I have some serious cravings - nothing crazy - but really hard to ignore. Maybe now that I'm preggers I'm just giving myself an excuse to eat what I want.
The other day I was craving a gyro and french fries and didn't give in until last night. It was so good. I also crave pad thai (haven't had that one yet, the only good thai food in town is also expensive so we're waiting that one out) and mexican food in general. Mostly I want fried foods that are bad for me, but I'm being pretty good. Yesterday even McDonald's sounded good and I haven't had fast food in probably five years or more.
Anyone else? And any tips on how to ignore the cravings?

I love pad thai in general but I have been eating more of it since i've been prego.
The weirdest thing that I've been wanting are chicago style beef hot dogs!
Luckily the place in town that has the best is a good 30 minute drive from my house so i've only given in to that craving once so far.
But really I haven't been craving much of anything other than that.
It's weirder to me what I'm NOT craving. As in I have absolutely no desire to eat chocolate or sweets of any kind really. It is so weird because normally a piece of candy is within a 50 foot radius of me and I'm all over it!
I don't ignore my cravings, I am not able to... they're STRONG.
Lately it's rootbeer and raw veggies. No more diet sodas for me (aspartame!) so it's 1 can of Barq's a day and that's it. The raw veggies craving I'm proud of, haha.
I still have way more food aversions, I'm sad to say mushrooms recently joined the list.
Edited to add: Rootbeer makes the baby kick!
I think the way your doing it is pretty good. Just have one serving of your craving. If you get a full order or Pad Thai, then split it in half. That way you'll have some for the next day, and you won't gorge! A burrito or taco isn't going to throw everything outta whack, but 4 or 5 will!
I craved PB&J waffle sandwiches like MAD!! I'd toast up some Eggo waffles and make a PB&J sandwich with em. SOO TASTY
I'm not craving anything weird. But when I want something, I want it now and I usually give in. I'm at that point right now where I can't eat too much of anything because there's just no room in there so a little bit goes a long way! I am walking a lot more and doing more Yoga so you give a little, you take a little.
Hi i am not a thia food lover so i was wondering what Pad Thai is?? My cravings have been chocolate and cooked brocolli. i am up 13.2lbs so far but i am still able to exercise an hour a day in the morning. i am only 21 weeks though and 13 lbs...yikes![]()
Pad Thai is a noodle dish from Thailand that is really good! You should try it some time. I think it's the national dish of Thailand or something like that. It comes with tofu, chicken or shrimp usually. It's hard to describe, but really good.
I'm only 10 weeks but already up ten pounds. I think that's crazy because I don't think I've been eating all that much. But the scale doesn't lie so I'm going to be good for a while.
I really want mac and cheese with tomatoes in it! lol I always crave something and then when I go to the store and get it...and get home...yuck--I don't want it anymore. Although...I have been having a sweet tooth. I wonder if it is because all this candy is around...hummm? lol
Something really strange happened last Friday...we went to TGIF's and I ordered the salmon. I hate salmon! It looked so good and I wanted it so bad. Well I got it and EWWWW...yep I still hate samon! haha Oh my what pregnancy does to you! lol
So far I am pretty proud of myself....I am 32 weeks along and have gained 20.5 pounds...so I guess the cravings aren't too bad. :) Now if I can keep it at a pound a week until I deliver I will be a happy camper! :)
Today it's lasagna. Mmmm... cheesy, meaty, noodly....
Oooooooooooooo - I'm 8 weeks so I'm not sure if these are cravings or not (first pregnancy) but I LOVE chocolate PB ripple ice cream, KFC tater wedges (yes, I said tater), bananas, homemade turkey burgers on wheat bun, HEC sammys (ham, egg, cheese).
I know you didn't ask but I can't stand these guys anymore: cereal, salads (TG for V8), anything with garlic.
I am recovering from an ED, so I've always been weird about my food. Can you let me know if it's normal to have food cravings/aversions this early?
I'm lovin it though ;)
hope everyone is well!
I'm 5 weeks pregnant and I'm having less cravings and more food aversions :( 1 day I'm dying for a falafel and the next day I cant stand the sight of it. I"m mostly end up eating whole wheat toast and fruit, all carbs.
What I'm worried about is that I dont like the sight of veggies/salads anymore- I was a real veggie-holic pre-pregnancy plus I'm vegetarian so it limits my options. Hopefully it'll all go away soon and I can start having a more balanced diet.
I am the same way! I was craving a tuna melt so bad one day I made my boyfriend go out and get all the ingredients for it. Now, I can't imagine eating one. I also had a serious falafel craving ONCE and now I don't ever want it again. Some food aversions, but luckily not to veggies. I think it usually goes away by week 12 or so.

I experienced/am experiencing the same thing. Before becoming pregnant I ate more than 7 servings of veggies a day but now I find it hard to squeeze 3 in. Fruit and I still get along just fine but veggies that I used to love like spinach and broccoli just cause a nearly immediate gag in me!
I'm 19 weeks and it has gotten slightly better compared to the first trimester but i still have to force feed myself greens sometimes.

aeetheri - thats exactly whats happening with me. i could happily chomp on plates of raw broccoli and carrots and now i'm running miles away form them :( i'm thinking of baking carrot/zucchini breads so I atleast eat some veggies. Jeez..I feel like a 2 yr old..trying to sneak in veggies in my food!
congratulations on your pregnancy- is this your first? it's my first and I absoutely don't know what to expect. .
