creative workouts w/o gym?
I'm 15 and fairly athletic, and I love the feeling after a good workout, especially at the gym. The problem is that a gym membership is exepensive, and I don't have transportation there. When I'm at my dad's (1-3 consecutive days/week) I use his elliptical trainer for HIIT and stationary bike. But when I'm at my mom's, there's not much I can do. We have no excercise equiptment, and I have trouble running normally because I have really bad knees and have had injuries and surgeries (ACL, MCL, tissue overgrowth). I'm not big into biking, and I feel kind of silly just going for a walk. I horseback ride 3-4 times a week, but becuase I'm training a young horse it's usually not too intense. I also dance, but only 1-2 times a week. I do barn chores and things like that too. But how can I get really good excercise? I love HIIT, it's great for the endorphins. Is there any way I can get in a workout of that intensity?

It's not cardio, and I'm not sure if you meant cardio or not, but what about strength exercises using your body weight? (tricep dips, push ups, pull ups, lunges, etc.)?
I actually play the game DDR, there is a workout mode, and since ou like dancing this would be great! Although...it's not the type of dancing you'd do in public.
If you haven't heard of it, you can buy the games on Ebay, or Amazon, for a good price, and most of the muisc in the game is pretty good.
I lost a ton of weight from this, and it really tones believe it or not.
So consider this =)

There are three free workout videos off of this page that require no equipment.

Your local library might have workout videos you can borrow. Most libraries let you request videos too. I suggest Tae Bo. It's fast paced and fun. You can also look at Turbo Jam. I have had two back surgeries and I find that these routines are low impact. You can modify the moves too.
thanks! I actually do strength training 3-4 times a week, I don't really have a problem sticking that in. and actually I love DDR! it is a great workout :-) but i dont have a system, i've only played at friend's houses and such...do they make a mat or dvd or something that you can do w/o a system? and i'll work on those videos.
bump..anyone else have thoughts?
If you have a DVD player, you can get all sorts of workout DVDs. I love my crunch yoga and crunch Pilates DVDs; plus I have an assortment of aerobic ones too. Most are still available in VHS if that's what you've got.
Those take nothing but floor space and maybe a mat, or towel or rug for comfort.
