Hey guys! Can anyone tell me, in my weight loss efforts why I am craving coffee? I have 2 24 oz cups in front of me right now. Its not just regular coffee, its french vanilla and mocha, the kind you get from a convenience store. Does anyone know how many calories (approximately) is in this stuff?
I'm getting a little nervous! My intake is increasing by the day!
Thanks for your help!

Too many, you should try to go for black and those fat free creamers with flavors... those are much safer, the other is loaded with sugar and high cals!
If it's just coffee, then the calories are the same as regular coffee. but if it's flavored with creamers....then the cals are pretty high. Avoid them and just go with flavored BEAN coffees :)
Thanks so much! I know I have to be careful about those flavored individual liquid creamers! Just one is 30 calories according to Nestle! (I called them yesterday). The half and half is only 15 calories.
I know that when I drink French Vanilla flavored coffee its like giving me suger, I want french vanilla everything the rest of the day. I've used the reduced suger (made with Slenda) creamer but only a little since it seems to trigger the same response.
I'm trying to just stick with plain old coffee or the flavored beans, with maybe one cup a week of the other, if someone in the office goes to Starbucks.
Hang in there.

crevansa, i think there are a lot of drinks like that listed if you search for "dunkin donuts." they might be similar to the one you are looking for. i know there's been a lot of discussion about caffeine and weight loss, and i can't point you to the exact thread, but most people concluded that you have to drink extra water if you are drinking coffee a lot. and you are better off to cut down on it. i think cece is right, that it's probably the sugar you are craving, not the caffeine. cutting that back could help a little. worth trying, anyway!
If I were you, actually I do this so I just want to let you in on my secret. I use this sweetener called Stevia to sweeten all my coffee/tea drinks, when it needs a little sweetness! I have this liquid extract stevia that works miricals! To find it: type stevia into a search engine and you will most definately find it! Oh and be aware of the ingredients, sometimes there are added ones: do not get anything with maltodextrin in it!
mm. coffee, i loveeee lattes, with vanilla. yum.
Hello friends, I am Ullax and I love gourmet coffee.
Being a lover of Starbucks I sympathize - I always try to remember that there's very little difference between drinking a Starbucks Venti Moca and drinking a milk shake! It's kind of a substitute for a candy bar or any other sweet that you've been denying yourself as you work on your weight loss program. For me (at Starbucks) you can get around this (somewhat) by going down the twenty-coffee-adjective rout: Tall non-fat cappuccino with two pumps sugar-free vanilla (or caramel or whatever other sugar-free flavor) syrup. In case you cant do that at your favorite coffee spot, I'd recommend flavored bean coffees, non-fat creamer, and splenda!

1. Maybe it's habit. Do you drink coffees at the same time of day? Try replacing one of those with another drink. I used to have watered down cranberry or orange juice for the afternoon fix, then I eventually just went to straight water.
2. Maybe it's anxiety. Do you have anything to be nervous about at the time you are craving it? Are you feeling insecure about something and need a distraction?
3. Maybe it's a reward. Give yourself something else as a treat for doing well. Maybe a coffee-flavored fat free yogurt or spoonful of lite coffee gelato?
4. Maybe it's circumstances. Do you walk by a coffee shop to get somewhere else? Does the office coffee pot get a new brew at a certain time of day? Try a different route once and a while.
If you really can't shake it, go non-fat whenever possible. If you make your own coffee, add a little cinnamon to the grounds for flavor and then use Simply Smart or other nonfat half-n-half. The cinnamon will also help you reduce sugar because it will add the illusion of sweetening. Try it!

You might want to go back over your diet a bit and see if your having enough calories in a day or if you've accidentally cut too much of certain foods out of your diet. My worst cravings happened when I cut certain foods out of my diet and I was not eating enough per day. I didn't even realize this was the case until I started paying attention to exactly what and how much I was (or in this case wasn't) eating.
when I cut too much sugar or milk out of my diet, I tend to get cravings for odd things that I used to not crave. Like cappuccinos for example.

I drink a lot of coffee. I estimate I'm saving about 500 calories a week by using ONLY Splenda. I used to use flavored creamer and sugar. If you don't like that idea, maybe you could experiment with different hot teas.
Hi, My friend has told me one onteresting news that, gourmet coffee is very good for the people, who are worrying about the calories.

I have started using the new Folgers Gourmet Selections bean coffees. My favorite is French Vanilla Biscotti. I put a little Splenda in it, and it's so creamy that I don't even need any creamer or milk. Give it a try.........

You're craving coffee because it gives you a buzz (so does the ton of sugar in those convienence store varieties), and when you come down off the buzz you feel like crap. So you drink more.
Steer clear of those pre-made drinks. Make your own. Caffine is okay, but it does cause a crash in energy, which leaves you reaching for more caffine or worse, foods that will give you instant energy (like sugary treats or chips, neither of which have much to offer nutritionally.
I like teas. I go to Big Lots (don't know where you are or if you have them there) and get variety packs of "Mount of Olvies Treasures Tea" -- it has black, green, white, and herbal teas, and it's only $3. I took a mug to work and use it quite frequently to make tea for super cheap.
Warm liquids always make me feel good. There's just something about them...

I love coffee. It's great with heavy cream and splenda.
Your craving coffee because you love how it tastes. Thats just the way cravings work.

Are you "craving" coffee ... or sweets? If you're getting those convenience store coffees with lots of sugar and milk - could be that you're looking for a "treat". As the others have said, make your own coffee (use a flavored bean - not the flavored creamers) and add your own milk and sugar. I have a dunkin donuts medium french vanilla coffee black every morning... but when I'm in the mood for a treat - it's coffee with vanilla soy milk or 1/2 chocolate soy milk and half coffee... homemade lattes without the fat.
And if it's sweets that are "missing" from your diet... make sure you have some fruit in the morning with that coffee

I am usually just a reader of these posts, but when I read saw this, I had to respond: At the beginning of 2005, I started eating more wisely and in moderation and I lost over sixty pounds by August of that year. Since that time, I have daily battled to maintain and I find that I really enjoy what has become my eating "routine." What has amazed me about this whole journey, however, is how greatly my tastes changed very early on in the weight loss process! I now like many foods that I wouldn't have touched prior to 2005 (spinach, greens, carrots, tomatoes, etc.). But more amazingly, I went from literally hating coffee to craving it every day! What intrigues me even more is that two other of my friends lost weight around the same time and they say the same thing. They crave coffee all of the time! In fact, we talk "coffee" all the time. It really makes me wonder if there is a biological cause...
My advice is to choose the best coffee in the world (as for me I think it's Javaberry because it has the fairy aroma and taste) and to give it to you only as a present. Coffee must not be a sort of commonness.
Has anyone tried the arizona diet green tea?It says 0 calories but it has sodium in it so how much is too much cause I like it
