the crazy things people do

Quote  |  Reply
Today when I was at work I had to keep myself from calling my coworker an idiot. She told me she was a diet and watching her carbs so she ate a whole tub of cool whip with a packet of peanuts mixed in. Thats like at least 800 cals. If only she knew how bad that is for her espcially since cool whip is all hydrogonated oils. Anyone have someone they know do something stupid like this?

I knew a girl who wanted to lose weight. She figured if she wrote down everything she ate (without actually knowing the cals), she'd see where she was going wrong, and change. She wrote it down for a week, looked at it, and said "See, I'm doing everything right- I eat subway, and salads, and brown rice, and whole wheat bread, and I went to the gym TWICE this week - yet I'm not losing weight!" Later, she started using fitday and cc+ to actually figure out how many calories she needed and how many she was eating, and lost weight slowly and carefully. Recently, she found this old log, and realized that at the time, she was probably eating at least maintenance during the week (even on days at the gym), and more than that on the weekends.

Yeah... that girl was me... Embarassed

Chipotle is awesome...but an 871 calorie dinner is only in the cards after a 2 hour jiu jitsu workout...which lucky me was today!

They look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them 1/2 the rice and double the veggies and salsa.

A friend of mines was on the cabbage soup diet.. Man on man did she smell bad all the time.. Gas all the time.. Come on now.. Give us people who want some fresh air from time to time.. She was on this thing for a few weeks, and we all asked her what was the point of this diet.. She said to lose 9 pounds a week.. Well she didn't lose five pounds a week, because she was eating everything in site.. Not only that.. Who wants to live with a person on that diet? There nose will never get a break with all of that gas in the air...

She pasted on to us.. You know the diet.. Like it was gold, when she lost her first 1 pound.. LOL.... I said, girlfriend... I will pass on that diet.. I can come up with something better than that..

Then I had a friend on the bacon diet.. 4 strips in the morning, and then 1 egg, then she would have bacon for lunch 2 strips and a salad, and then she would have another 2 strips for dinner with another salad.. The only thing that was good with her diet was the salad... TOOO much bacon.. She gain 6 pounds within the first week, and was pissed at the other friend who had past it on to her.. LOL.....

Thank goodness it wasn't me who pasted that diet on to her.. I always just look them over, and say..... Whatever.... I'm not going to give that one a try..... Toss them in the trash.. I swear this work they say, and come to find out that crap didn't work at all....

YUK to both

Next time someone is eating wrong, and say they are on a diet.. Just set them up with the link to CC.

A friend of mine is on the "cabbage soup diet." She said that the diet allows her to eat whatever she wants as long as she eats cabbage soup at some point during the day. How that could possibly help you lose weight I don't know. Maybe it's just me but I don't see the common sense in that...

Who gave your coworker the idea that eating a bucket of cool whip would be healthier than eating say, an apple. :P

Your friend's on the wrong cabbage soup diet.  I had a friend who did it and she was only allowed to eat/drink cabbage soup ... oops!

Every cabbage soup diet is the wrong cabbage soup diet.

I do sometimes make comments like that and if someone was listening in they would probably think i'm a moron but it is just a joke, such as when i drink lots of wine its technically okay cause its grapes so basically i''m just getting in my 5 a day of fruit and veg. I don't mean it though..

I work with a woman who did the Master Cleanse. She said that she loved it. I asked what it was and she said she drank lemon aide with cayanne pepper in it. SWEEET!

This sounds like Lemonaide detox and is not what I call a diet.  I have had several friends who had allergies and tried the detox plan and their allergies were gone.

Apparently, if you get too overloaded with toxins your body begins to have auto immune reactions to everyday things like Pollen, and Pet dander.

But no I dont think I would call a detox fast a diet.

Call it what you will -- drinking only lemonade with cayanne pepper for 2 weeks is a crash diet.

You can "cleanse" yourself in other ways than drinking lemonade and cayanne pepper.

I needed a quick lunch on the go last week so I went to a salad bar at my local grocery store. The girl in front of me was SO SLOW and so I got to overhear her talking to her friend about everything she put in her 'salad'.

Girl 1: what's the difference between these lettuces?

(there were iceberg, spinach and spring mix trays)

Girl 2: (pointing to the iceberg) that one has less calories

Girl 1: (getting 1/2 cup of iceberg) good, I'm on a really strict diet

Girl 2: oh, good for you. What are you doing?

Girl 1: mostly just trying to eat low cal and exercise a bit

(I thought, oh good, she's being healthy! she's in pretty good shape, but maybe she wants to tone up. I then watched Girl 1 load up her salad with a few veggies, but not much, and then hit the dangerous end of the salad bar, the part that has nothing to do with salad. She got at least a 1/2 cup each of potato salad, macaroni salad, tuna salad and pasta salad. Each of these are almost pure mayo/oil. Then she covered the small green part of her salad in bacon bits, croutons, and tortilla chip strips. She she reached the dressing. Now I go to this salad bar quite a bit so I've gotten the nutritional info on all of their products and her 'salad' must be over 1200 calories so far)

Girl 1: what dressing is best (picks up the lite oregano vinaigrette at 50 cal per 2 Tbsp, my favorite)

Girl 2: Oh don't do that, vinaigrettes are almost 100% oil!, here try this one (hands her the 'country herb' a kicked up version of ranch) This is better (190cal per 2 Tbsp)

- May I never have such an 'informed' friend.

My favorite is the people who go to McDick's and order a meal thing with a diet coke, I mean really at that point why bother trying to save calories!

I used to work at McDonald's in the front drive threw.  Those of use who worked drive threw would try and guess the weight of the person ordering.  I am dead serious when I say when ever someone order a Super Size big mac meal with diet coke, it was also a seriously obese person.

So many times I wanted to ask them WTF?? they were thinking.  Yet, I always gave them their bag of food and diet coke with a smile.

Hahaha! Guilty - of both! I worked at McD's in high school and used to say the same exact thing!

However - I started drinking diet soda many years ago and now I don't like the taste of regular soda, so I always order diet. And I've been the fat person in the drive-thru ordering a huge greasy sandwich and super-size fries -- with a large Diet Coke. I always used to laugh because I knew what the drive-thru person was thinking haha  :)

EDIT: Ok so maybe it was a little embarrassing at the time, but I can laugh about it now  :)

I like diet soda better too. And I hate the way that regular soda feels in my mouth/on my teeth. And I always get diet if I'm drinking soda (which I do, probably, once a month, really, and the rest of the time it's unsweetened tea, but whatever). So I'm sure people have always thought I was trying to be healthy, even on my cheat meals, but I just enjoy diet soda.

Oh, and yeah, the salad thing:

My coworker has started "eating healthy" so she gets a bed of lettuce (yay) and then covers it in chicken salad made with mayo (boo), a bunch of raisins (boo) and then still covers it with dressing (nasty!).

if she didn't cover it with dressing and had about 1/2 cup of Chix salad...she would have had a winner there...so close and yet so far :-)

Yeah, she told me she was frustrated because she wasn't seeing any improvements and I directed her here. Maybe we'll see changes!

I find showers work best for me.

I wouldn't actually do it.  Keep in mind some of the "health nuts" out there do really stupid things....like coffee and molasses enema on a weekly basis.

I was gonna do the "apple detox" but then I thought it was STUPID!!! Couldn't my body detox over a long period of eating better foods???

HAHAHAHA! Me Too!!

Detox/Cleanse...avoid the spendy packs. Best to just mix an appropriate amount of Bentonite (detoxer) with Psyllium. Adding real lemon juice kicks it up a notch. You will save a lot of money and can just add it to your regular diet. No fasting necessary.
