creek in the neck...any ideas?

Quote  |  Reply
so 2 nights ago my ds fell asleep on my wonderfull memory foam pillow and his own pillow so i resigned myself to using some wacky stuffed animal type pillow and woke up w/ a creek in my neck and it's still here.  does anyone have any good home remedy tricks to make it go away?

Mix 1 drop of clove oil with a tbsp of olive oil and shake well then rub into affected area and massage. It's bit like deep heat but acts as a natural analgesic. Be careful if you're pregnant as some oils can be dangerous
thanks!  i happen to have both clove and olive oil at home!
One word - Chiropractor.  They have saved my life!!!!!  I have terrible back back problems and my mom has really bad neck problems.  Chiropractors have changed both of our lives.  Go to one, have your neck cracked (you might have to go twice depending on how bad it is) and you will be good as new.
I respectfully disagree with abeckert.  Chiropractic neck adjustments can cause stroke.  Check out this article:

Chiropractic Treatment of the Neck can be a Risk Factor for Stroke

Try a heating pad and ibuprofen or naproxen sodium.  I get baaaaad neck problems and my doc prescribed Flexeril (a muscle relaxer) to be taken with naproxen.  She also recommended the heat therapy.

agree w purespark. ive seen a lot of articles like that.

i have bad back problems too and i get massaged and lots of rest hwen it acts us.
You have a creek?? In your neck?? Go fishing!! Or tubing.......
I've gone to the chiroprator off and on for years. Every time my back acts up she takes care of it.  Warm moist heat should help if you have a heating pad or one of those little things you can wet and heat in microwave. Hope you feel better.
Have 25 whiskeys and call me in the mourning!
-long hot bath

-ibuprofin

-gentle stretching exercises (e.g., slowly circle your head around  and find the spot where it feels like it needs the stretch, where it sort of gives you a good kind of pain/tension, and hold it there for a bit. Circle around at different angles, alternating directions)
Ice works for me rather than heat.  I think sometimes these aches and pains are caused by inflammation and the ice takes care of that.
i went to chiropractors for years and got lots of relief from it, but i stopped going after a 'bad' adjustment may have left me with a herniated disk in my neck. now that i read all of the information about stroke risk, i'll definitely never go again and never recommend it to anyone.

i kind of wish i'd heard the advice "never let them do anything above your shoulders" before i'd decided to go.

ice works well for me too. then heat, massage, ibuprofen, light stretching and some time to rest do the trick.
