A bit of an aqquired taste...I like them though, but I usually use them in trail mix. They are also good on salads.
Maybe find a healthy fruit muffin recipe and use them (like instead of blueberries).
Yep. If you like nuts, mix them with nuts. Dried cranberries can be used in place of raisins in most receipes. I also like them in oatmeal.
make an apple pie/crisp and add some cranberries to it. it's sweet and tart tasing. you could also make home-made cranberry sauce (it's like jam...), especially if you'Re american since your thanksgiving is in a month, so you can make it now and keep it for later in the fridge...
not sure if this like willwork, it's a recipe site where I used fresh cranberry as an ingredient - looks like some good ones!
You can freeze the bag of fresh ones, and then use it to make homemade cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving. You can also make a quickbread with cranberries - just google search cranberry bread and sauce, you'll find a million recipes. But I always buy the fresh ones on sale, freeze 'em and save them for Thanksgiving cooking.
In my opinion they are overrated and don't taste good unless drenched in sugar. I'd rather eat other dark berries.
juice them in a juicer or make them into a yummy, tasty smoothie with an apple or other berries!!
The best cranberry relish ever (made every Thanksgiving and Chiristmas at my house, from my grandmother's recipe) is a bag of fresh cranberries, a whole orange (including rind) and sugar to taste (I think it's like half a cup) though it'll work perfectly well if you use some splenda or other low cal sweetener if you perfer since there's no cooking involved. Chop everything together in a food processor. Delish with turkey, in sandwiches, on almost anything, by itself....
^^^ Ditto on cranberry relish. A staple at my family Thanksgivings. =)
Yeah, fresh cranberries are disappointing in taste. One thing you can do, if you don't feel like eating them, is freeze them until the holidays. You can make some beautiful decor by stringing them together with popcorn. ![]()
I've used them in muffins & quick breads. Go to www.Allrecipes.com and look up under ingredients for cranberries. Lot's of ideas there. Also www.Quakeroats.com has recipes with cranberries. I'm sure there's more out there: Google it.![]()
