I got home from work and was in the mood for some steamed mahi mahi, but i was still hungry so i ate lots of fruits and vegetables, but my body MUST have been wanting carbs and fat...because i busted out the mini quakes, pretzels, nilla wafers and peanut butter. oops...had 2 each of wafers and pretzels and like 2 servings of quakes. why does this happen, i could have used those calories sooo much more wisely!

it could have been worse...you could have eaten a whole package or something...and let's face it...it was yummy, wasn't it?
It happens because you have this stuff available for you to eat, and as a result it enables you to eat it.
Stop buying it, and this won't happen anymore.
dm, its not like i cant have peanut butter in my house! and plus, i dont buy my own food yet. i live at home. the question is how can i be such a health nut all the time and not be full off the huge/healthy dinner i had of veggies and fish. hmm, more water maybe?
I didn't realize you live at home.
I don't really have any advice for you then. I was screwed until I moved out. I would eat everything I could get my hands on when I lived at home.
really not that bad, dont fret...
It's okay. It's just food. Eating empty calories occasionally won't make or break you. It's when you eat them frequently that it is unhealthy.
I get into that situation when I've no food in the house. I live on my own so if the cupboard's bare I'm tempted to just go to the chippy or shop and buy junk. I never have junk in the house as I know I would eat it all at once.
The next time you have this kind of craving, make yourself wait 30 minutes while drinking a glass of water. I think it takes time for the signal that says you're satisfied to reach the brain. This works for me every time.
