Reason: Moved from Weight Gain to Foods.
Baked oatmeal is awesome - it's one of the first recipes in the link. Further down on the list is crockpot oatmeal - soooo good.
Hmm. Have you tried oatmeal with granola, banana, raisins, and PB? Soo good. Also good: oats with grated carrot, raisins, crushed almonds and coconut flakes.
Or trail mix oats: raisins, flaked coconut, granola, chocolate chips
Or oats with dried cherries and nutella. Or strawberries and jam with nutella. Or mixed frozen berries and coconut flakes.
Or pumpkin pie filling, raisins, and PB. Or pumpkin with cranberries and coconut.
Also, there are many different kinds of hot cereals that offer different tastes/textures. Oats, oat bran, multi-grain hot cereals, etc. All different. And a really great way to change flavors and add calories is using flavored coffee creamer. I put some into my oats every night before bed. I usually go for vanilla caramel or cinnamon bun. It makes the oats extra creamy and gives them a really different taste.
- Carrot Cake Oats (shredded carrot, flaxseed, pinch of cinnamon, vanilla, a wee bit of mashed banana or maple syrup; topped with Greek yogurt "icing", chopped nuts, and raisins.
- Banana Bread Oats (with mashed in banana and walnuts on top)
- Pumpkin Pie Oats (pumpkin, spices, cottage cheese, cooked with milk and topped with nut butter)
- PB&J Oats
- Smore's Oats
- Savory oats (eaten like grits and topped with an egg and some turkey bacon)
- Tropical Oats (cooked with some coconut milk and part water, mixed in mashed banana and dried pineapple, and topped with macadamia nut butter and shredded coconut)
- Chocolate Oats (honey, cocoa powder, cooked in milk or chocolate soymilk and topped with a few dark chocolate chips, raspberries, and Greek yogurt)
Here are some recipes I found. Of course, you should change the ingredients to full-fat products and can adjust portion sizes to make them higher calorie.

I love oatmeal!
I eat my oatmeal with splenda and cinnamon, either that or sometimes strawberry jam mixed in with it.
I have heard of people making it with cottage cheese or eggs or a combo of both into a pancake. Make it with milk or other like soy or almond milk.
It looks like this might be in one of the posts above, but my favorite is plain rolled oats (from the bulk drawer) -cover with water and microwave for two minutes then add a spoonful of canned pumpkin.
plain works, but the spiced kind is better (it adds a little sugar, though)
Super healthy; tastes like pie!
This one is rather savory and it sounds really odd but I love it.
Basically you take 1/4 cup chopped onion, 1 inch of cinamon stick, a couple of whole cloves and the "beans" of 2-3 cardomom pods and saute with a touch of olive oil or butter unitl the onion turns clear.
(I use about a teaspoon of oil and add water to the pan if the onions are not quite done when the oil is spent)
When this is done, add the whole mess to your water for the oatmeal and bring to a boil, before adding the oatmeal, strain out the spices but leave the onion.
Throw in a handful of raisins with the oatmeal and cook until done.
Now I know the onion sounds really weird but it combines with the spices and sweetness of the onions to make something really, really good.
I've made coffee & tea oatmeal before when I cooked steel cut oats on the stovetop. Use brewed coffee or steeped tea instead of just plain water. To the coffee one, I added a bit of vanilla soy milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cane sugar & dried cranberries. To the tea one, I added chai spices, cane sugar & vanilla soy milk. You could just any kind of tea, really. I used black tea to compliment the chai spices.
I also made some good Christmas oatmeals: Gingerbread (add ginger, cinnamon, cloves, molasses), egg nog (soy nog, cinnamon, nutmeg) and candy cane (a crushed up candy cane, cocoa powder).
I love oatmeal.
I like it in shakes.
Some fresh or frozen fruit, bananas are great. Some skim milk or low-fat yogurt, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/3 c DRY oats. Mix in blender until smooth.
1 packet maple spice oatmeal
1/3 cup Cottage cheese
1/3 cup nonfat plain yogurt
raisins
Cook the oatmeal as directed on package, mix in everything else! It's SO AMAZING. Hahah. I wish I could eat it for Breakfast lunch and dinner!!
O my gosh some of these sound awesome, I have to try them all!!!
Personal faves:
PB, strawberry jam and cut up strawberries
cooked in choccy milk with melted chocolate on top lol
PB, banana, honey and peanuts
mixed spice and vanilla essence
I think this might fall more in the bizarre category, but Mark Bittman of the New York Times has a recipe for oatmeal with soy sauce and scallions. I haven't personally tried it, but someone at Serious Eats did and enjoyed the outcome. Here is a link: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2009/01/ma rk-bittmans-savory-oatmeal-with-scallions-and -soy-sauce-recipe.html
I absolutely LOVE baked oatmeal! It's so good. Depending on how much liquid you used and how long you cooked it, it can come out moist and somewhat crumbly or dense and chewy. Either way, it's delicious.
-1/2 cup Blueberries, couple pecans, & dash of cinnamon.
-Add a bit of bear naked granola. I especially love the chocolate one & the vanilla one. My little brother adores the apple cinnamon one.
-Dried banana chips.
-Pumpkin seeds.
-Craisins.
+Add flax seeds to any of the listed combinations.
