I haven't weighed myself in months... first because I shouldn't since I'm recovering... and second because I couldn't, as my scale is broken, again!

anyways the last time I did weigh myself I was about 98lbs...

BUT yesterday I stepped on a scale in my doctors office and to my surprise it said 115lbs! WHAT??? this cannot be right, there is no possible way I could gain 18lbs in like 2 months eating 1400-1500cal!!

my reasoning is based on the fact that all my clothes still fit the same, and i dont look any different... I was also wearing clothes and it was later in the day, (so extra food/water weight + clothing) ...this was also just a non-digital scale, the kind that you step on and the little pointer moves kinda like a clock... I also noticed that there was quite a few obese people in the waiting room... so my guess is all that extra weight stepping on the scale everyday must of screwed it up, right?

please tell me that this number is not accurate... I was almost in tears... its not right, it can't be

:(

Even if you did gain weight it's not fat gain because you fit into your clothes the same so don't freak out. You're healthy and so much better these days. When people look at you they don't see a number, they see the vibrant fabulous you.

1) Your scale was probably broken

2) Why on earth are you still eating so little?

3) Why are you counting?

1) my home scale is broken... i don't know about the doctor's one... but it seems it must be

2) eating so little? i gained 10lbs eating this much! how much should i be eating? fyi i would like to maintain around 100lbs

3) counting is second nature to me... i know the calorie count of EVERYTHING now.. and if I don't I esimate and it is usually very accurate... it's stuck in my head and it doesn't go away... it keeps me sane, although it is the cause of my insanity

Kay. Your clothes fit the same. Therefore it's probably muscle or water weight.. or even food. People can gain FIVE POUNDS A DAY from food/water/chyme.
It's so stupid to look at the scale to determine how you are looks-wise. My friend is 160 pounds and looks thinner than a girl who is 120 lbs with no muscle.
If anything, you're probably closer to a healthy BMI than at 100 lbs.

hmmm...if your clothes still fit the same, then it is probably from muscle rather than weight gain.  Also, non-digital scales always seem to be the most difficult in getting an accurate reading, especially since it's in a doctor's office & people of all different sizes are standing on it.  I would just concentrate on being healthy, fit & fabulous rather than a number on a scale. Smile

lol, the doctor's office scale didn't get messed up from fat people weighing on it. Your digital scale was wrong. If your clothes fit the same you shouldn't care.

Carmen, the last thing you probably want to hear is that weight is just a number.  Case in point, your clothes fit the same.

As for the doc's office scale, by the way you described it, is probably inaccurate, but by 18 pounds???  You are very correct that by days end and wearing clothes and shoes, your weight will increase on the scale, but by five pounds usually.

Don't "freak" about it.  I would "freak" if my clothes were tight and had "muffin top". I wouldn't let "that" scale drive you crazy.  I would just chaulk it all up to "life" Carmen.  Your clothes fit, you look good .  .  .  Honestly. You are fine.

i agree..if the clothes fit the same, the little weight you have gained over the past months is muscle mass..which is good!

dr scales are probably more accurate than any home scale, but again, dont let this bother you.  you are doing great..getting more healthy and in shape and remember, muscle burns more cals and weighs more than fat..so youre good!  also, i too dont weight myself anymore..(hubby hid the scale, although i wont do it anymore anyway because i dont want to know how much weight ive gained) but at the drs office, i turn around so i dont see the number.  they are aware of my situation with ed, so its no big deal.  try that..it helps me anyway.

chiilllll chiilll....when my doc used weigh me i used be like half a stone lighter on er scale which use get me in so much trouble......but the moral of the story is u only ever weigh urself on the one scales.... ok coz their all different.

so make a pact with ur doc that only she/he will weigh u on that scale (all the time) u leave ur broken scales as it is......

your doing great....really great.dont let this scare u..........its **** numbers....jus numbers
Along with gaining muscle, you may have gained "inner" weight. When your body gets to a very low fat percentage, it starts consuming your organs. So along with muscle, your organs may have rebuilt themselves and given you extra weight, too. Also, you may have gained a healthy layer of fat around your organs that is necessary to cushion them.

I agree with all of the above posters' estimations, too, just didn't want to repeat it. Although, I can relate to you in that numbers are triggering. When you meet with your doctor, before you weigh in, you can politely ask her not to tell you your weight. Unless it is under or over, the doctor should be fine with it.
Okay so you probably know what I am going to say....YOU ARE GORGEOUS AND YOU SHOULD NOT FOCUS ON NUMBERS!

Believe me I know this is hard because I still get down about gaining, but I also gained on 1400 and it was around 20 pounds. Please just focus on eating what you NEED and your body will thank you....100 pounds is not an option! Where you are now is amazing...you are healthy and finally fabulous looking, unlike a skeleton!

xoxoxo

OK some of you are really bringing me down.

I should probably add this: about a month ago I actually did step on my aunt's scale (which is a non-digital like the doctor's one) and it said I weighed 105lbs, WITH CLOTHES and it was late in the day... this seems much more accurate.

my home scale said 98lbs 2 months ago.

so therefore I do not believe I could of gained that much in two months, even with extra clothing/food/water weight... okay?

this doctors scale is obviously wrong, and I just can't stand the fact that when I do get weighed, they are going to have an innacurate recording of my weight (along with countless other people)

the last time I was weighed by a doctor I was about 90lbs... so if their next weigh in for me is 30lbs more, that just does not seem right!

positivelinny yes 100lbs is an option for someone my height, this was my weight pre-ED and a weight I am very comfortable with. AND it should be the weight I am right now, (if I could accurately weigh myself) so if I am 'finally fabulous looking' then that is what 100lbs looks like on me.

btw there are also many HEALTHY women on this site who are 5'2 and weigh around 100lbs as well... so saying that 100lbs is not an option, is kinda unfair dont you think? it may not be an option for you since you are taller, but for me it is...

i would say it's not accurate. 8 lbs would make your clothes AT LEAST a little tighter. but even if you are 115, if you look no different than you did at 100, then you should seriously not worry about it.

You could go to the shops and try out one of the scales there... but if it comes back the same as the doctor's one you might consider the possibility that if you can't maintain a weight without restriction and calorie counting then it's not right for you.

I was 115lbs about 2 or 3 years ago and a size 3 in jeans... now I can still fit my 00's (but 0's are usually a better fit)... I just bought some 24 jeans today and they are big on me, when I was 115lbs I was wearing 26 jeans.

I know I am still around 100lbs, I just really despise the fact that the DOCTORS scale could be at least 10lbs innaccurate.

I feel sorry for all those other people who step on it just to be disappointed in the end.

ALSO this is a NEW doctor's office I am going to.. my old doctor moved back to england

Carmen, you are a very intelligent and vocal individual.  You appear to be very angry at the doctor's office.  Voice your anger to  the doctor's office, along with everything you just stated above.  As an adult now, (18) you are in total control of your health care provider(s).  They can voice thier opinions and ideas, but ultimately, you are in control of your healthcare.  If you are upset with the office(as it sounds), let them know just how you feel. Having good communication between you and your doctor makes the difference.
what do you want so??? u come on here lookn for support?? ppl are encouraging u n tellin you to stop focusn on numbers.....and you tell us we are bringn u down.

you say initially u didn weigh urself. then u baktrack n say u lied. SO WHAT if the doctors scale is innaccurate.....say u dont want to be weighed by it.......i personally find it offensive that you seem to be bragging about 00 jeans..........its like ur happy to still be exceptionally thin

your whole self esteem is clearly still hooked on weight. the scales sed what it sed. none of us can change that, we can provide support and encouragment. u know u need to eat 1400-1500 a day, and if the scales upsets u then stay away from the damn thing.

but dont slate ppl who came here in response to ur distress. step outside urself a bit. if u want to be healthy be healthy. i think a wake up call is in need tho
Well.  Im just saying that 115 is Awesome.  And I was in the same situation as you, In about 2 months from barely even 1,400 calories I went up from 98-to exactly 115.  And im Still 115 for probably a year and a half.  So It's perfect now I can actually maintain.
Carmen, forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't you 17 or 18 years old? Your body is still growing and maturing at that age--not only externally, but internally. Your bones and organs are still growing. Once you started restricting and getting serious into your eating disorder, your body stopped worrying about developing and focused on merely keeping you alive. Your body may just be catching up.

Although parts of my ED I know I have overcome, weight is a factor I think will always be a problem--therefore, I don't weigh myself. As long as you are at a healthy weight according to your doctor, then why focus on the specifics? You are young, beautiful, and have family and friends that love and care about you. There are more important things to worry about and focus on than a pointless number that bounces around daily, anyhow.
Like most people here have stated, to me it seems like you are very much focused on numbers. If I recall correctly sometime not too long ago you posted on the maintain fourm and while I dont remember the question you had then, you had made a comment to someone who eats very healthy and you criticezed them for being overly obsessive about food, and that they should stop worrying about numbers. You also seem to often state that numbers are just numbers, though you dont exactly take you own advice. What im trying to say is that if you truley belived that then you would follow it.

Also when you posted this thread you seemed very distressed about the information you just found out. While people here are trying to be reassuring you continuously shoot them down almost like you diddn't get the answer you wanted and so your trying to prove them wrong by stating all the facts. But honestly if you know you are still 100 pounds then why are you so worried? And 100 pounds is not for everybody, even if you are 5'4 some people just can't maintain that, and mabye the hardest part is accepting that. Lastly it doesn't really matter what you were pre ED this is post ED and im sure alot of things have changed since then, internally and externally.
