Counting Calories on the South Beach Diet?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm starting the South Beach Diet tomorrow. I have heard that once you stop the SBD, you're likely to gain the weight back. I think this might be because people tend to over eat on the healthy foods allowed on SBD. Has anyone tried combing a low carb diet (Atkins, South Beach) with counting calories? Thats my plan, I was just wondering if anyone else had success with it. Any advice would be great.
Thanks a bunch,

I wouldn't officially say I was on any kind of "diet", but I do watch my carbs. I eat most of them early in the day and then back off for the rest of the day. I count calories daily and have been for over a year. I think it's a great way to keep track of what you're eating and how much.
Good luck. Remember cutting back on carbs and eliminating them are two different things. You need carbs in your diet, so make sure to eat some.
I have been counting calories and following the principles of the South Beach Diet for 1 1/2 years. My doctor recommended the South Beach diet for Diabetes to my husband. I have lost 133 lbs and him 100 lbs. I am now maintaining on South Beach and upped calories to 2200 per day. I have maintained at 118 for two months. I like the combination because if you can't fihure out the calories you will be alright just following the South Beach at restaurants or at someones house.
Thank you for the replies, and a big congrats to both of you for your hard work and weight loss! I've actually decided to just cut back on carbs and try to eat more whole grains. I lasted about 5 hours with no carbs at all and was way too hungry. Lol. But thanks for the answers. :]
