| 1 | cup barley |
| 4 | potatoes, (cut into chunks) |
| 1 | large onion, sliced |
| 1 | salt and pepper to taste |
| 2 | pounds beef stew meat |
| 6 | cups water (just enough to cover) |
- After adding all this to the crockpot, cover with water and place in crock pot and cook for at least 8 hours better if overnight

- This recipe is constantly evolving. This week I added paprika and a clove of garlic with good results. The right amount of salt and pepper is determined by trial and error, but better put add less rather than more in the beginning.
