Crystal Light- what a nice surprise!

Quote  |  Reply

I don't like the taste of water... Never have. I have tried drinking it ice cold, room temp, I just can't do it! So one of my guilty pleasures since I started this journey to a new me, has been those low cal drink crystals in the individual pouches.  ( I know, I just made a bunch of people cringe at the waste they produce, but I'm the kinda girl that brings her own grocery bags to the store, and my own plate and cutlery to a potluck... Like I said, it's my guilty pleasure)

I add one pouch to my 1L SS water bottle 3 times a day. So the other day, Crystal Light was on sale, I usually buy the no name, so I grabbed a Raspberry Peach flavor cuz it sounded tasty. And it is really good! But this morning, I actually took the time to read the box, they're called  "Live Active"and they have 3g of Fibre in every pouch!!! YAY! What a nice surprise, not only do they taste good, but I get extra benefit out of them too.

I guess if you're trying to avoid artificial sweetner, they wouldn't work for you... But I was thrilled!

Just thought I would share!

They have been a life saver for me as well.  I use them when I crave a soda, or when I just can't fathom drinking more water.  For me, though, they are too sweet in just 1L - I have to put them in a 32 oz glass, and even then I could stand to have it diluted more.  One thing I'd like to try once I'm a bit more organized (I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old right now, so things are a bit crazy) is to buy small plastic tubs and make my own individual portions, so I can wash the tubs and reuse them (and save a bit of money in the process).

The other soda substitute for me is slightly sweetened fruity ice tea - I like to brew a normal gallon tea bag with a fruit tea bag (usually taken as hot tea), add 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar or splenda to the gallon pitcher (I like less, my husband likes more - we compromise), and it is really refreshing.  Not quite as convenient as the individual pouches, though.

Edited 6-25-09:  Ok, I feel like a moron - a Liter is roughly 34 ounces.  Still, I think I may try a bigger cup next time so it is not quite so sweet.

i love crystal light singles! they make it sooo much easier for me to drink water.

I used to drink like an entire package of those things a day (so like 6 packettes!) but now I limit myself to ONLY 1 packette a day.. sometimes 2 if I am at work and don't want to taste the yucky tap water.

but I dilute it in about 1L of water, instead of the 500ml it calls for... I like to think it helps to flush out those nasty chemicals and artificial sweeteners in, and I get the flavor, but it's not as sickeningly strong.

I feel much better now that I don't drink so many of those anymore. I can't believe how sick and gross they made me felt... and they increased my cravings for sweet things

I have them now once a day as a 'treat' since the chemicals in them are linked to cancer and other diseases, as well as increased cravings for sweets, and the chemicals are toxins in your body which makes it harder for you to lose weight as they "insult" fat cells

but despite the negatives.. the raspberry peach with the fiber is the only kind I like and buy!!

the added fiber makes me feel less bad about ingesting the nasties

double post

Just make sure you get the ones without caffeine because caffe ine dehydrates you.

I'm not a big crystal light fan, but walmart sells a similar idea in koolaid. Sugar free and tasty. Orange tastes just like tang : )

The individual patches of that easily makes 2 bottles. I make a bottle of it and just continually add more water to it as I drink it, so it's like it never ends.

Lemonade crystal light is the best!
