I am having killer cravings right now for chicken wings. There's a place around the corner that has an all-you-can-eat wing bar, and I want to punish it. How do you fight cravings?
I start with drinking a bottle of water and if the craving is still there then just a short walk or a phone call to someone. Anything to distract me, I find munchies are the worst for me when i am bored or watching TV...commercials are bad. :)
Good Luck!!!
Eat a whole bunch of salad too. But then again, I just bombed big time at Wendy's so I'm of no help today!
I ate a huge salad, and some carrots and a 1/2 a cucumber. I'm past the craving, but they come and go.
I just refuse to give in, or I try to re-focus the craving on something I CAN eat, trying to crave what I'm planning on eating instead of something unhealthy. If that doesn't work, I promise myself the food I want for later in the week. So if I crave pizza now, maybe I can have it on Sunday if I have been within my calorie limit all week and have lost enough weight that week to risk gaining some back.
I miss chicken wings as well. When I was first starting, I remarked to my wife that I was going to feel that the most. I treat my calorie goal like a budget, and there's just no realistic way to fit in 900 calories for only 5 wings (hooters).
I've just accepted it as something I can't afford right now, and I moved on. Coincidently to this posting, though, I came across buffalo chicken jerky the other day and bought a bad.
It's chicken jerky with a coating of buffalo sauce flavor from Jack Link's. It's 80 calories an ounce (about 4 big pieces or so). Next time I get that craving, I'll be sure to get a tsp of ranch to dip it in and it will work just fine.
Make your own chicken wings.
The wonderful boneless chicken wings at Applebees are 1700 calories a serving...without the bleu cheese (or ranch) dip.
I sometimes ask them for celery and bring my own dressing for an appetizer.
Or a salad with my own dressing.
Oh, pull the skin off the wings. Marinate in Louisanna hot sauce at least an hour. Take em out and spray with butter flavored Pam. Bake in the oven. I actually bake mine twice. Once with just a spray of pam and then again after a toss with Louisanna hot sauce. Serve with zero calorie bleu cheese dressing (Waldenfarms has one...or use low cal).
Not quite the same, but still good. Only the calories from the chicken wings themselves are enough to count. (unless you use low cal instead of zero calorie dressing).
No more fat chick,
Have I said hello? There are so many of us - I lose track. Anyway, hello, nice to hear from you.
Kdh,
Wendy's has some good salad and low fat dressings. That is what I had for lunch today.
Eh, I know too late to tell you that today. Oh, well - tomorrow is another day.
67, sounds like all the buffalo wing flavors.
There is no way we can eat the restaurant version of chicken wings. Try experimenting with home made. Try baking them in the oven in butter flavored pam and then tossing with Tabasco and baking again.
Waldenfarms makes some good zero calorie salad dressings. They are a bit expensive, but worth it for a little flavor.
I've never been that keen on homemade wings. We went through a phase when we had a deep fryer (there's the cause and solution to all of my problems right there). We made the batter and sauce ourselves and tried various seasonings from Franks Red Hot and some butter to elaborate recipes culled from the web.
I keep a good supply of BBQ sauces and am content to have them with a grilled chicken breast.
Heya Texmom! Ive been rather sporadic of late and not much of a pressence here lately but that is one of my goals now that fall is coming the world seems to be slowing.

Making them ourselves is a good alternative, but just not the same. I understand about them not being the same, but the hot sauce, buttery chickeny flavor is there.
BBQ wings are good, too. BBQ is good. I like grilled chicken a little BBQ sauce on the side to dip it in.
no more fat chick,
I just like to touch base now and then with folks. Not everyone is as obsessed as I am. It helps me to talk. It helps me to have something to do with my hands other than eat.
I totally agree and i think my being away contributed to my losing some of the weightloss focus. To much guilt to be on CC and snack at the same time. Its gotta be one or the other for me. Time to make the right choice!!
Yeah,
I understand. However, I CAN snack and use the computer, I just think that talking on here helps remind me...no way am I going to ruin a good day's work by eating the wrong kind of snack.
I had a really bad urge earlier today to go munching thru the cabinets, but I didn't. I came here and started talking with people instead.
Good therapy.
being here is an awesome way to get through the snack time of the night!!! better than caving to the chocolate cravings....arggg
I'm like Texmom, being on here and reading and talking helps keep me away from the late night munchies - Although, all that talk about chicken wings IS making me kind of hungry....
Now then lyntex,
If you have to have them, then tomorrow go to the store, get the ingredients and make them...or buy some frozen and plan them into your day. Just DON'T go out and buy them...they are way high on the scale.
Think of something else. How about a nice juicy apple. So sweet and juicy. they have good fiber and antioxidants. Eat the skin, that's where the best stuff is they say.
I am fixing to go and make me some fruit cocktail/low cal vanilla pudding snack with a few pretzels crushed and sprinkled on the top. May not be all that healthy, but hits a spot somewhere in my psyche.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
