the crazy things people do
Haha! I know someone like that.
One of my good friends started a "low carb" diet and ordered a whole pizza, and ate the entire toppings only.
Surely all that cheese and oil can't POSSIBLY make you fat...

Call it what you will -- drinking only lemonade with cayanne pepper for 2 weeks is a crash diet.
You can "cleanse" yourself in other ways than drinking lemonade and cayanne pepper.
I find showers work best for me.
ROFL!
no kidding the lemonade would just be all sticky after awhile....showers (in water ;) are the way to go ;p
a co-worker of mine was very overweight, and decided to go on the atkins diet.. she saw that bacon was acceptable... so for a snack, she'd bring in packages of microwave bacon and eat it...
"The Atkins Corporation denies that Dr. Atkins' own cardiomyopathy-induced heart attack, hypertension, and blocked arteries had anything to do with his diet"
riiiiight
PPl who count there calories but instead of filling up on proper meals just fill up on stuff like biscuits, crisps, coke white bread and prossedham then wonder why they are hungry also excercise too.
My mother is always like well I want to loose weigth so I did 20 sit ups last night like 1) that will burn fat 2) she will even be able to see the effect of the sit ups till she has burnt the fat. Also ppl who go to the gym and just take a lesurly stroll on the treadmill whist reading a mag then go to the gym cafe and buy a giant creamy latta chocho creamy calorie hell drink.
and a muffin nor a giant cookie WHY?
I went to gym with my cousin once and she did just that and was like why are you only eating a yogurt.
My (least) favorite tidbit about other people's "diet"s are how they think that Caloric intake is the end-all be-all of weight loss/maintenance/gain(good gain...not bad gain) I saw this in someone's profile(they shall remain nameless) complaining about how their recommended Kcals were 3100 and then came up with this plan:
Breakfast
1 McDonalds McSkillet Breakfast Burritos-660 calories
1 Hashbrown- 140 calories
Snack
Snickers bar-270
Lunch
Mazzios pizza 4 meat pizza original crust 3 slices-875 calories
Snack
Sack of BBQ potato chips-140 calories
Dinner
4 spicy strips from popeyes-570
1 order of cajun rice-170
Biscuit-240 calories
Total-3,065 calories
geez....I wonder why you aren't going to lose weight on THIS diet plan.
Wayyyy back when I was a teen (sorry bout the extra y's Heather hehe) I went to an evil diet centre place where the diet was so strictly low-fat, I was only allowed to eat poached chicken breast as protein and very limited amounts of that, and 2t of olive oil per day which they told me the "had" to include (probably by law!). No nuts, no other meat, no salmon or tuna, no avocado, nothing with any fat whatsoever. It was the 80's and low-fat was all the rage. I was 15 when I went there...a normal weight, too (not so much anymore!). They charged me $300 per month for that insanity. Now I worry that my brain did not reach it's full potential due to malnutrition during growing years. But most of the time I feel pretty smrt.

OMG! I was laughing so hard I almost wet myself. The part that isnt so funny is that if you double or triple everything on the list it is about the diet I was on that got me where I am now.......queen of fat ass land. If I kept eating like that for a few more years I could have had the joy of being cut out of my own home and driven to the hospital by a wide load semi truck. Damn.....why did I stop with that diet! I could have been on the evening news!
I lost 70 pounds on tubs of cool whip, bacon, and turkey italian sausage. I did low carb for a year when I was 21. Im not kidding at all. Didnt have to watch ANYTHING except for carbs and protien. That was it. Cool whip has no carbs...come on. When my ex was eating a bowl of ice cream I would bust out the cool whip light and sugar free jello....and the cool whip was not the garnish. lmao. But hey....it worked until I stopped and started eating normal again. :)
I also only like diet soda.....but even that I can only handle rarely.
My friend got all crazy over the grapefruit diet.....insanity. Then a church going friend went on the jesus diet. Basically with the jesus diet all foods have to be raw, you only get 2 meals a day and they cant weigh over a pound, and you have to fast for one day a week. She lost weight....and then her hair started falling out. I guess she should have prayed a little more on it.
HAHAHAHA well if it was the jesus diet she should have been drinking wine and smoking weed all day long too.
BTW.....I love mcskillet burritos in a really bad way. I used to go to mcdonalds every day before work and get 2 of them with a hashbrown and a medium diet coke and be in heaven for the 10 min ride to work. Never again. Maybe when I reach my goal weight that will be my reward. lol One mcskillet burrito meal. :)
Maybe I should go on the taco bell diet.......I could be the next Jarod. They even serve breakfast now too. My second favorite breakfast burrito....the guacamole bacon breakfast grilled stuft burrito. Let me know if anyone is starting the KFC diet....we can compare notes.
Sometimes I just have to bite my tongue...

A friend of mine thinks she's being healthy when she eats a can of beans for lunch. The whole can. For lunch. And a lot of the time, she'll chop up a whole onion into it, and then toss it with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The whole thing. It boggles the mind, really.
That sounds good to me!! But I love beans =)
My dad is the "healthiest" guy I know. He thinks eating cans of tuna with half a jar of mayo is great. So is cooking veggies with half a cup of oil. I mean, it's still veggies, right? :p

Then again, we had this conversation the other day:
*phone rings, I pick up*
Her: OMG! I just got back from lunch and I looked up the nutritionals for my lunch at corner bakery and I'm flipping out.
Me: Why?
Her: It's like, 900 calories.
Me: Well, what'd you get?
Her: The chop salad! It's a salad! A SALAD FOR 900 CALORIES! This can't be right.
Me: Well, did it have bacon in it?
Her: Yes
Me: Blue Cheese?
Her: Yes
Me: Salad dressing on the side?
Her: No.
Me: Well, that sounds about right.
Her: Oh.Or... she would go to Chipotle for lunch every day, and she'd get the vegetarian burrito bol without sour cream and cheese and she was being "good". I told her she really should log it, and see how much it really was. She was shocked to find out that it was almost 1000 calories and had 3 times her daily recommended sodium. I asked her why she would think she was doing so well and she said "because it didn't have meat in it". LOL. Hello! You cut out the only real protein! Now you're just getting a big dish of carbs covered in fat! (She started that one after reading "Skinny Bitch" -- she also started wearing heavy sweaters to work out so she'd sweat more, because, apparently, dehydrating yourself is good for you.)
a whole can of kidney beans only has 210 calories - add a bit of onion and a small amount of oil and you've got a fairly tasty and healthy lunch, no? Or am I missing something?

Chipotle is awesome...but an 871 calorie dinner is only in the cards after a 2 hour jiu jitsu workout...which lucky me was today!
They look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them 1/2 the rice and double the veggies and salsa.
Yeah, I went this weekend and they looked at me like I was crazy when I told them no tortilla, no meat, no dairy, sauce on the side, etc. I still went waaay over my sodium.
How about this one: one of my family members was chewing her food and spitting it out. I asked her what was wrong and she said nothing, that she was on the chew and spit it out diet. I told her that was stupid and bad for her. She said she lost some weight doing that, but I told her yeah, because you're not eating. That's just weird.

My favorite is the people who go to McDick's and order a meal thing with a diet coke, I mean really at that point why bother trying to save calories!
I do have to disagree with this one. I do occasionally crave fast food, and when I do, I always always always get a diet coke. Why should I add insult to injury by having the extra 400 cals or whatever it is. And I can normally keep the meal under 800 cals, which isn't totally unreasonable for a dinner.

I've seen this mentioned a couple times now as the new ED fad. My husband does it on rare occasions.
I wonder, was this type of thing "in" before the Sex and The City episode where Miranda's ex-boyfriend lost a lot of weight in LA doing this?
I have a coworker who used to be a Marine, and since coming home and moving in with his gf, has gained FIFTY POUNDS. He oddly still thinks he's in good shape, and "eats healthy." However... It seems like he's literally calorie loading all the time!
He eats breakfast at home, then at 10 a.m. eats a TURKEY burger on two whole wheat slices of bread w a side of broccoli.
He then eats lunch (pei wei, chipotle whatever.. etc)
Then at 2:00 eats ANOTHER turkey burger sandwich! I'm like, unless you are doing hard labor all day, that's a weight gain diet! We're not even COUNTING whatever he does after work and at dinner.
He doesn't understand what's going on.. Thinks it's his metabolism...

I am not sure Julie.
This was a few years ago, that I caught her doing that. Since I learned about Eating Disorders, when I look back at that relative's behavior, I realize that she has a lot of disordered eating and always gets into these fad diets. I think she may be a compulsive eater/starver too because I caught her hiding food to eat and then hiding food from meals to later throw away in the trash. I also know she vomits, and we have had many caring conversations about her behavior, but she is completely in denial. I am trying to set a good example for her, because she will do whatever I do if she sees that it is good.
In my teens, I knew a girl who swore she lost 80 pounds by eating only, M&M's , you would never see her without a bag of them. So, I tried it and gained 20.
I am not a pop drinker but when I do I prefer diet to the taste of regular because the regular is too sweet for my taste and I have been guilty of ordering from fast foods all of that and diet pop too.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
Take the Diet Profile Test and learn to avoid the pitfalls and self-sabotage that often come with your personal profile.
