learning what your current limits are and how far you can push yourself.  A aching lesson too but hoping that eases up for you.

Ang- you perfectly described the power of the underwire for someone like me whose boobs have deflated. Especially the ones with the pre-formed cups when your not happy with the 'form' they have taken on since weight loss.  Have you tried one of the shapers or girdles for your stomach. Theyre not just for holding in your stomach - for me they smooth things out.  I have two - one that Ive kind of outgrown which is genuinely for smoothin only and the other smaller which also holds me in.  The second is for when I really want to look nice and the other more for day to day.  Wishing you a strong 'Thursday' this week :D.

Sparing up some of my luck and sending it your way, Korali!  You wouldnt think southern Oregon would be so temperature different than the north since both are so far North to the lower US.  Finally today, got my elec payoff - freezing house but less than half last years bill.  Got to save where I can to pull off my February trip and had hoped for such a low number but suspected it still be somewhat higher.  Feel better now about booking my hotel room yesterday for the trip.  At least Im using a free flight from prior trip when I let them bump me for a later flight. I will always sit extra hours in the airport if it means another free flight!

That rough morning turned into a rough evening too.  I was going to go to the Y with Glen,  but since I haven't hardly been able to walk even from one room to the next,  I decided not to even try it.  UGH!

Pam - I hope your legs feel better soon, you can always just try walking around your house and counting your steps, but go slow as to not make them hurt worse, but any movement will help.

Mnic, thank you so much for welcoming me into the group. I'd like to report that I managed 20 minutes of exercise this morning. Scale does not show any further weight loss but family and friends say they can see it. The last time I measured myself, which was 2 weeks ago, I was down 27cm from the time I started measuring which was on Oct 31st, 2008.  I just hope it won't be too disappointing for me. What meal plan are you all using? Has anyone tried the DASH diet and had success with it?

I completely agree with Velvet.  My first trip to Vegas with cortisone shots in the knees had me walking like the wind but the first wakeup morning, it was almost impossible to walk from my bed. It took a few getting ready hours but eventually I was back to walking thru the day but this process repeated each morning.  That me though, and with the cortisone but as long as you dont let the muscles go dormant and stay consious, you should be able to work yourself back pam.

tubzuks, Im on SB which is helpful to those like myself who get hunger response following eating carbs.  Hadnt heard of DASH diet before.  Congrats on your progress from Oct!! I can see why folks would see the difference.  Looking forward to having you onboard with our new pending thread for next year.

Thursday weighin 234.4 and 230 for Jan 1 is feeling better. Not getting to comfy as my early month typically is easier than late month loss (TOM, Im sure) but nice to get a jump on it.  I woke sore in the legs - wasnt up for a walk after the mall so went to Walmart for more moderate walking but thinking I'll be fine for tonight.

Tubzuks, what kind of exercise do you do? I got  a Walk and Tone DVD that I try to do at least 5 or more times a week. It's really a good workout. I started a  one mile, and then a 2 mile, and now a 3 mile one that takes 45 minutes to do. If you have cable and get On Demand Freezone you can pull it up and check it out. It's free. Just go to On Demand, click Freezone, click Health & Wellness, click Exercise TV, click Walking, and they have a 1 mile booster to start out with and then a Walk and Tone for a two mile one. It's a real good cardio workout. I love it because no matter what the weather is like I can get my exercising in.   And I've been doing a 1200 to 1300 calorie counting diet. I haven't heard of the dash diet.

Hi all, sorry not been around much, was in Florida visiting my sister so had no spare time.

Welcome to Tubzuks, glad you found the group, we are a friendly bunch and can learn a lot from those who have been so successful.

I am back home now and straight onto the calorie counting again, I did well on the protein only for a week. I visited a weight-loss clinic while in the US and got a full body chock out. They gave me all the details of my weight/fat/water levels plus how many calories my system needs to work. I need between 1150 and 1500 calories of pure protein to allow my body to work properly, and eat less than 1900 a day to lose weight.

They recommend the first week on protein ONLY plus lots of water, this I did but I still counted the calories max 1300per day, but found it hard to eat as much as they wanted me to. The second week you can add back some veggies and fruit and only 25gm of carbs.

I left the US at the end of the first week and lost weight!! I broke the 290 barrier at 289.6 but now I am back in the UK it registers 294 so that was a shock! I am hoping it is fluid and jet-lag and will re-adjust in a few days.

This week I am back on my 'normal' calorie counting until the new year as I love carbs, but will try the protein only for a week then only add in 25g of carbs a day from week 2. The doctor explained that protein builds muscle to burn the fat and I should always eat 1150cal of protein until my weight drops 25lbs then cut the protein down. All my life I have been eating very low amounts of protein so maybe that it where I have been going wrong. She also told me my BP drugs are making it hard to lose weight so need to get it changed asap. It made sense when she explained it, will see how it goes.

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving and SUN your party sounds a real blast!! Love the limo. Laughing

Welcome Tubzuks!

Hello, I was wondering how I could join your group?

I am currently 304 pounds, but don't want to be anymore!! ><

Thanks!

Agent ~Welcome .. Im sun will add you as soon as she is around, you are just in time to join us for 2009 !!

Tubzuks ~Welcome to the group !!

Today I am still discouraged =( I just realized that ive been seeing the 290s ( this morning was at 291.0) since July, this has to change somehow, even tho I have just realized that im only 4lbs away from my - 30% of my weight goal. but at the rate Ive been losing .. it could take forever !!

Hope everyone is having a good week =)

Hi Korali, please dont be down, just think if you had not been "one of us" and trying you could be 390 now, enjoy your 291 and just resolve that 2009 will be our year!!

Also welcome to Agent too, so glad you found us, at 350 start I have found this group to be a God send, if I feel weak or want to give up I just re-read all the posts and get all inspired again.

Hi Agent023,  I'm glad you found this group. Everyone is really nice. I joined a couple of months ago looking for others that are really working to reach their goals. They really motivate me to stay on track.  Always remember your never alone, there is always someone to talk to.

Welcome, agent! Youve excellent timing - in just 3 weeks our new thread starts for Jan 2009-Jan 2010 and would love having you aboard.  I will post the link to it in the first post of this thread but you more than welcome to continue posting here with us until then.  Know that you dont have to be 304. This thread started innocently Dec 2007 discussing what we were doing to lose weight and we decided to convert it to one to lose weight in 2008.  I believe the thing is hanging in there, good and the bad weighins because its the accumulation of losses over time that will bring you your success.  In a few weeks I will post our success for the year and next December would love you to be part of that year progress.

Its 4am, just got back from long night cake decorating and catching up with my friend and diet supporter Alice. The scale has been very exciting recently but staying hush until Thursday - dont want to jinx myself.

Koralli, wish I could push you from that plateau.  Doesnt sound like SB did it but  hoping your still open to trying other things because there is a lower weight ahead of you and this is that frustrating time in between.  Keep working different things - your scale can only hold out so long.

Soo sleepy ...

Welcome Agent, this is a good group and I am glad you found Us!

Thanks Sun and everyone else for being such an encouragement =) It really means alot to me. Ive been totally stressed this week, so it has not been good to the scale hehe, Ive been maintaining of course, but i want to see lower numbers !!

I KNOW that the key to this is exercise for me, I know it, but yet its hard to find the time or the motivation to get my ass moving.  Even on days/ weeks where I eat well and below maintenance, Im not losing weight unless I have been more active .. so I know that is key, and what i will have to work on =)

Only one exam left !! yayay !! after tuesday Ill be done, and on holidays for 2 weeks !! Cant wait !

Hope everyone has had a great weekend =) ~K
