Criticism at work...
There are a group of us at work that have started our own "Biggest Loser" competition. We all set our own personal goals and now that it we are getting towards the end of our time frame we were at lunch sharing how close we are to reaching them.
Well needless to say I am closer than a lot of people but some of them did the math and figured out that my goal weight is around 113lbs. That's down about 30lbs from where I started (I am a 25yo female and approx 4'11").
I'm just looking for some opinions on my goal weight....is it that unrealistic or are they just jealous that I might win this competition?
I am 4'11" and my goal weight is 115 - I was 113 this time last year and I looked really great :) Curvy, toned, and thin. I'm 19 years old currently 124 trying to get back there. Good luck with your competition! I think you'll be really happy at that weight - a lot of tall people don't understand the small numbers.
I'm a hair short of 5 ft even and my goal is 115. That's my weight before ever having kids and it was just right. I agree that taller people really can't see how 115 can be healthy-but it is! Good luck!
A healthy weight for someone of your height is 99 to 124 lbs. If you have a petit bone structure, you can safely be on the low end. If you have a larger bone structure, you'd be better at the higher end.
They are just jealous that A) you might win the competition and B) that you had the discipline to lose 30 lbs! Dont' worry about what anyone says about your goal weight. You are in a healthy range. Consider their jealousy a compliment! The only people who can tell you that your goal weight is wrong is yourself or your doctor!
I get this same reaction as well. I am also 19, only 5'0 tall and trying to get down in that range of numbers. Currently I'm 127. When I talk to others my age they automatically assume I am being unhealthy in my goal. But I am the shortest person I know with friends much taller than me. They are all used to seeing higher numbers but that is because there is more height to them.
That's why I hate competitions. It brings out the worst in people.
You set your goals where you want to be and ignore them. If you win, fine, if not fine, because you'll be where you want to be.
Why would you determin a winner by lbs lost or even closest to a target weight?
Shouldnt you do it by body weight % lost?
That way it is fair to everyone envolved...that is if everyone has more weight to loose than what can possible be achieved in the time frame

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
