Counting calories is sort of...fun?
hey everyone,
im new here. i first opened an account on CC in the Spring of 07. Back then I was at my lowest weight (but I got there by basically starving myself...i was 17). And I've always found counting calories to be annoying and too much of a hassle, but for some reason this time around (I started logging a couple of days ago), I've noticed that it's actually sort of fun. Maybe its because I've finally started to love the skin I'm in, even though I want to drop some weight, but theres something exciting about seeing the number of calories I've consumed and burned on my home screen. Am I alone in this? Probably not.
Happy weight loss to everyone!
On a side note, I've been looking to join a challenge/game (not too sure on the CC lingo) but I can't seem to find one thatd last from Sept to the end of 09. Anyone looking to join one with me? I'm in college and I think it'd be a good way to pat myself on the back by seeing how much weight I can lose (in a healthy way) during one semester!
soooo much fun!!!!
i love calorie counting.
I am the same! Then again, I am not sure whether it's so much fun as just plain addictive. I love the checking the calories against the activities and giving myself a high-five when I have hit the deficit I was after.
yep, for me the counting is a bit of a game, and i know other people have some similar experience of actually enjoying it. plus i love the graph. as for challenge, not sure, there ius a halloween challenge though
I too am finding myself addicted to counting calories. I get frustrated when I'm out and I eat something and I can't log it right away! However, I do go on my blackberry on this website to get the amount of calories and save it on my phone so when I get home I can log it.
it's actually not fun at all in my opinion
eating an entire chocolate cheesecake however...
the only part I find fun is when I feel 100% full and notice that I came in under my daily calorie allowance by an 100 or so calories. Then I almost feel like I do when I get a really cute article of clothing for so little that I feel like I beat the store. It's very self congratulatory.

I agree, it's depressing, it takes some of the joy out of life.
meryamb, if you start a new thread for Sept to late December I'll join it. I'm going to college to and it'll be interesting to know how much I'll lose in a semester. Hey, maybe even call it the Semester Weight Lose Group.
mhmmm i love it :) i actually look forward logging in the food items at the end of the day lol.
AH! Sounds great. That would get attention from some college students anyway.
Yeah, I know what you mean, BUT I think that if you're honest with ur CC account, it will keep you in check...the last thing i wna do is go online, log my food for the day and atually see how badly ive eaten. I think CC actually helps users see what they put into their bodies.
Yeah, the graph is great. All incentives to kepe eating right.
I made my dieting/exercising a hobby. Thus, I love recording foods I eat, the calories, protein, and iron in my favorite foods, the exercises I do, my weight ( I usually weigh several times a day), my body fat %, etc., etc. But mainly I like recording calories. I like also researching and reading on the Web about dieting and exercising.
exactly. once it becomes a part of your life, it becomes enjoyable as opposed to something you are trying to rush into doing

If you start a college-based group message me.
Oh, and I'm going to add you, maybe we can support eachother.
Good luck you can do it
yup! i just started 2 days ago and i go on here as much as i do facebook
This is one of my favorite websites and I love making my entries. I keep the site open all the time and enter my food after each meal or snack, rather than waiting and doing it all at one time. Throughout the day I check for new forum posts, too. Like a couple of other folks have said, I'm addicted. ![]()

lol, its become like a hobby now. and id rather it be enjoyable than not cause then i find myself more motivated to eat well.

So you can keep track of what you eat - which enables you to analyze your foods and receive the following:
- Health Score of your overall diet
- Warning when you approach your daily calorie limit
- Overview of the good and bad nutrients
