I make red beans quite a bit and I make mine really soupy. CC says that a cup of red kidney beans has 225 cals. My question is that if the actual pieces of beans are only about 1/4 cup with the rest of it being soup (liquid used to cook beans is just seasoned water w/bits of onion, garlic, peppers and celery), wouldn't that just be counted as 1/4 cup serving? Thanks for any info.
You could enter your recipe into the recipe analyzer to find out how many calories are in a portion.
Or, in a pinch, you could put a portion through a sieve and only measure the beans that are left.
