Coworker stress
If any of you are wondering why I'm often grumpy on these forums, it's because I'm trying to survive the day in the office. I sit right across from someone who seems to spend most of the day either chewing with her mouth open, slurping soup loudly, clipping her nails over and over again, or coughing up a lung. Her voice sounds like the secretary from Office Space. Our office is silent, so I hear every little noise. I've tried headphones and music, but I'm so close that I can't drown it out.
Does anyone else get stressed out by their coworkers?

Oh, yeah. One of my coworkers is a real arsehole with a "sense of humor" that usually means belittling and annoyingme. He calls me fat, while asking when I'll be at the gym next. He's a piece of work.
Can't let people like this get to you, though. See if maybe you can get a new cubicle, maybe? Have a word with your boss?

Yeah, I try to tell myself to not be bothered, but it's almost constant and so irritating. I talked to my boss...unfortunately, we don't have any open cubis. She's on this level in the first place for reasons including the fact that her noises drove everyone on the main level crazy.
I had a coworker who thought I was her therapist.
She'd come over to my desk and in her 'outside voice' explain to me the downfalls of her sexual experiences while whining about needing to find a husband so she could have babies...
It was slightly embarassing for me to be the sounding board for that walking disaster.
YES!!! My poor co worker has had a really REALLY rough year, and I get to hear her screaming and yelling at people over the phone. My desk is pretty far away from the door, so I can't just leave quietly like I would like to sometimes. We will talk about it sometimes because she needs to vent to someone, and most of the time I will agree with her point. But sometimes I'll disagree with her and then that starts a big silent treatment. It's only happened a couple of times, but it's pretty bad when you are the only two in that portion of the buliding!
I've got one coworker who I detest and refuse to work with and will make sure I'm out of the room before she comes in in the morning if she is scheduled, and told my other coworkers I'm throwing a frickin' ice cream party the day she gets fired or quits.
I think she fails at her job. She does a lot of stuff she knows she isn't supposed to do and if you mess up at this job, you risk messing up a patient pretty damned bad. After all she's done so far I'm convinced the only way she'll be let go is if she kills someone.
I'm just waiting patiently... Not saying anything... Letting her decide her own fate... Even though everyone else knows I'm rooting for her demise.
I work remotely in my own office in my own house. Has its ups and downs.
My last office job was a high school drama crap left and right. I HATED it. One hideous woman was the cause of all the problems and since sadly she was good at her actual job, they would NEVER get rid of her.
She lied, took anything not nailed down, threw all of under the bus to make herself look good and would get too drunk to come into work then call everyone blitzed out of her mind causing more trouble. She is a scary monster.

Mash that up with a bad actor reciting poorly written lines, and you got it.
I had an alcoholic boss at a previous job - actually most of the upper management were pretty much lushes and they all used to go out for very long lunches. Anyway, I always tried to leave work before they all got back, but one day they all came back hammered and next thing I knew there was a huge fracas and one of the VPs was trying to throw the CFO out the sixth floor window. Luckily the CFO was too fat to fit through.
I know, appalling but looking back it's pretty funny. Believe it or not I kinda miss working there, I got some great overseas trips out of that job.

Mostly I'd say to stay out of it and let the other person hang themselves. BUT, if the foulup could harm a patient, then it's your Responsibility to report it. If the boss knows and won't ask, there are anonymous places to 'snitch'.
I'd hate it if someone was injured or died because I kept my mouth shut.
We had a woman who was the source of amny problems. The night crew she worked on only had 5 people in the department. And it was always 'T'and 'X', then next week it was 'T' and 'Y'... and so on. She'd lie, make up stories, leave nasty notes for the boss, and cause any type of fight she could.
Whe worked here around 10 years.
Until she pulled a utility knife on a guy's face!
