Counting Veggies?

Quote  |  Reply

Should I count veggies I eat or not?

Some people say not, but I'm thinking as Mots of my diet comes from vegies, I should be counting them.

Also, Should I count spices?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

Spices, no. Don't bother. It's so minscule it's silly!

Vegetables, it depends on the kind for me. If it is a starchier vegetable like a potato, corn, or beans, if it's dressed with something, or if I eat a LOT of a sort of vegetable for any given reason or is a key part of a meal (eg, a stew), I count it. If it's a neglible serving, I don't.

i'm like 95% recovered from an eating disorcer, but i still get a little paranoid sometimes, so i count my vegetables. i plan my meals in advance, and today i'm getting 370 calories from vegetables. for me, if i didn't count it, 1) it would add up over time, and 2) i'd feel triggered to binge or restrict.

it's all about personal preference. i've heard of alot of people who don't count vegetables, and they lose/maintain/gain weight just fine. do whatever you're comfortable with.

I always count my veggies, because I love to look at the little CC vitamin analysis window and watch the vitamin A hit the roof!  :-)

i never even consider not counting my veggies, food is food. besides, i eat so many servings of veggies a day i would go way over.

me too hehe! loggin veggies and then checking out your analysis tool and getting an A grade is the best feeling ever! when i started on here i was getting C- grades so iv worked my way up and i feel so much better for it!

I most definitely count my veggies because like OP, I eat a lot of them!  And these days it's less about counting calories for me than it is about counting how much fiber, vitamins, etc I've gotten every day.

yeah, if its starchy i'll count it. some times i will count my veggies but not for their calories but to see if i am getting enough vitamins & fiber for the day. i find it hard enough counting some times.

I count mine because I eat so many, they all add up. For dinner I'm going to be eating massive amounts of vegetables and it'll add up to around 100 calories.

I log them because I can feel good about all those A's, plus they add to my fiber total.

If I log and then eat all of my calories for the day - but then I go back for more veggies, I rarely log those.

I like to look at the analysis window but I've never seen a vitamin analysis, how do you see it?
